Just ate in Bubbas this evening!
Went in about 645pm having been thrown out of Universal early due to some private parties...grrrr but thats digressing to another story sorry
Was told it would be 10mins wait..but only waited 5 at most
We felt the food was underwhelming on this occasion. We were so looking forward to eating here, having enjoyed Bubba Gump Hong Kong last Sept. We thought it was brilliant then, even bought the Tshirt and had the souvenir glasses. And we loved the food.
This was not so good unfortunately
We shared Onion rings to start....huge portion, quite tasty...but greasy and all batter. We got quite tired of chewing through all that crispy batter.
Cocktails....way too much ice. Could hardly taste the drink.
I had salmon/veg skillet...over powered with capers and again greasy (btw we like any food, spicy or non spicy, foreign or home cook so we are very unfussy eaters). A side of skewer of shrimp was actually luke warm..and yes..again greasy/oily and the shrimp rubbery.
DH had the fish and chips. Fries were dry and stale. Fish so so. More hard crispy batter to chew through..
We shared a Mud pie desert...HUGE! Ice creams on a choc cookie/biscuit base. Would have been enough for 3/4! Pretty good to look at, and pretty good ice cream....but a quarter of the way through you realise thats all it is. Ice cream piled high with cream on top.
Great server. Great atmosphere. Servers do well to keep the atmosphere with trivia questions etc. And very helpful and efficient. Very impressed with how they handled a birthday, a girl was stood on her chair whilst a server got the whole restaurant to sing and clap...very nicely done for her I thought.
So....still 9/10 for theming, service and atmosphere...very generous portions, with imaginative serving. The childrens meals in cardboard boats and led light up tumblers looked great fun in particular. But watch what you order unless fried everything mass produced food is your thing. Good value though...our total bill for one starter, 2 mains, one side shrimp, one desert, one alcohol cocktail and one non-alcohol cocktail was just over $70.50
