iPod Nano's online at Apple Store USA are $199, you then have to add the tax applicable to the state you are purchasing in, so looking at about £112, which is £17 cheaper than in the UK from Apple Store UK. I am not sure how warranties etc work if you purchase in the USA but need to get it fixed in the UK. All I can say is a UK purchased iPod from Apple is so easy to get fixed as DH's wouldn't work about a month before its 12 months were up so we submitted the unit number onto the Apple website and we then got a package through the post for the returns packaging and 4 days after posting it had gone to the Netherlands been looked at and replaced!
So you may save a bit by buying in the USA but in the long run it may not be so easy to claim should it go wrong.
Walmart could be a good place to buy one then if you have any problems with it you can take it back to Asda in this country they're $147 for 2gb or $197 for 4gb
Theres no warranty problem buying in the States as you get an Apple Worldwide warranty. Also you can purchase the Applecare additional warranty which works out cheaper than in the U.K. but for a Nano I would look at the Walmart option.
Remember as well that using 'Google Checkout' on the ebuyer website gets you £10 off. The player and 'super saver delivery' works out at less than £30 I believe
The Walmart prices are plus tax so the 4gb works out at approx £105 at $2/£1. If you search on Pricerunner.co.uk there are 3 companies will deliver it for less than £110.
If you buy it thru a cashback site like rpoints or quidco then there will be more discount also google for discount codes and you will probably pay less than £105 in this country for it.
Depending on what you are bringing back you might be liable for import duty so throw packaging and post reciepts home if you are over the limits for goods.
Really 99% of the time its not with buying elecrical products in US. If you are a good online buyer or good at asking for discounts instore you will get a good deal here.
Another thing if you buy before your trip you can load you music on to it at home ready for your holiday.
Good luck
Slightly off topic, but I've been after some speakers for my Nano and had my eye on the Sonic Impact iF2 ones which are in a zipped case. The Apple shop has them at $150 but I'm planning on buying at Circuit City near the Florida Mall for $40 less. They seem to be a Comet type place. They have a 4gb nano for $189.
Ebuyer have a good price on Nano 4gb if you use Google checkout. Most you will pay is £98.09 but I just checked and it came up at £96.33 for some reason.
If you have a Quidco account there will be around £1 cashback also.
Ebuyer is a great site, and it just got a lot better with the Google Checkout feature. For some reason though, they dont accept visa electron I have to get my dad to buy things from it
Id buy from Walmart simply cos of the ease of taking back to Asda, Asda also seem to take back anything very easily and so in the event of any problems this could save a lot of hassle.
