Best GPS for 16 yr. old dd

DD will be turning 16 in a few weeks and we would like to get her a GPS for her car. I know nothing about them! I don't to pay for updates,etc. over the years. I want something that will last her a long time. Can you get a decent one in the $200 range?

I love the fact that mine is part of my cell phone. Check out if her cell phone has this capability.

I bought DD a Garmin for Christmas that has lifetime maps and traffic. She loves it! Its very user friendly and has the speech capability so she's not looking at the GPS while she's driving.

I have a Garmin which I like. I don't let my teenage driver use it though because I think it is quite distracting. Just sayin

Here in CT they can't use them at 16 or 17. Its like having the cell or i-pod, they can get it trouble with almost any electronic device.

Check to make sure she will not get in trouble before you get one for her.

My DS did take mine before he was 18 but the passenger was usually holding it and giving verbal directions.

We got our DS a Garmin Nuvi 255. It's easy to use and was only $119.00 from Best Buy!

My mom gave me her old Tomtom and I love it. I researched a ton to buy one for my inlaws for Christmas and went with a Tomtom as well since they are supposed to be the easiest to use out of the box which suits them.

When you buy it you can get them with lifetime traffic, maps or both. I got the one for the ILs for Christmas from Amazon for a very good price.

I bought DD16 a Garmin for Christmas with lifetime traffic. She doesn't use it much now but I wanted her to get used to it and be comfortable with it before she goes off to college in a year. Hers also came from Best Buy during a good sale right before Christmas.
