Best Hotels for Distances to Parks - Naps Essential

I have health issues that makes resting absolutely essential. If I don't take a mid-day nap when I get tired, I will generally have a high fever by that night. We're used to Disneyland where things are close together. Going to Disney World makes me a little nervous because things are so spread out.

Which hotel in DW is most centrally located? Is there such a hotel? If not, I'm trying to figure out how long it'll take to get back to the hotel from the furthest park. I'm hoping to be able to stay in a moderate level hotel, but if it needs to be deluxe, we'll make it happen.

I hope my questions make sense!

Honestly, I think you're best options are the monorail resorts. You are only a monorail ride from MK and Epcot which will probably be the ones you go to the most. All the moderates will take a bus ride and we found the busses to be more complicated and slower than the monorail.

That makes sense. I hope they have good deals next year!

Which park do you think you will be spending the most time at?

I'm not sure since I don't know much about Disney World yet. I'm thinking MK and Epcot will be the biggest draw for our family.

Then I definitely suggest a monorail resort if you can swing it.

I stayed at Coronado Springs last October, and I loved it. I could actually see Everest from my bus stop! It was actually fairly quick to get to all parks, but MK was definitely the farthest.

I too need naps or breaks everyday or I go into myoclonic seizures, and I did fine. I did make extensive use of the evening extra magic hours, which (despite popular opinion) I found to be not very crowded.

Are you travelling with a wheelchair/scooter/thing which needs the ramp? If you are, then I DEFINITELY suggest a monorail resort - there is no need to tie these down in a monorail, but that does add to the length of time waiting for and boarding buses.

Coronado would be a better fit for my finances, but I do travel with a scooter. Such a hard choice! How long did it take you to get from Coronado to each park (if you remember)?

Have you heard of the book "Open Mouse" from Passporter? It was the greatest $20 I ever spent!!! It has descriptions of every ride, restaurant, hotel, everything! It has the travelling distance from each hotel to each park. I have mine somewhere around here and I will pull it out tomorrow and post the travel times.

I really suggest getting the book if you are new to WDW or new to WDW with illness/disability. I bought it as a WDW vet but I was new to wheelchairs at Disney and it really taught me a lot!

Thanks! I'll order it today! You've been a great help :goodvibes

Must admit we feel a resort close to a theme park is essential, others hold very little appeal for us.

I would suggest a deluxe at either Magic Kingdom or EPCOT location.

If you go with a monorail hotel they are all wonderul. They are Poly, GF and CR. BLT is also at CR but it is dvc so can be expensive. If you rent ponts from a dvc member to make it more affordable unless you get a discount code. The nice thing about BLT and CR they are only a 5 to 10 minute walk into the magic kingdom. Beach Club is a short walk to epcot but it is not a monorail hote. Disney is a lot of walking even for the most hearty. You might want to rent an scooter for the length of the trip. There are many wonderfull outside companies. I would not rent directly from disney though because you need to return them as you leave the parks. If you get it from somewhere else you can use it all over the resort and throughout disney. Bring them on the monorail, buses, etc. If you rent a scooter it might be easier to do the Epcot deluxes so that might open things up a little beyond a monorail hotel. If BC, BW or Swan/Dolphin apeals to you more that might be the way to go. Hope this helps.

I have my own scooter, so I'll be set there. Renting points from a DVC member sounds appealing. Do you know where that can be done?

Sorry for all of the questions!

If you go to the dvc boars there is a rent and trade boards. If you click on davids rentals you can figure out how many points you need to rent. You click on the resorts you are interested in the kind of room, studio, 1 bdrm etc. and the dates. Then they calculate for you. He rents for $13 dollars a point. Or you can rent directly from a member for around $10. You do need to be a trusting person. You also need to be definate on your dates as most don't do refunds. Make sure you get a contract. Don't forget to check references. We have done this several times and will again in the spring. It really is much easier then it looks. Good luck and enjoy your trip.
