Best place for cheap glasses?

Coastal Contacts.com runs specials for FREE glasses often.

We use America's Best as well. It's an actual store. I am not sure if they are available in your area or not. But, we were able to get 2 pairs of glasses and an exam for 79 bucks.

Wish I knew about Zenni last week, DH & I ordered 4 pairs of glasses almost $1000. Could have used that money for Disney

I'm curious about Zenni. It looks like you basically fill in the info yourself and then they just ship whatever you order to you. You don't actually need a perscription?

You all are AMAZING! I ended up using a Groupon for Pearlevision...it ended up being more expensive than we were hoping  so my husband didn't get new glasses. I'm totally checking out the websites you guys posted now! Thanks so much!!

I've ordered several pairs from Zenni with hit or miss on the experience. One pair I ordered for my son that took over 4 months to finally show up. The funny part is after 3 months I disputed the charge on American Express and was refunded. Then the glasses showed up and I tried to call them and could never get through. I finally sent an email and they replied to just keep the glasses. Then about 5 months after that they resent another pair of glasses with an apology letter.

For myself I've never had a pair that has lasted more than a year - they fall apart. I don't like to wear my contacts overnight so I basically wear glasses for about an hour in the morning and then in bed at night reading so I don't think I'm overly rough on them. But hey, they cost $20 ... I really don't care if they fall apart. If I ever get to the point where I'm using glasses all the time I'd probably invest in something better but these are fine for me. I've been considering ordering a pair as sunglasses lately because I need sunglasses outside and if I'm not wearing contacts I really don't have anything.

I've never been able to wrangle the PD out of an eye doctor here. They claim they aren't required to give that out and I've never pushed. I used one of the other sites to measure from a photo and then I had my DH measure me. The numbers come out within a mm of each other so I think it's good.

According to my experience, you need to get your prescription and PD from your optometrist. Zenni just processes the glasses according to the prescription we entered. So make sure you fill in the correct information for your glasses. I have ordered a bunch of glasses from Zenni, never have problems. They are awesome.

I use goggles4u.com and have never had problems. Takes a little longer to get to you...the 2.5 weeks is about what I've seen. I have about 10 pairs now - super cute and cheap! I just ordered my son (9) sports goggles for $60 which is way cheaper than the eye doc wanted for them!

Also, I think they do a 20% discount for any subsequent orders and I get emails often for 9.99 glasses. One of my friends just used the site and got a pair of sunglasses and regular glasses for $5 shipped b/c she was a new customer and had a coupon for a percentage off.

Thumbs up for goggles4u.com!

Another vote for Zenni. I just ordered 2 pair of glasses from them - prescription sunglasses for DD and replacement glasses for DH - and am very happy with both pair. DD wears her glasses like a fashion accessory (2 pair from America's Best and now sunglasses from Zenni) and DH is really hard on his, so I love that I've found a cheap place to get them!

Another vote for 39dollarglasses.com. I bought a pair of the bendable (titanium) frames, progressive lenses with all the "extras"....cost less than $180.... Every place in town was $450 to $700! got them in about a week. sorry TSO and Eyemasters.pirate:
