Best place to check weather...

The National Weather Service in Melbourne covers the Orlando area. True local forecasters.

It's still way too early to know whether it will or will not rain during your vacation as the weather in FL can change at the drop of a dime. It's FL, it rains, and more often than not it's passing showers, not torrential all day long downpours. For weather I use weather.gov.

As a meteorologist myself, I can say that only when your trip gets within 7 days, do we have real skill in forecasting. I would never trust or plan off a 10-14 day forecast. NWS forecasts only go out 7 days.

Take a deep breath. Now how accurate are your weather guessers back home? I have seldom seen any forcast more than a day or two that is totally accurate. Take ponchos, prepare to dress in layers and don't worry about the weather!!!

My college degree and job description require a little bit more work than guessing.

You give good advice though. Florida weather can and will vary greatly. Dressing in layers this time of year is important. Just have a good source of weather information and you will be fine.

Thanks for all the reassurance lol! I've been to WDW many many times in the summer. This is my first trip out here during the winter. I'm more worried about a little princess getting bbB up-ed, then it raining all day.

Being retired from the Navy, a "Weather Guesser" is a term of endearment for those in the AG (Aerographers Mate) rating. Had a roomate that used to track the ice from the poles and the effect on the shipping lanes.

I've got a degree in meteorology...and I'd also lean towards the National Weather Service (www.weather.gov)...or follow the direct link to the Melborne NWS that alhurricane posted. Of course they don't have a 20-day forecast...but anything beyond 5-days is really just a guess. And TWC bases those 20-day forecasts on models that are very unstable beyond 5-days. In other words...the forecast will change multiple times a day with each new model run.

To put your mind at ease...winter is the dry season in Florida...so the likelihood of rain everyday for a week is highly unlikely. It has been chilly recently...so that's the bigger concern.

FWIW...I'll be there the same period you are...I'm expecting generally 60's for highs with maybe a shower or two throughout the week...but no days on days of rain.

I use the AccuWeather professional site, which is fairly good 14 days out. We are traveling out a few days after you leave, so I have been trending the weather. The cold snap in the Eastern US will lift during your stay (first day chilly 55-60F, last day perhaps 80 degrees F). During times of instability like this, Central Florida can see a day where showers crop up. There are no currently forecast storms or major systems anticipated, and they are showing most days as sunny or partly sunny. Currently they are showing a slim chance of showers on 2/2 and a generally cloudy day. That wave could move either way by a day or disappear altogether.

The "worst" thing I see happening is that it generally stays cool - perhaps highs don't get much above 68-70.

Who do you trust

I trust myself. I trust that I will pack for the central florida climate of possibly 30s in the morning, 60s during the day, 70s at night and 40s the next morning with some rain sprinkled in there at times.

Pack everything from shorts and bathing suits to gloves and a coat, but pack so you can dress in layers.

The pics in my sig pic below are all from different days last week...one day I am wearing a thermal shirt, t-shirt and sweatshirt, another day I am wearing shorts and a lightweight tech tee and another I am wearing two long sleeve tees. One day the pool was too cold to get into at noon, then another it was fine to go down the slide at 8:30 pm....Pack for versatility.

Pack and dress for the climate, not the weather forecast.
