My mom and I were planning on going to the CBR this summer, but the main pool is going to be closed for refurbishment :sad1: . What do you think the best moderate is? Should we just suck it up and deal with it? Any suggestions?

You will find many, many threads on this. Our favorite is the CSR. DH and I will be making our 7th trip there this September for our 25th wedding anniversary.

My daughter and I love love love POFQ. Great food court, fun pool, small layout so minimum walking to pool, restaurant and bus stop. First on the bus, and first off the bus back at hotel (Big +) Fun boat ride to DTD or just over to Riverside for more excellent food, large gift shop, fun pool. We have stayed at all the moderates and AKL and POFQ is our favorite mod. Hoping to stay at Wilderness Lodge sometime though.

Another vote for POFQ. Its smaller than the other moderates, and it is a little more centrally located as well.

I am a die hard fan of CBR!! Love it! Each section of the resort has its own quiet pool. Those are still open. It won't have a slide and all like the main pool does but its still a pool and they are a decent size.

However if its a main pool you are looking for the POR is very nice. Plus at the resort you can take a nice boat ride to Down Town Disney. We thought this was really nice especially at night:thumbsup2

POFQ, whose size gives it the tiniest bump of an advantage over POR-but you can't lose with either, really.

POR is awesome! We loved the main pool, and the boat ride to DTD is really nice. We took the boat over to POFQ one evening, and my kids loved the pool there too. As far as amenities, it's like having two resorts in one. For our Land/Sea package, we will be staying at POFQ because of the smaller size.

Happy planning!

The only moderate we have ever stayed at is POFQ. None of the other ones really appeal to us. We loved how small the resort was...it was cozy. We also liked the boat to DTD, that was nice. We had wonderful bus service here. The only thing I wasn't thrilled about was the food court. I honestly thought the food court at All Star Movies had a better selection but that place is insane! I would stay at POFQ again in a heart beat. In fact we had it booked again for this March but decided to splurge on WL instead.

A great pool & waterslide are very important to my family. We prefer CSR: the pool there is fantastic and it has the longest waterslide of any of the moderates. The resort is also is beautiful, has wonderful food options, the best buses at WDW and its own nightclub.

While I like POFQ resort, the pool is designed for little kids, and has a very gentle dragon's tongue waterslide. Little kids LOVE this pool and it is always full of them, which can be rather daunting to those of us without little kids. However, guests of POFQ can use the pool at PO next door as well as the one at POFQ.

The CBR is by far my favorite moderate resort!!! As for the refurbishment of the main pool - we never use it - it is so nice to use the quiet pools and most of the time there is not a crowd!! Have a great trip.......

I was in this similiar position earlier in the week. I wanted to upgrade to a mod from a value, but I couldnt figure out which one. We agreed (thanks to DIS) on CBR our second option was POR, the grounds are beautiful, you can't go wrong there!

CSR would be my choice for a mod every time. No shared transportation, a great main pool area and the food options are the best. :thumbsup2

The only mod I've ever stayed at was POFQ, and we loved it. We're staying at CSR in June on a conference rate, but I will really miss that POFQ boat to Downtown Disney. You can literally fly over to DD at the last minute just to pick something up. I read somewhere that the bus to DD from CSR is like 30 minutes or something. Yuck! Also POFQ buses share with POR, but POFQ gets picked up first. I always felt so sorry for those POR guests who had no seats. POFQ is small and quiet. The walk to the food area in the morning is so, so pleasant.

The ride itself to DtD is about 15-20 mins depending on traffic. You may wait 15 mins at the resort for the bus totaling 30 mins. But most likely you will have a seat. The buses usually are less crowded because its a convention resort.

I agree POR is awsome. I do not have any other resort to compare. I just know I really enjoyed POR.

POR is definitely my choice, seems more intimate than some of the other resorts, very quiet, great pool and food court and great location being able to hop on a boat to downtown disney.
