Best Moderate with Young Kids

Hello Everyone! I think this is my first post in this forum, but I have been reading for awhile. I have never stayed in a Disney Resort but decided after my recent cruise on the Wonder that I will never stay off property again. I love how Disney makes everyone feel so special!! Anyway, my DH and I are planning our trip for this December. We wanted to stay at a Value resort because they look like the most exciting for our young kids (DS 3 & DD 5). Then my parents got involved!! They will be coming with us (I am really happy about this, my kids will love to spend some time with them and DH and I may get some breaks). They stayed at POR last trip and want to stay there again. DH and I can't decide what to do now. We could stay at a Moderate Resort but want it to be fun for the kids. My mother thinks we should go with a low-key resort because the kids will be over-stimulated by the parks anyway. POR looks too fancy for me, my kids are fairly well-behaved but I don't want to worry about their every move. Are there better moderate resorts for us?

So after my long rambling story, my question is--what moderate priced resort is the best bet for preschool aged kids, and why? Thank You!!!

I stayed at POR a few years back when it was Dixie Landings and enjoyed it. During our visit (in January), we saw many children at the hotel, but not an obnoxious number (not crowds of roaming jr. high schoolers and high schoolers as they can get at the value resorts).

We have a toddler and infant and chose POFQ over POR for our upcoming trip for two reasons: (1) the pool with a neat dragon slide which will appeal to my water-loving son and (2) the POFQ is half the size of POR, so less walking for the little ones. POR and POFQ are next to each other. Although it is only a 10-15 minute walk between the two hotels, there is also a boat that can be taken between the hotels and/or from one of the two hotels to Downtown Disney (where there are several restaurants).

There is nothing in either hotel that is inappropriate for young kids -- no fancy breakables in your room, for instance. I think either POR or POFQ would be a good choice!

I think the POFQ would be a great choice with young kids. It's a lot smaller than the other moderates, and a lot more managable than the other walks. Even the most remote rooms are only about a five minute walk to the food court. You can have lengthy walks from the others. The other thing that I personally like about the POFQ is that the buses stop there before heading over to the POR, so I can always get a seat on the bus.

I'd say either POFQ or CBR and I say CBR because of the "beach" and the playground right on the beach. If you want something for your kids to keep them entertained at the resort, but low-key and relaxing, I love CBR for this reason. There are hammocks on the beach there and you can just relax while the kids play on the playground or dig in the sand. CBR is more spread out, but you could request a closer building if that's a priority. Have a great time!

I'm another big fan of POFQ - It's very pretty but it's certainly not too fancy for kids - you won't have to worry about them running around or letting off steam like kids do.
There is a nice playground and the pool is very kid friendly. I just thought it was beautiful, and a relaxing atmosphere which I agree with your mum is a good antidote to the parks. I also really liked the smaller size, very very handy for everything.

Here's another vote for POFQ! We choose this one because it is so small and compact- not a very far walk to anywhere. This is great for young kids. If you swim, the pool has a very cool slide in the shape of a serpant. There are fun alligator statues that my kids love. It is very kid- friendly. However, we've stayed at POR in the mansion section and it was kid-friendly. The walks to the bus stop and food court are longer at POR. My vote is POFQ!
