Best Memories of DLRP??

Lots but the most recent being with god daughter (3) who having been up since 4am when we started travelling would not get changed so was in park in her Tigger pj's and coat! We went to meet Ariel and as we went up to her she said "It's Lucy isn't it?" to my god daughter.

Her face had an expression which I can only describe as wonderment on it when she thought that Ariel knew her name. Although she didn't realise it, the adults knew she had her hotel name badge on but we still think it was Disney magic that helped Ariel along and not that badge.

September 01, our second trip, just me and my now husband.

It was raining. We went to Buzz Lightyear's Pizza Planet for lunch. It was heaving busy inside so we sat outside under one of the umbrella things. There I was chatting away and all of a sudden B was on the floor. I thought he had fallen off his chair.

So there he is, one knee in a puddle, in the rain, pizza sauce on his face, and asked me to marry him. I was so shocked I couldn't speak for ages. The japanese tourists watching us gave us a round of applause!

That same day we rode BTM and had a big old snog right where the camera is - we bought that photo (we rarely buy them, but had to have that one)

And then that night at dinner in California Grill we had the best waiter ever, who gave us lots of freebies when he heard we'd got engaged that day, they invited us to sign the visitor book (which we now do every year). And finally, there was a random unscheduled fireworks display over the castle, which we watched from the best table in the house at the CG, it was like they'd put it on just for us.

Magic indeed.

I can't better Emergency Kitten, but here's my magic moment anyway.

Easter 2006, it was DD (14) and my first visit to DLP, we had booked a package which included Disney Express. This meant we were given our park tickets at Waterloo, before we got on the Eurostar, we were in one of the first few carriages so on arrival dashed upstairs to hand over our luggage, we were the first ones there.

We had assumed we would need to take a shuttle to the park, so imagine our surprise when we emerged from station, and there was the park! We were like two kids, running down to the entrance, we grabbed FPs for BTM and went straight on PM, all within 15 minutes of arrival!

Sadly running is pretty much impossible for me now, so this is probably a never to be repeated experience :tiptoe:

my most precious memory of disney was back in 2001, when we went for 2 days with a charity following my daughters 6 week intense radiotheraphy treatment. To see her little face light up when she saw sleeping beauties castle was just magical. And the delight of her squealing as she propelled dumbo up towards the sky with me hanging on for dear life. :lovestruc
saddly she passed away a few monthes later but disney and the magic just stays with u doesnt it.

Since then we have returned twice and had an awesome time. my most magical moment this year was chrushes coaster totally awesome ride, and prior to that the year before when i decided i was going to be very very brave and do all the rollercoaster rides, i even did aerosmith 6 times!!!
Also this january when my 5 year old son got to meet sleeping beauty, they had changed over princesses the year before just before he got to see her and he was devastated. this year i begged her minder not to let her go til he had met her and he was the last one, i was so choked:love:

I hope nobody minds me bumping this thread back up, but it's been quite a while, and we've had a few people go on very magical trips since the last post, so I'd love to hear some more magic memories!

Other than my engagement, which I think will never be beaten, my most magical DLRP moment was watching Candlebration during the first night of our January trip when they lit the christmas castle lights!

It was a complete surpirse to me! And the I had secretly been hoping all day that they would, but 'knew' that they wouldn't as it was a couple of week after the end of the Xmas season.

I cried and cried and cried. And then they had to go and play 'Just Like we Dreamed it' afterwards which just set me off even more. It was like all the magic Disney could muster was shooting right at me!

Same thing happened on our last night, and even knew it was coming it hit me so hard again, as all the emotion of the whole trip and having to leave were too much for me! I cried all the way from the Castle back to the DLH lobby.

i am trying so hard to think of just one specific thing but its so hard. for me its just amazing the whole time. some highlights for me would be

friar tuck at cafe mickey our first trip. he tried so hard to cheer ash up and he was so funny.

seeing real snow me and ash never got dressed so quick and the whole park was magical

at the end of the mnsshp ash wanted one last go on the carousel so we were waiting for it to finish its round and ash was in my arms she looked at me and said weeee babas i love the horseees and then she put her head down and was fast asleep. poor girl she had been up since emh that morning and it was now eleven. it was great that was her last memory of the park.

oh and also in february seeing the alternative candleabration. they still had the chistmas lights on and minnie and mickey were on the balcony. on our last night i really wanted to see it but our meal in silver spur was so slow we thought it was half seven but just entering main st the music started up and we were right on time. it felt like the whole park waited just for me lol!!!!

