I've looked through and don't see this question asked before. Anyone have any experience with offsite hotels with suites near Universal? We have two small children and really enjoy the space.

Thanks! :flower1:

While not really near Universal, we stayed once at The Holiday Inn Family Suites Resort Hotel, and my kids liked it even better than the Disney hotels we have stayed at. I just looked this up on the Holiday Inn website, (http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/6c/1/en/hd/disfs?irs=null) and the hotel is "now transforming into the first-ever Nickelodeon Family Suites by Holiday Inn There is major construction taking place at the resort thru spring of 2005." The suites at this hotel were true suites, with two separate bedrooms, and a living room. The pool is great. We have also stayed at the Holiday Inn Sunspree. This hotel has "KidSuites" that are smaller, but with a separate, walled-off area with bunk beds. No living room. Either would be a great option if you need more space. Have fun!

Thanks, I have considered Holiday Inn Family Suites for our time at Disney (we stayed at ASM last year, which is how I knew for sure we needed more space  ) We would like something very close to Universal and I looked at staying onsite, but the rooms are very pricey and they don't appear to have any good suite options.

Is the Sunspree close?

No. The Sunspree is not actually close to Universal, either. Sorry that I can't be of more help.

If you would like an all-suite hotel these might be worth considering.

If you are on a tight budget I would suggest going to an amerisuites. The rooms are not huge but they they do have the bedroom area, living area and kitchenette. You also get free buffet breakfast every morning. Pools are outside and on the small side but work great. If you would like to stay at one I would recommend this website they are overing amerisuites for 70 dollars a night including taxes.

If you would like a more luxurious suite I would suggest embassey suites on jamacian ct. The bedrooms are huge with a privacy door. The vanity for the bathroom is seperate from the toilet/shower (privacy door). And inaddition they have a living area with pull out sofa , chair, dinette set, and kitchette. with microwave and refrigerator and sink. For this one you will pay about 150 dollars a night depending on season. Call hotel directly for best rates. Ask if they have any specials. This hotel is south of sandlake in a very beautiful area. www.embasseysuites.com

If you want one with more cooking options I would suggest a family suite at the holiday at 8214 Universal blvd. The best website to book this hotel is www.avistahotels.com This room is 120 plus tax per night. We checked into this room while we stayed there in one of the cheaper room. The layout of a full kitchen minus an oven. Very nice living area with sleeper sofa. The bedroom is off to itself with privacy door. Bath room is inside the bedroom area It was nice.

Thank you all so much. I will check out all of these hotels. Thanks again for your help! Kellam

Westgate Lake - great rate (we got it for $67 for a one room suite), only 1 mile from Seaworld and Universal - on the same street!

my vote is the marriott vacation villas. they are beautiful, clean and have great pools. full size kitchen, jacuzzi tub in master bedroom.. look on marriott's website. many times they have good prices on the villas.

I have stayed at cypress and grande vista. I am told that horizons is actually the best of all. the pool is almost like a small water park I hear.

Even though you might pay a little more, you have the ability to have breakfast in the room and stock up on water, soda and whatever you like. we also went to food store and got fast food items that we used for dinner on a few nites. all in all, we saved money.

might be something to consider

More good places to check, thanks! A question about the "horizons" you mentioned. I'm trying to look that up online, is it Marriott Horizons, or New Horizons? Both are resorts I'm finding on Google.

Thanks! Kellam

go to marriott.com and on the drop down pick vacation villas. put in orlando florida and they should all come up. also, if you are a marriott rewards member, they are always giving special offers. or even try expedia as well.

sorry, just tried marriott.com..it is called marriott vacation village, orlando on horizons blvd.

check it out

That's because it's only a year old. Same for the Hilton Garden Inn next to it. Those are also my favorites right now.

Just curious if any of these offer a free shuttle to US? Thanks!
