In the VERY early stages of planning a trip for the whole family (me, DH, DD, DS, DDIL, 3 DGSs 9-8-6) for Sept/Oct 2017. Hoping for Free Dining at a Moderate I am looking for opinions which Mod has the best pool and playground areas as I think we will spend a fair amount of time at the resort. I am currently leaning toward CBR.

Opinions?

Caribbean Beach is probably the most interesting across that age range. There's a splash play area for the under 48" crowd (possible with your 6?), and the pirate ship theme in the main pool is pretty killer. There are two water slides in the main pool, and there's a zero access entry there.

The pool at CSR is very nice and has a really good waterslide, but no splash pad area or zero entry.

They're building a water playground at POFQ, but if you have an eye to discounts or free dining, POFQ usually doesn't get those. POR has a pretty good pool as well, but no splash area like at CBR.

If you have an eye to the discount, your best chance is at CBR. I think the CBR pool area will be great for those ages.

The pool at CBR has the best theming and the best "little kids" area, but Coronado's slide blows the slide at CBR away. My wife loves Coronado, but says she "didn't like CBR at all", and I think that's 95% because of the pool slide :)

Coronado also has more to do near the pool (playground, table tennis, big checkers). CBR's playground is a bridge away from the main pool, and not connected.

With your grandkids's ages, however, CBR may be your best bet due to the splash area.

We stayed at CSR with 1 DGS when he was 2 1/2 and he loved the slide at CSR but was not impressed with the play area. It is on my radar though, depending on the discount situation. Thank you all for the input!

With the kids 6 and up, I'd recommend Coronado Springs pool- it sits in front of an awesome pyramid with water cascading down into the pool, and it has a pretty big almost- waterpark worthy water slide- it ends into relatively shallow water- 3- 3/12 feet. The kids will love it.

It doesn't have a small kiddie "splash" area, but I think the kids that age will appreciate the pool more.

I vote for Coronado. Amazing pool and the best playground on Disney property. :) Right by the pool. And the pool bar. :)

I would say CBR as it has something for all the kids in your group. It's our favorite resort as a whole with the pool being a big part of that.

IF I was a little kid I would probably pick CBR. But as an adult I will never stay there again. It has been our least favorite resort thus far. CS has a great waterslide!!! But little ones would probably pick CBR for pool area

If you plan on spending time at the resort and you want to really blow their minds...stay at BC (if budget allows). Best pool on DW property!!!

nope, well actually budget could allow but I am way too cheap!

You might want to think about the Fort Wilderness Cabins. It would be a great place to explore if you're planning on spending a lot of time at the resort.

As many have said, CBR and CSR are your best options for mod pool areas. They are both beautifully themed! The zero entry and splash pad make CBR very desirable for families with younger children. But, besides the water slide, CSR has a complete pool "deck" area (meaning that the main pool, kiddie pool, playground, volleyball, and QS/drinks are all together).

Currently POFQ is adding a childrens play area that is looking to open at the end of February. POR is also currently under a Pool refurb that is set to open in March. I have only ever stayed at those moderates and found the pools very nice.

I am all over the place with this trip. Thank the Lord it isnt until next year!! DD is a TM at Universal and often gets substantial discounts at the resorts there. BUT DH (who really would love to avoid this trip!!) feels that DME and the ability to get around without all being together all the time, like when he gets cranky & needs to back to the resort for a nap, outweighs DD's discount. I'm still not convinced and will need to run numbers. We (I) are currently planning 1 day each at US/IOA, Sea World both of which we get into free courtesy of DD, and 1 each at MK & AK and perhaps a water park day. I will be asking for lots of advice!!

We have stayed at all of the 4 Mod Resorts and have found them all to be very Nice, each has unique themed pool areas. I would go with the Mod that you like the theme of and keep in mind that if FD is offered that they limit rooms and sometimes don't offer certain MOD for FD (like POFQ). I usually list my 1st choice MOD and then go down the list until I can snag a room for the Discount. I have not been disappointed in any of the Mods.
