It will be me, DH and DS12. So, unfortunately for me, no princess breakfasts. But, we'd like to book at least a couple mornings in the park.

What's the best sit-down and/or character breakfast in your opinion? Also, how early can you book? We'd like to already be in the park when it opens. Thanks in advance!

One of our favorites for breakfast is at the Carnation Cafe, right on Main Street!! Love sitting there & watching everyone go by. The food is delicious & if you're lucky, you can meet Chef Oscar......he's been with Disneyland since almost the very beginning!! Wonderful man who loves to come out & visit with customers.

I would highly reccomend Minnies Breakfast in the park at Plaza inn.
Theres a TON of characters and I really liek the food.
Characters I have seen:
Chip-dale
captain hook
pinnocio
pooh
eeyore
tigger
rabbit from pooh
white rabbit
fairy god mother from cinderella
minnie
pluto
max
honest john
and a few others I am totally blanking on right now.

Best character breakfast that we have had isGK, best in park, Minnie and Friends.

Do you guys know if you can book a reservation before the park opens, so we are inside at rope drop?

Just remember you can not get into the park until it opens.

Yes you can. We prefer Minnie's for brunch - we ride rides and collect FPs for a couple hours that stop at Minnie's somewhere between 10am-11am.

That's my question. At WDW you can enter the park before it opens for your breakfast reservation. We eat and hang out there until the park opens. That's what we're looking to do in this case. So, if Disneyland opens at 8am, can I make a 7am ressie for breakfast at the Plaza Inn?

You are correct in your thinking, yes you can make the reservation if offered at that time and you can go M and F and eat but can not enter the park(rides etc) until it opens. Rope drop does not happen every day.
My experience has been it happens when the line at the entrance gets too long and they move people into the park to offset the crowding.

On early entry days you can make your reservation (at Minnie and Friends) during the EE hour. You will be escorted from the gate by a CM to the Plaza Inn. If you're lucky you finish quick and get to take advantage of EE for a few minutes.

Minnie and Friends is our favorite. Time and time again we have excellent character interaction. If you do make a res for really early you will find that the resturant is pretty empty and you get to spend a lot of time with the characters.

You must have lucked out with the MM if you did not have the MM on your ticket or staying at a resort hotel. No one was allowed to go in until the park had opened.

We've done this too - made early reservations at Minnie's on an MM day where we did not have MM or were not staying on site. You are literally escorted from the gate to the door of the restaurant :thumbsup2 It was a great time to go and not too busy :thumbsup2

I am not implying getting into the eating area,(we were also escorted) they would not let us enter the park after our meal was finished until the park had opened at 0800.(non mm day) Maybe this has changed?

We do this EVERY year. Make the first reservation. Eat, visit with all the characters then we are on our way. Usually about 10 minutes before the park opens to the public.

Lucks nothing to do with it. There is nothing about having to have MM to eat at Minnie & Friends during the MM hour. I did this last September and we even finished and were out probably 15 minutes or so before the Park officially opened.

Ok, let me see if I'm processing correctly. My park hoppers have the bonus MM day included. So, I just figured we'd head straight to the rides that day.

But for non-MM days, I want to make my reservation for say 8am, if the park opens at 9am. That's my hope, to be in the restaurant when the park opens on non-MM days so we can dash out, or do we have to go back to the gates?

Unfortunately they don't start that early with reservations on a non MM day. The times that I have gone I always make mine for the first available time and on a non-MM day it was 20 minutes before the Park opened (so 8:40a if the park opened at 9a). Will you only be there for one MM day (even though you will only have access with your PH for one MM day)? Because if you are there for more than one MM day you can use your first day as your actual MM to do rides and then your 2nd make reservations for breakfast at the start of MM.

I don't think Jack was saying the PP was lucky to get to eat at Minnie's early on a MM morning without having MM. It sounds like he himself may have done this at some time. I interpreted what Jack said to mean that yes, you can eat at Minnie's before regular park opening, but if you finish eating early and are not eligible for early entry, you are not allowed into the active areas of the park until official opening time.

I don't believe Minnie's is open at 8 AM on a non-MM day when the park doesn't open until 9 AM. It is open at 8 AM on a MM day when regular park opening time is 9 AM.
