Hi, it's me, Astrid, that name from the dim and distant past!! (do I hear cries of 'who is she'?!! :confused3 )

We're off to see Mickey again in just 3 weeks - yay!! :woohoo:

Anyways I know from past experience that it's worse than useless taking my GHDs to Orlando as they do not heat up enough so I was hoping to buy of straighteners out there that will do the job well. Pete's daughter needs some too so we will go halves, so we'd rather pay a bit more for a good pair.

Has anyone got any recommendations of which ones to buy, and where to buy them?

Any help much appreciated. Ta guys! :cheer2:

I've got Farouk CHI straighteners - they're supposed to be the US GHD equivalent and they're fab. OR you get a pair of the new multi-voltage GHDs... :thumbsup2

Hi Astrid - long time no see :yay:

Make sure you check the working voltage of the straighteners is ok for the UK. You will need to change the plug as well.

Older model GHDs got some bad reports on BBC Watchdog a while ago - they were bursting into flames, even when turned off. I'm sure the newer models are ok though.

I have had 4 pairs of straighteners none of them come close to GHD they are fantastic worth every penny.

Hello!:) stranger!

Good to see you posting again!:thumbsup2

You can buy straighteners in Premium Outlets, there's just one haircare store there, sorry i can't remember the name of it :) Just ask for their equivilant of GHD's, they're about $95.

Or you could invest in the new style GHD's, they're multi voltage, and you KNOW they are gonna work at home and ANYWHERE abroad wether it's the Med or USA! I have a set and they're great!

Just remember, if you're buying GHD's to make certain you're buying the NEW style:)

Good Luck :goodvibes

Some great ideas - thanks guys :yay:

Netty - thanks for the link, going to have a look see now.

Audrey - It's good to be back  May just decide to invest in the new GHDs then. Have had mine about 3 years now so I could pass my old ones onto Pete's daughter and get myself a new pair. Shall have a search around to see how much they'll set me back. :flower3:

Hi,

I got my GHD's from www.beautysleuth.co.uk late last year, but they are the mk 3 model, and like you, were wondering which brands in the US are good to use. My hair is naturally curly and very thick! I hate it! So need very hot straighteners!

Anyhow went back onto this site to look for the new ones and they have lots of different deals on with the new mk 4 GHD's!

The cheapest is £99.95 on their own but there is this deal:
http://www.beautysleuth.co.uk/invt/GHD7266

The prices are almost £15 - £20 cheaper than other sites I have looked on.

Think I may go with this one and treat myself!:)

Postage is only £1.95 as well or £3.50 for next day delivery.

Karina

Brilliant link! Thanks Karina :flower3:
