DH is joining us mid vacation (12/21). Not sure I want the hassle of driving to MCO to get him .

So, is it better (quicker, cheaper) for him to take a taxi or schedule a car service? if so, which one? He'll probably be arriving later in the evening. VV@P is located just a few minutes from wdw.

TIA

Cheapest: Lynx bus from airport to downtown Orlando, transfer to bus to Magic Kingdom, cab from MK to hotel.
Fastest: Town car service or cab directly to hotel
Alternative: Mears shuttle to hotel. Cheaper than town car/cab, faster than bus.

Can't he take Magical Express?

Nope. I still haven't figured out what "VV@P" is, but it's not a Disney resort.

To the OP - one other option would be for your husband to reserve the cheapest possible car from the airport, ideally from National or Alamo, and return it at the Car Care Center or the Dolphin the next day.

VV@P = Vacation Village at Parkway

I am SO SORRY. I'm used to seeing it on the Orlando Resorts board abbreviated like that and didn't stop to consider that the abbreviation wasn't well known on other boards.

VV@P is a timeshare property that we got for $299 (bottom line including taxes) for 7 nights on www.getravelop.com (a discounted way for government employees to stay in a timeshare).

It's located right on 192, just east of the "entrance" to wdw. Very close, but no magical express available.

I was just wondering if a car service like Mears or a taxi would be the better option. The bus into Orlando isn't really viable.

Does the time of day factor into the decision?

Also, does the fact that it won't be a round trip make a difference in our choice of transport? We're renting a car and DH will just be with us when we all return at the end of the vacation.

Thanks.

Factoring in time (convenience) and money, which would you do: car rental, car service, or taxi? THANKS!

I'd go with a taxi. It's flexible - in case he arrives early somehow, he won't be waiting around for the town car - and all he needs to do is go to level one and follow the signs. I think there are taxi dispatchers there in case there's not a cab RIGHT there, it costs about the same as a town car. The rental really probably is fastest/cheapest combined of his options, but you've got to research the rates, hope you book the 'best' one and he may have to wait in line for the car. And he'd have to take time out of his day to return it.

Taxi sounds like the best option. Thanks!

If it's comparable in price to a town car, why do people choose the town car? better service?? Thanks again.

Towncar drivers meet you at baggage claim and assist you with luggage. The driver will wait for you even if your flight is delayed.

The cars are usually Lincoln Towncars with leather seats (or sometimes Cadillac DeVilles). The cars are cleaner and nicer than a typical cab.

The rate is predictable. You make a reservation for a fixed price. (It's also customary to tip around 20%, which should be optional but which is automatic with a few companies.) If you're in a traffic jam, you don't have to watch your money tick away as the meter price keeps going up.

With a round trip towncar, there's usually a 20- or 30-minute grocery stop included in the price. That's not a consideration in your case because you'll have a rental car and your DH is only going one way — but it's a big advantage over a cab in many cases.

I know that others here have suggested a cab, but I'd go with a towncar service.
