My son is trying to earn enough money to buy one and since Christmas (I was thinking of buying one for him then, but decided not to) they seem to have risen in price. Anyone know a price close to $100 with a game? Please share your price. Thanks from my DS!

Your in luck, i found that toys' R' Us is selling A

blue Nintendo DS , With Animal Crossing game http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EGDEDA/ref=nosim/102-8228073-7896915?n=468642

Blue Nintendo Ds with rare Nintendogs " best Friends " version. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EGDEDK/ref=nosim/102-8228073-7896915?n=468642

Both are only 99$, and whichever one you buy, it comes with a free toy valued at 25$, yours to choose from a selected variety i believe.

this is for a very limited time and are selling fast, so if you want a DS and game at this price, i would suggest you jump on this fast.

good luck

Just an FYI there is a new slim DS that is coming out very very soon- like in the next month I believe. So at that point I bet the price of the regular DS will go down. The size is shrinking by about 20%....my ds is saving for that one. It will have brightness features also- I think it is going for $125 in presale(without a game)

A regular DS right now, at least where I have seen it is 130, though you can go to a gamestore and maybe buy it used. Then there is the DS Lite, that is a 1/3 smaller, and like 4 times brighter. That is 150 and comes out June 11. Hope I could help.

DH works at Nintendo and I got to play with the new lite. It was neat, but could not play the same games as the DS.

Oh my DS would just die if he knew that you got to play it. Now don't tell me that you got to preview the Revolution/Wie or whatever they are calling it now!
So it will not be able to play existing games from the DS? I ask because ds broke his ds and was looking to "upgrade" to the lite so he could play his zelda games. no can do?
DS wants to take a Computer Graphics/video game design class this summer.(he just turned 12 so video games are his life.... I guess your DH's also lol)

It's funny how much different information is out there! :)

Around here the DS Lite is preselling for $129 and as far as I know you can play all the games on it as you can on the regular DS. DH and I are huge gamers and very up to date with nintendo information.

I checked my favorite gaming site www.ign.com and they say nothing about it not playing all the games.

I'm planning on getting a Lite for myself, but if it can't play everything, i won't. I just don't see Nintendo doing that...

The regular DS for $99 with a game is a great deal. You should be seeing more deals like that. The Lite releases on June 11th, which is weird cuz it's a Sunday...

This is from ign:
Nintendo has not revealed if it plans on reducing the price on the existing Nintendo DS systems, or if the DS Lite will fully replace it in retail stores when it ships in June.

They haven't said anything, but you can bet the price will drop.

I just wish it came in more colors besides white!

I'm sooo sorry!

I was wrong...it was not the DS Lite that I played with, it was the micro!!!

Yes, the Lite will play DS games. (It was late...I was confused )

It is the micro that will not.

DH did a bunch of the code for the revolution (wii) ....he made a demo drum set game. He is off to E3 this week to demo it.

Whew! I thought you might have been thinking of the micro.
Thanks for the update! :)

Hey! if your DH ever hears about a job opening for an artist (computer or otherwise) gimme a PM! :) DH would die to work for Nintendo!

Is your DH at E3? (PM me!)

Ok my 12 year old has been following this thread and can not contain himself. He was quoting me things about E3 and my eyes were glazing over. Tressa I think he wants you to adopt him. :rotfl2:
As for the colors..you know that they will release with that boring white.... then come out with great colors 6 months from now- well after we have it. But you know my kids do really like those game skins! Finally something that is reasonably priced to individualize your systems(works great in a house like ours where we have several of the same system for different children)

Good call, I forgot about skins. i think DH would have a heart attack if I "defaced" my DS though. :)

Your poor son is at school while everything is going down at E3 today. Sony and Microsoft already had their conferences. I know most of that stuff. I should tell you a couple things so when your son gets home, you can shock him! "Hey honey, guess what? The PS3 is going to cost $599 and you aren't getting one!" :lmao:
Seriously though it could be fun if you want to. PM me with his favorite system and I'll give you a couple of facts. He'll think you're so cool!

DS wants to ask:

How much will the "Revolution Wii" cost? Any information about it you could share? When is it coming out? Any Mario games for this? Will I be able to play Nintendo DS on it - like GB Advance games on the Game Cube? Any information about the Super Smash Brothers for it?

Thanks for answering all these questions. Inquiring minds want to know!! :thumbsup2

Thanks again from son Devon (DS 14)! My son is officially starting to become a "DISer" and reaping the benefits!!!!! ;)

I could tell you that there is a new Mario game coming out, but it will not be out till sometime next year. Two known launch games are Zelda Twillight Princess Wii Version and Metroid Prime 3. Oh yeah, and Red Steel. Nintendo has stated there will be 20 launch games, 1/3 being Nintendo's own games.

That's a lot of questions, lol. I'll do my best to answer.

The Wii price has not yet been released, it is rumored to be between $150-250.

It's a small system, with the new controller probably making it the most innovative next gen console. You can play Game Cube games on it, it has slots for Game Cube controllers. It is also WiFi enabled to allow you to download tons of games from Nintendo's earlier consoles.

No specific date was given at E3, but they said Q4 of 2006.

There will be Mario games, Super Mario Galaxy will be the main game. It is supposed to be a true sequel to Super Mario 64.

I don't think you will be able to do that, but I'm pretty sure there will be games that will incorporate the DS with the Wii.

The new Super Smash Bros, is called Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It is a game you can play online, and looks gorgeous. lol. Here's the link to the official site:

What exactly does he do, is he a programmer that actually got to work on the controller? Also, why the name Wii? lol I can live with it, but I must ask where that came from.

I would strongly advise buying a used DS. My son has had such trouble with the DS, and has had his replaced by Nintendo twice. The touch screen is just very temperamental. If you buy a used one, you would probably get a 30 day warranty, whereas with a new one, you will get a full year warranty. And even if you get a replacement on day 364, the warranty on the replacement will be for a full year from then.

wow, that stinks, I have had no problem with mine and I have had it since a month after launch. It is one of those one in a million chances. Actually, now that I think about it, I haven't had any problem with Nintendo.

Well, I would guess it is not nearly that rare. I know of 2 other people at my son's school who had the same problem. Now, Nintendo is a great company. They sent me a replacement in the mail and then we sent the broken one in to them. Even shipping was free. We have washed games and they still worked too. Their stuff is built to last, but the touch screen needs to be tweaked. Hopefully with the light it has been.

We have had the Original Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Gamecube, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance and now Nintendo DS. Never had a single problem with any of them until the DS.

For $30 more, I would definitely spring for the new vs. use, just to be safe.
