I typically walk or jog in the morning (trying to keep as much of these 100 pounds I lost off as I can!), and am looking for some new ideas. When I stay at the BoardWalk, I just do the loop around Crescent Lake, or do the spur from the BoardWalk down to D-MGM. When I stay at Wilderness Lodge, I just do the trail to the Pioneer Hall. Do folks prefer any other paths for a 3-4 mile walk/jog, at those two hotels?

I'm sorry I don't have any tips, but I wanted to congratulate you on your weight loss! That is an amazing accomplishment! Just the fact that you are looking for places to walk says that you are committed to keeping it off! I think just walking through the parks is a work-out in itself! My family likes to walk around the World Showcase at Epcot several times!

:flower:

Wow, that is quite an accomplishment! You say you are the "antisensationalism patrol"...but your weight loss is sensational! Congrats!

When we stay at the BC, we usually run about 4 miles a day. We start out by running the sidewalk/perimeter around the BC/YC/Swan/Dolphin, take a left across from Fantasia Mini-Golf and over the MGM canal and then down to the
walkway that runs adjacent to the canal (either the boardwalk side or S/D side).
Then around Crescent lake for 3 laps. We figure just about 2 miles for the first
part of the run (BC front gate to the Boardwalk) and then another 2 miles around Crescent lake. I said 3 laps, but it's really 2 1/2 from the point where we enter.

Hope that helps!

POR had lots of beautiful paths that intertwined with each other and the two sections of the resort. You'd also have the company of baby bunnies, squirrels, ducks etc.

Thanks for the kind words, folks.

That is one of the best things about POR -- it really is a walkers paradise (though jogging is a bit hazardous, eh?).

As an aside, one of the great things about the path from WL to Fort Wilderness, that I mentioned earlier, is that it does end (remarkably) at Fort Wilderness, with as many paths as you could care for -- as much variety as you could want. However, after doing the 2 miles (?) from WL to Fort Wilderness, and factoring in that you have to do the 2 miles back, we usually don't have much left to spend going around Fort Wilderness itself.

Thanks for the description of your walking path at BC/YC/Swan/Dolphin. I'm not sure I know how to get to the walkway on the S/D side, except through the Swan lobby. I've never followed that walkway, so I'm not sure where it goes. Are you saying that it connects back around to the walkway in front of the Dolphin?

Another nice run of about 4 miles is OKW, "nature trail" toward SSR/DTD(the start is by villas 54-55), through DTD and back. A portion of it is through woods, along the canals, and then for contrast you go through DTD. It sure has a different look/feel to it in the daytime without anyone there except CMs.

Yes. If you picture the canal that goes from the Epcot resorts to MGM, there
is a walkway on the Boardwalk side and across on the S/D side. Both paths are accessible from the bridge on the road (not sure of it's name) that passes over the canal. The S/D path is not as wide as the boardwalk path, more trees and ends at the Swan entrance/ bus stop. You can still make your way through the
back of the Swan and you'll end up at the walkway /bridge that's between the S/D and heads over to the Boardwalk. It sounds more complicated than it really is.
