Best. Noms. Ever. A SOLO DxDP Review with Pictures COMPLETE

For lunch today, I was heading to one of my favorite counter service places on property:

I love this place because of the outdoor seating, the ducks, the views, and the food.

I had my favorite item there, the pulled pork sandwich with backed beans. For dessert, I had the chocolate mousse, which is not on the allears website. It was delicious and I ate everything, despite my big breakfast.

I like this place because of the control you have over condiments, the atmosphere, and how quickly everything goes there.

Overall:
Atmosphere: 5 out of 5
Service: 5 out of 5
Wait Time: 5 out of 5
Food Quality: 5 out of 5
Overall: 5 out of 5

How bad is it that I have some of the FTB background-music tracks on my MP3 player?......:rolleyes1

LOVE this place!!!!:lovestruc

Not that bad, considering I was listening to the Spectromagic cd in the car today. :rolleyes1

We were just talking about this on Facebook--I did not realize this was where I was on my dining report, lol, until after I mentioned it.

I don't think either of those is bad considering I am programming the music from Fantasmic for my HS band to play at their end of the year concert :goodvibes

Hey.....I just noticed the pink headline in your sig! YAY for the Disney Box!!!!!!!!!

So, for dinner on the 4th night, I was heading out to:

I had never been here before, but really wanted to try this one. My reservations were at 6:55pm. I checked in at 6:30 and was seated at 6:40.

My server was Tom, who was awesome. He was super funny, kept my drink filled, and was attentive, but not so attentive he was annoying. I was never left waiting for anything from the kitchen or the bar.

For my appetizer, I had: Crab Cakes - Southern Slaw and Cajun Remoulade sauce $13

These up to this date, were the best crab cakes ever. They were perfectly crispy on the outside, and wonderfully flavorful. The slaw and remoulade gave them a kick that made me wishing this was not just an appetizer.

With my coke, I also had the Narcoossee's lemonade

This was delicious. Not too sweet, just the right amount of alcohol.

My entre was the Grilled Filet Mignon - potato gratin, broccolini and choron sauce $41.

I had thought of the lobster here, but I really wanted a better Disney filet than the one I got at Yachtsman.

I got it! It was cooked perfectly, the potatoes and beans (not broccolini as in the allears description) were a perfect accompaniment, and I ate every bite.

Finally for dessert I had Almond-crusted Cheesecake - with lambert cherry sauce $8 which was with a blueberry sauce, unlike the allears description.

This was heavenly! I enjoyed the 1/4 I ate, but I was so full, I couldn't eat it all. I wish I had boxed it--it would have been fine in my backpack at the park because it ended up being frigid beyond belief that night!

Narcoossee's wins the new award for my favorite restaurant on Disney property, replacing another Grand Floridian location: the Grand Floridian Cafe.

Overall:
Atmosphere: 5 out of 5--I was seated looking out at the castle. It was simply beautiful!
Service: 6 out of 5--I will ask for Tom again in June!
Wait Time: 5 out of 5
Food Quality: 10 out of 5 (Can I do that? Well, I guess I did, lol)
Overall: 6.5 out of 5

Yum, yum, yum - I'm so glad you had a great meal at Narcoosees, hopefully makes up for the disappointment of Yachtsmans :)

I'm so glad you had a lovely time at Narcoossee's. My husband loved the crab cakes there too. One trip we ate there 2x and on our last night my husband arrange room service from there while my 2yr son went to sleep early.

I am so excited to see your review of Narcoossee. I finally talked DH into trying that next trip.

Sorry if you've already mentioned it but have you tried Citricos yet? It's our new fave WDW restaurant.:goodvibes

Those crab cakes are to die for!!!

Looks delicious...we're also big fans of Narcoossees and Grand Floridian Cafe!

They are probably two of the gems on property!

I don't think you'll regret that choice!

I have not tried Citrico's. It's one of those I would love to try on a solo trip before brining my family.

Great pictures and reviews. Thank you for taking your time to share your experiences with us.

Thanks and :welcome:

The night before, I stayed up really, really late at MK EMH, so I slept in. I was up and out at about 10:00am, in time to take a boat trip to Downtown Disney. My choice for lunch for the day (an early lunch, mind you) was. . .

Now before I go into my review, let me say that this is a restaurant I was very, very skeptical about. How could could a sandwich place really be? I decided to wait to pass judgement on the place, though. After all, I like to give anyone or any place the benefit of the doubt.

The wait for this place, IMO, was horrendous, even at 11:15am. I really can't make a suggestion that would make the place more effective, though, that would not involve construction making the place bigger. I also found the place to be really, really noisy, so although it was cooler this morning, I retreated to the outdoors for lunch.

I had The Full Montagu - roast beef and turkey with cheddar and Swiss cheese, romaine lettuce, tomato and Earl's mustard, a macaroni salad, and a large triple berry parfait, which I took back to the room to eat while I was cleaning up for an afternoon in the World Showcase.

The sandwich was simply heavenly.

I was not enamored with the macaroni salad--I wish I had gotten the potato salad. I should note that the parfait was not acceptable as a snack credit. I charged $4.24 back to the room for it.

The full meal:

Overall:
Atmosphere: 2 out of 5--again, it was really noisy here, and I did not really like the setup, but I can't think of a good suggestion to fix the problems.
Service: 3 out of 5--simply because of the disjointed-ness of the place
Wait Time: 2 out of 5
Food Quality: 5 out of 5--I'm a believer about the food here.
Overall: 3 out of 5

I will return here, but would love some suggestions as to a calmer time to go!

I really want to visit the EOS on my next trip.
I have heard so many good things about it
Sounds like you have to stand in line whatever time of day it is though :sad2:

We were going to try EOS on our next trip, but lately I've been paying attention to hte talk of the long lines and I think it's scaring me away. We were going to go at lunchtime on a Saturday in April, I think it's unlikely we will stick with that plan. It's too bad because the sandwiches do look so good.
