Best. Noms. Ever. A SOLO DxDP Review with Pictures COMPLETE

Great review of Coral Reef :thumbsup2
Glad you got such a great table next to the tank

Late that evening, I made my way to get dinner at Chefs de France. One thing that confused me about this location was they do not have the actual ADR list on computer in front of them. I gave them my name, spelled it (It's a 4-letter last name), and proceeded to wait.

After about 45 minutes, I noticed parties of 2 who arrived after me were being seated. I figured they had earlier ADRs, so I said nothing.

Then, though, I asked a couple, "What time is your ADR?" 25 min after mine. I waited patiently. And that couple whose ADR was after mine and started waiting after me was seated. I went to the desk. And they realized they had been calling my name. Only calling it wrong AND they misspelled it even after I spelled it to them. By now, I was going to be late for an Illuminations meet, hungry, and mad as all get-out.

I left. I told them I did not want to be seated. I would not be returning, and I would not reccommend them. I was cold, tired, and hungry. I had had a horrid experience at the Yachtsman dealing with similar circumstances, and I was not patient enough to go through it again.

So, my review of Chefs de France? Considering this is what I ended up having to tide me over and I missed my Illuminations meet because I was trying to find something I felt like eating then. . .

Overall:
Atmosphere: 0 out of 5--An outdoor waiting area is not cool when it's 40 degrees out there!
Service: did not have any service, so can't comment
Wait Time: -4 out of 5--Yes, a negative number. I SPELLED my name, people were seated before me who showed up later (parties of 2, not another size) even before my misspelled name was called out, and they did not even offer an apology to me. They told me my accent was thick. Which really fired me up. I'm from the South. I still spelled my name. How can you misspell a 4-letter name that was spelled for you?
Food Quality: again, I can't comment. It may have been great.
Overall: -2.5 out of 5

Will I go back? Never. Chefs de France is off of my list as a possibility. I don't like how all customers have to wait outside and given the fact that they have a difficult time understanding Americans, they need to have the computer set up so the can SEE the guests' names. I took French in school. I understood them just fine, but they apparently have not gotten accustomed to people with deep Southern accents. Perhaps that's how may 1-syllable last name ended up with 8 letters when they wrote it down.

Sorry about your experience at Chefs! I blew a gasket like that one year at Tony's Town Square in the MK. I had already gone through it at another restaurant and I wasn't about to let it happen again. They tried to cram our party of nine (my mom was with us) into a table that was WAYYYY too small. They were rude about it. I was tired and cold. I blew my cool (which I never do) and we all got up and walked out. (All this after waiting 45 minutes past our ADR to be seated)

You are lucky you didnt eat at Chefs...the food is terrible! We ate there in Oct and the server completely ignored us and the food was blech!

We had the same problem with the communication too......they could not pronounce our name worth a lick so anything that sounded like it started with a Hil....I got up!

What does Disney have against pagers?? I think all the TS places should use them. Like at Crystal Palace, you can NEVER hear the ladies calling your name...its like they just say it instead of yell it and you know guests are all over the outside waiting area, they cannot hear you if you do not have a loudspeaker!

My last name is Dale. As in the "farmer in the"? I pronounce it with a long A. They were calling for Dillou, with the l's silent--DEEE-YO. And they were asking for a party of 4 with my name. How was I supposed think it was me?

I still get mad everytime I think about it. There are plenty of great places in Epcot without having to go there again.

I agree about the buzzer system--I know I had a buzzer at Yachtsman, Coral Reef, (they were giving them at GFC, but I did not need one, lol), and plenty of others. Heck, I got a buzzer at the food court for all of my orders except when I had beignets!

That is so disappointing about Chefs, I wouldn't have hung around either.

I think I'm lucky. No one ever knows how to pronounce my last name. The cm's at Disney would either get a panicked look on their faces when it was time to call my last name, or they'd just call my first name, lol.

I am so sorry you are a victim of French attitude! We go to DLRP a lot and just imagine what they do to my 10 letter German name! :lmao:

I LOVE your reviews though! Can't wait for more! popcorn::

Great reviews... Sorry about Chefs.... I can't believe the host didn't notice that you were waiting. It not like they can't recognize people. Seriously... if you are going to be a host you need to have people skills and one would be remembering who checked in and where they sat to wait and what they look like.

I'm glad I wasn't being too dramatic, lol.

:rotfl2: That is too funny!

My sil and bil want us to visit them in Germany (he's stationed there) and wants to drive to DLRP. I'm glad I'm not planning on going there.

At least the hostess at Yachtsman knew I had been waiting over an hour. She even mentioned it to someone who came up and complained they had been waiting 10 min.

