Best. Noms. Ever. A SOLO DxDP Review with Pictures COMPLETE

YAY for the beignets!!!! When I read on your TR that you'd gotten the cheese danish for breakfast, I was shocked!...but decided not to comment because this was YOUR trip, not mine, and well.....I'm just here to read about it, right? Then I come here (definitely a good decision...LOVE the food pics...Oh. My.). And you got beignets!!!! Yes, you have to wait, but isn't it SO worth it?!! When DH and I went for a day trip up to DTD back in April, we took the boat over to FQ just for some beignets (well, that and we wanted to walk the grounds at Riverside...:flower3:). But we got the large order of those heavenly pillow puffs of goodness and we also sat outside....listened to the music....aahh, good times.:cloud9:

I'm really interested in reading your reviews because most of your sit-down places (so far) are places we've never even considered going.

Isn't it funny how much food plays a part in a Disney trip?!:upsidedow

.

Great Reviews! Glad you enjoyed your solo trip :thumbsup2

:welcome:

I'm in.

The lobster bisque looked great. :goodvibes

That bisque was good. Too bad the rest of that meal was a bust.

Great reviews soo far!

Thanks!

Beignets are so worth the wait. When we go back, we'll have to take the boat from Riverside over to French Quarter just for beignets for breakfast one morning.

Food really does play a huge part of the trip. Glad I can add some variety in your decision-making, lol. I think when you go solo, you should do at least one breakfast ADR and one dinner. Later you will find out where my reccommendations are.

So, when it comes to the Magic Kingdom, I have one favorite CS restaurant--Cosmic Ray's. The major reason why I like this place is the 1/2 rotisserie chicken that they serve--similar to the chicken that used to be at Tusker House before they defiled it into a TS restaurant. Yeah, yeah, yeah--Animal Kingdom needed another TS location, but why take away the one great item in the park?

So, before the party started, I stopped into Cosmic Ray's for dinner. Of course, I got:

1/2 Rotisserie Chicken - with Mashed Potatoes and a seasonal vegetable $9.49

Now the potatoes--very flavorful.

The green beans? Yummy.

The Chicken? Not as good as I remembered, but cooked thoroughly (a definite must).

I had the carrot cake, and it, too, was drier than I remembered. I washed it down with a Coca-Cola.

I am also thinking that I really wasn't that hungry after lunch, but knew I needed to eat before the party.

Believe it or not, this place was not a madhouse (as can happen here), I had little to no wait, and the service was great!

Overall:
Atmosphere: 4 out of 5: I'm not really fond of the feel of Tomorrowland as a whole and spend little time here at the Magic Kingdom.
Service: 5 out of 5
Wait Time: 5 out of 5
Food Quality: 3.5 out of 5
Overall: 4.375 out of 5

Yum, loving the look of that chicken! I've never been to Cosmic Rays, looks like I'll have to add this one to my list :)

I really like the Grand Floridian Cafe...have you ever been for breakfast?? One of my favorite spots in WDW for a late breakfast before hitting the MK!

A little late but I'm in!! Enjoying the food, can't wait for more. By the way sorry you didn't have a good experience at Yachtsman Steakhouse. My DH and I went in June while we were on our honeymoon and had ADR's for shortly after the restuarant opened and the place was dead. I think it was for 530, but we had no wait and lots of attention from our waitor. Hopefully next time you visit, it will be more magical!!!pixiedust:

Joining in. Enjoying your reviews and pictures. Thanks for sharing. Happy New Year

:welcome: and Happy New Year to you, too!

It has multiple choices from multiple bays--the chicken area is just my personal favorite.

I have only been there for lunch and dinner. I want to try it for breakfast someday. Perhaps I need to do that in June.

I really was looking forward to Yachtsman, but I hope it was just an off night. Perhaps if I had an earlier reservation, things would have been different.

So this day, I was up early for rope drop at Epcot, lunch at Coral Reef, and dinner at Chefs de France.

Knowing I needed to be out early, I decided on a CS breakfast at the resort. I got the King Creole breakfast platter with Orange Juice and coffee.

From the bottom we have breakfast potatoes that were exceptionally yummy, a biscuit that was rather dry, bacon and sausage, and eggs. The eggs were wonderful--light and fluffy. The sausage was also very good. I did not eat the bacon, however. I have only eaten bacon on property once and decided they make the bacon more chewy than anything. So, I can't tell whether it was good or not. The Orange Juice hit the spot, and the coffee was well, Disney coffee. It was nothing to write home about, but when you need your morning cup daily, like I do, it will do.

I have to say that I did brave the clown-like entities this day and sat near them inside for breakfast. (Yay, me!)

Overall:
Atmosphere: 4 out of 5: Just becasue I ate near the clowns doesn't mean I liked it.
Service: 5 out of 5
Wait Time: 5 out of 5
Food Quality: 3 out of 5
Overall: 4.25 out of 5

Just caught up! Everything looks so tasty. Lol at the clowns

So, after an early breakfast, rope drop, and running around the park for what seemed like forever, believe it or not, I was hungry. I stopped into Sunshine Seasons for some fruit and a soda.

It hit the spot.

Notice on the receipt there is something circled. I (and everyone else using the DDP, I think) got a 20% merchandise coupon when they visted CS locations in the parks. Believe me, I used mine. ;)

And, on to the 12:30 reservation at

First things, first, I was seated right next to the fish tank, as evidenced by these pictures. . .

Talk about a great location! That was awesome.

On to lunch. . .

For my appetizer, I got this: Creamy Lobster Soup - chervil, brandy $7.99.

My kids usually get this with their kids' picks and I always end up eating half of theirs.

IMG_0151.jpg

This is better than the one at Yachtsman, btw. :rolleyes1

For my entre, I got. . .

Grilled Mahi Mahi - topped with a spicy pineapple chutney over cashew-jasmine rice finished with a coconut rum beurre blanc $20.99

IMG_0155.jpg

This was absolutely delicious. The fish was cooked perfectly and the rice was wonderful.

And what meal would be complete without my favorite dessert? Baileys and Jack Daniel's Mousse* - topped with a ganache and chocolate cigar $7.99

IMG_0164.jpg

Yummy! Just as good as I remembered!

As far as the service goes here, this was my first experience with great service. Her name was Hanane, and she took my picture, kept my table clear, chatted a little with me, and kept my drink completely full.

Overall:
Atmosphere: 5.5 out of 5--Did I mention I was near the fish tanks?!?!
Service: 5 out of 5
Wait Time: 5 out of 5--Believe it or not, I only waited 5 min past my ADR time, which is something big for Coral Reef!
Food Quality: 4.5 out of 5
Overall: 5 out of 5

Coral Reef remains one of my favorite TS locations in Epcot, but I don't think I'll go again for a while. I don't think I'd be that happy if I didn't get to sit by the fish tank again, lol.

Coming up--The Disaster that was Les Chefs de France

We also ate at Coral Reef during this trip. We had a great experience with yummy food and great service. I also had the delicious mousse, but we didn't get to sit by the tank.:sad1:
