We are taking my DS's girlfriend with us this year for her first visit to WDW. My son is going to propose to her during our stay. I suggested making dinner ressies at the Castle or during the MK fireworks.

I would like to hear other suggestions. If you proposed at WDW, what memorable ways did you ask your spouse to be?

My friend was proposed to in front of the MK Castle and she told me that there is no other place on WDW property she would rather have been asked. . .I agree although I was asked in a different way (though no less romantic). My suggestion would be that he does in in front of the castle while the fireworks are going off - you seriously can't get much better than that - let us know how he makes out and congrats to you - it sounds like your DS's girlfriend is really lucky:)

Also the Swan Boat landings are a nice tucked away spot by the castle to propose. Also the top of the Contemporary as you are watching the fireworks or the beach at the Poly....

I think the Castle wins hands down though.

PLEASE let us know how it goes!

There is a wishing well located on a quiet path right next to the castle. It might provide a beautiful backdrop for a memorable moment for you.
I was actually proposed to at the MK in march. Not sure how he arranged this, but we were in line to meet Eeyore, Pooh, and Tigger. After meeting and having pictures taken with Pooh and Tigger, we had someone take a picture of the both of us with Eeyore. When I went to walk away, Eeyore held on to me and pulled me a little toward the backdrop. Then he got down on one knee like he was proposing and I thought this was adorable to so I turned to my boyfriend to make sure he was getting a picture, and there he was down on one knee. Such a sweet moment.

100percentDisney ~ This would be pretty pricey, but I have heard of someone renting The Grand One yacht for dinner and then proposing during MK fireworks. Sounds pretty romantic to me! Also, I wanted to say "hi" from a neighbor. I live in Lafayette!! We're leaving for the DCL western cruise 2 weeks from today (woohoo!!). We'll then be at WL from 7/24 - 8/1. Look for my lime green ºoº head on my backpack and stop and say hi!!

12 years ago I proposed on Space Mountain. It was beautiful. We are going back this August and we are going to renew our vows on Tower of Terror.

So I would have to say either Space Mountain (very romantic) TOT would be my second choice or The Hall of Presidents.

Good Luck:wave:

My DH proposed to me in line for Star Tours. He got down on one knee and said in a Yoda voice, "Marry me, you will. Hmmm??" I laughed so hard and then said yes. His sense of humor is one of the things I love best about him.

Nice pic, Chris.:D Is that the actual moment or a reinactment? Congrats!

Like the pic too Chris.

The castle at night will be crowded with people watching Spectro and fireworks. I would go with dinner reservations at a place like the Cal. Grill at the Contemporary around the time the fireworks. That way, you have a good view of the castle, a good view of the fireworks and a more intimate setting. Your son and future DIL can return later in their lives to renew their vows. If not Cal. Grill, then maybe another restaurant that offers fireworks views.

Whatever place your son decides to propose at, make sure it has some staying power so they can return to that special location.
Good Luck.

Thought of another idea.

For another intimate setting. How about going to the Trans/Ticket Center at MK and get a seat at the front of the resort monorail. Ask the CM to see if one is available. Your son can propose while the monorail is jetting around CR, Poly and GF (very intimate). Stop off at the Polynesian and walk the beach. Get a table at Ohanas or any other restaurant to celebrate. If the monorail is too busy with other tourists riding in the front, then use the Polynesian beach as a back-up plan. I wonder how many monorail drivers/engineers hear marriage proposals during their shift.

Time for work. :(

Have a great 4th.

My DH (just celebrated 2 years this week at WDW!) proposed to me on one of the beaches at the Caribbean Beach Resort where we were staying. We laugh about it all the time, because it is the ONLY time he has ever been romantic! J/K! He trys! He proposed as we were walking back to our room the night that we checked into the resort for our stay. It was very beautiful and romantic!

While we were at Epcot this week, We were walking from Test Track into the gift shop (back entrance), and there were some very secluded, quiet benches without anyone around. DH said "There is a good proposing place! I am sure the magic happens there all the time."

We visited DH's sister (who is a castmember) who told us the most romantic proposal at Disney story. Proposer and his proposee (and some friends) were eating a lovely dinner at the Cali. grill when at the end of the meal, proposer went to "use the bathroom". Well, everyone was waiting around for a bit and wondering where he had gone. They finally decided that they would go downstairs to wait for him. There a castmember said "are you so and so, please come with me" They followed the cm to Cinderella's Horse Drawn Carriage, which took them into the MK. There proposer was waiting for proposee in the Prince Charming costume at the front of Cindy's Castle. I may not have told the story completely correct, but when my SIL told me the story, it brought tears to my eyes!

Good luck to your DS and his future fiancee!

My brother proposed to his girlfriend at the Hoop De Doo Revue 2 years ago on July 4th. I helped him set it up by calling Pioneer Hall and talking to the cast of the show. They were so helpful and worked it into the part of the show where they ask if anyone is celebrating any occasions during their stay. They set us up at a great table and after they announced all of the birthdays and anniversaries they came over to our table (the whole family was there) and one of the cast members was joking around with my brother and then finally said "I think this young man has a question to ask".......then my brother proposed (with a microphone in his ahnd I might add) It was so sweet. Then at the end of the show when they call a couple of people up on stage for little skits they pulled his fiance up to be part of it.....what a memorable night for them and I got it all on video. We all then chipped in and got them a room at the Grand Floridian for the night so they could see the Magic Kingdom fireworks (special ones because it was July 4th) I have to say that when I book the room months earlier I told the reservationist that it was a gift because they were getting engaged and wouldn't you know it that when we checked them in they were upgraded to a suite overlooking the lagoon. We couldn't believe it.....just another great story about Disney. Good luck!! It will be great where ever you propose.

It would have to be infront of the castle during the fireworksfor me, I can't think of anything more romantic. (Although being proposed to at home was OK for me I guess!)

Love Verity.xx:wave:

Lots of great ideas...but still I can't imagine anything being more romantic than infront of the castle during fireworks. I have heard lots about the Rose garden in MK....try to get a spot near there...and just after tink flies...down on one knee.

Be sure you get pictures of the event...it will be over so fast!!!!

tinkbell & lux: that's a pic of me actually proposing in the mk rose garden. luckily i knew she'd say "yes" so i wanted to to it right.
i was amazed at the amount of people that stopped to watch. as i was standing back up, there must have been a good 15-20 people that were clapping.
a friend of a son of a co-worker work at the mk, and was able to help me out. we told my fiance' that we were just getting a picture in front of the castle since i tend to ruin all of the pics that i'm in. i was in shock when he asked if i wanted to go on the grass to take the pic. he got one of the main street photographers, to take some pics as well.
afterwards, he gave us a glass slipper with our names and the date on it. i was floored when he gave it to us, as i wasn't expecting anything.
its those little pieces of magic that make disney the best place in the world.

I agree with this one! How about renting one of those fancy boats and do it during a fireworks show out on the lagoon??

Good luck!