Just caught up with your reviews! I am drooling for the beignets! :goodvibes

We had a later reservation at the Yachtman last trip that I cancelled before we even got there. Glad I did. No way I want to be eating at 9:30 at night!

Sorry to hear about Chefs. I booked a lunch there this past trip admittedly to see Remy. Was disappointed to hear that we had to eat off the dinner menu due to it being Christmas week. Ended up very pleasantly surprised with our meal and service. Chefs seems to be a real hit or miss place.

Apparantly I got the miss, lol!

So, after watching Illuminations, I ended up picking up dinner at Sassagoula Floatworks at 10:30pm. Thank goodness the food court stays open late, because I was starving. I don't know why, but I was! I suppose it was all of that walking. And I took loads of pictures of Illuminations.

For dinner at Sassagoula Floatworks, I had Spaghetti and Meatballs with a salad.

The spaghetti was okay, the sauce again, was on the salty side, but edible. I think I would have been tougher on this review, but I was so happy to be served by someone who smiled and served me that night more than anything. I also got this delectible treat as my dessert item, which I ate after I returned home.

Delicious! Of course, I could eat just about anything that was chocolate covered.

So, dinner that night was:

Overall:
Atmosphere: 5 out of 5 (If you note, I did a real no-no--That tray is actually in my room. I ate dinner in my room, put the waste in an outside container, and took the tray back to the food court the next morning)
Service: 4 out of 5 I don't remember why I deducted a point that night--probably because there was only one register open and quite a few people there.
Wait Time: 4 out of 5--I remember I did have to wait a little, but not too much
Food Quality: 3.5 out of 5--just because of the saltiness. And my note says it was not really that fresh. but then again, what did I expect that late at night?
Overall: 3.3 out of 5

From here on out, I promise my dining experiences get better!

Well, on one hand, you were spared the horror of eating the food at Les Chefs and paying for it! :rotfl:

I did NOT like it there. Food was like a frozen dinner, and our server was mediocre at best.

I lived in France, and the fact that so many people have to take Les Chefs as a representation of the country saddens me. I never had such poor food or service anywhere in France. The French IN France were so much more friendly and welcoming to me than the people working at Les Chefs!

I like your review system with the ratings of the different aspects. :thumbsup2 Looking forward to more reviews and hoping the rest of your dining went more smoothly!

I'm liking your reviews so far! Too bad about Chefs de France though :confused3 I've had good meals there my last couple of trips but with the service you were given from the beginning I'd be pretty unhappy too! I don't blame you for leaving :thumbsup2

Thanks! My dining did go more smoothly. The next morning made up for the previous night.

Great reviews, I'm in! popcorn::

Thanks. I probably should have gone to guest services and complained. I just did not have the energy.

Not to excited about dining anymore, I got up the next morning, took that tray back to the food court, and drove over to

Now, I almost did not go to this one because I read a complaint about food poisoning. But that was the only complaint, and most of the time I think food poisoning at Disney is more likely a stomach bug.

Anywho, my ADR was at 7:35 and I was seated then!

My server, Vivian, was awesome! She saw me taking pictures and offered to take mine.

On to my first plate:
IMG_0223.jpg

From the top, I had breakfast potatoes, sticky bun, a grilled tomato, ham, curried sausage casserole under the ham, scrambled eggs with chives and goat cheese, and sausage. Everyhting was delicious--I cleaned my plate!

To drink I had coffee and West African Frunch (a combination of lemonade, pineapple juice, guava juice, orange juice, and papaya juice).

IMG_0224-1.jpg

Both were also great! I was surprised. I typically can't drink the Disney coffee.

My next plate was this one:

IMG_0226-1.jpg

From the top, I had a waffle, Brioche (like French toast, yummmy! with raisins)--courtesy allears, more eggs, and potatoes.

This was awesome and yet again, I cleared my plate.

Finally, I got a little watermelon and pineapple. For the time of year, they were good. I would expect sweeter watermelon in the summer, but it hit the spot.

My server was excellent. I never had an empty glass. I never had a dirty plate left on the table. I never had to ask for anything. This was almost the best server I had the entire trip.

I was out of there and at rope drop at Animal Kingdom. This is on my must-do list for June!

Overall:
Atmosphere: 5 out of 5--I had never been to AKL, and although I would not want to stay there, it is an awesome place to visit.
Service: 5 out of 5--Vivian was excellent!
Wait Time: 5 out of 5
Food Quality: 6 out of 5
Boma is, in my opinion, the best breakfast on site.
Overall: 5.25 out of 5

Thanks for the update. We love the Boma breakfast...great juice and coffee. I love that they also have eggs made to order station. We went for dinner but we were let down of the food.