Can´t believe I hadn´t seen this thread until now! :surfweb:
My most magical memory would be the moment when I first entered Main Street. Like Ware Bears I had been to WDW before and had always thought there was no point in travelling to DLP, because I believed it could never be as magical as WDW ( so arrogant of me:headache:). But when I saw the castle and heard the music I realised that it was just as wonderful and it is only a 5 hours drive away from home!
The second precious memory is from my Halloween trip in 2006, which I had won. Having the studios just opened to our group and being able to ride RnRC as often as I wanted to (and could handle:rotfl:) was so special.:wizard:

Ok another favourite memory of DLRP is seeing the Enchanted Candleabration, everything about it makes me want to cry happy tears.

Also meeting the Mad Hatter last September, who would of realised that i would love him and want to marry him :lmao:

My first visit was in June 1992 (2 months after the park opened), and my ex and I stayed at the DLP Hotel for our 10th Anniversary during a 3-week Europe tour.

3 years later, I remember being in the park on Thanksgiving Day (yes, we're American) and it was ACTUALLY snowing (not Disney magic). Also on this trip, I was collecting coffee mugs from each resort hotel (as I have a huge mug collection), and one of the Cast Members at the Santa Fe resort offered to have a mug from the campground shipped to her store. She really went out of the way to provide the Disney experience. It just meant another day we had to walk all the way out to Santa Fe to pick it up!!

I'm looking forward to spending a week at DLP in October with my new DP, and creating some memories of our own!!

What a great thread!:thumbsup2

em my best memory of DLRP would have to be my very first visit, in 2003, was on a school trip and I am terribly ashamed to admit it but I was a little skeptical... but in my defence I was a moody teenager who was "too cool" for just about everything...:cool2: anyway as soon as I walked onto main street, heard the music playing in the streets and saw the pink castle in the distance well my 'coolness' rapidly slipped away, I was completely converted and I havn't looked back since!:lovestruc

hoping to create some more great memories this june!

xoxo

Has to be when my boy saw his favourites chip and dale for the first time. His little face was an absolute joy. Chip pretended to pinch his fantasia hat and ran off with it. Just lovely memories.

Fantillusion parade for the first time was so magical, the lights and the colour. Superb.

I'm loving reading everyone's best memories :goodvibes I have lots of great memories. I remember taking ds for his first trip in August 1994 and he was scared of all the characters until our last day when we had a character breakfast, after that he just wouldn't leave Jiminy Cricket alone :goodvibes Another memory, not sure how fond of this one I should be was when my oh was absolutely doing my head in, I was tired and stressed out about the trip home and I could have smacked him over the head with my newly purchased Mickey Mouse with ears umbrella :rotfl: Have some fab memories with dd too, it was so much fun last October and I was so happy when Donald took hold of her hand to take her to see Minnie, she was so excited !! I think dd's favourite moment was when she met Ariel and sang to her, I cried :goodvibes We also had Sally take her for a walk and Chip n Dale had great fun with ds and dh, here are a few photos :goodvibes

This picture sums it all up for me, it was the first day of the Christmas season in 2002 and it was our very first visit. My eldest daughter is on the left, me in the middle and my youngest on the right.
I will never forget coming out from under the main entrance and seeing this view.:lovestruc

Oh what a lovely thread this is - it has brought tears to my eyes all the way through. Thanks for bumping it back, Bob :goodvibes

It is so hard to pick a special memory as there are so many of them, but one that makes me go 'awww' would be the last day of our August trip last year.

My 4yr old DD was absolutely exhausted and as we were walking out of the park for the last time she fell asleep on DH's shoulder. We got to just near the Village when she opened her eyes and said 'Bye Bye Disney, see you soon' and promptly fell back asleep.

So many special moments and lovely memories :cloud9: I've just read this whole thread through again ~ thanks for bumping it up, Bob. :thumbsup2

Ive just read all this through again and just realised Ive never replied on it

I have so many memories of DLP

Like a few others we also thought DLP would be awful compared to WDW and couldnt bring ourselves to visit until a few years ago when we were staying in a caravan close by. We decided to go for a day trip, then decided we'd stay over for a night, which then expanded into 2 nights. We loved it so much that we didnt want to leave and as the park was open til 11 that night trialling EMH we stayed to the end and booked another night in a cheap off site hotel - we were well and truly hooked and realised the magic was at DLP as well.

Other memories:

when we were Stars of the Day in the Studios which ended with us riding on the last float of the parade with Mickey

seeing DDs face when she met her favourite Princess Belle - she was speechless

seeing DDs face in February when she woke up and found herself in the carpark at hotel New York - we had driven all the way from home without her knowing where we were going
then seeing her face when we booked into the DLH 2 days later as she realised she wasnt going home that day as she thought

i could go on and on
