Best food at Bubba Gump's

I hate to be negative but has anyone else felt that the food at Bubba Gumps was too salty? I am a salt lover and put it on almost everything, but I had the bucket of boat trash and the everything was so salty I could hardly eat it! I also ordered brocoli instead of fries (I needed something green at this point after days of fries) and it was hard as a rock and so salty, covered in parmesan cheese It was inedible. I asked for some more that was just steamed and they said it was already prepared ths way. Everyone else was ok with their food and it was a fun atmosphere.

Look at this..

My DW likes it burnt 5seconds per side.A 9volt shock and it would start beating againe...
The twice baked potatoe was huge!!

I can tell you this. Bubba Gumps does not take reservations and they do not have priority seating if you are a resort hotel guest. They are very, very busy, so expect a good wait unless you go at way off times. Even later, like 8:30 there is a long wait.

We went on Friday night and there was a concert at HRH that our kids wanted to get back for. The wait for a table was 90 minutes so we went to NASCAR Grille, and got seated with priority seating in like 5 minutes. . .their wait was about 45 minutes without priority.

We went back to Bubba Gumps Saturday night and waited for about 55 minutes (we had $100 worth of gift cards so we HAD to wait). The food was good enough, but our experience at the BG on Daytona Beach a few years ago was much better. I'll put more details in my trippie.

I have to say that I wasn't impressed with Bubba Gump's. I got the Mama's fried shrimp, and it tasted like frozen fried shrimp you get in the freezer section of the grocery store. Just a few fries came with it. My DH got the shrimp and grits and he really liked it. It was a huge portion of food, he couldn't eat it all.

I was surprised that salads were so much extra, and you don't even get free bread like you do at most comparable restaurants.

I enjoyed the atmosphere though. The waitstaff asked Forrest Gump trivia questions to the diners, it got pretty competitive!

Just ate in Bubbas this evening!
Went in about 645pm having been thrown out of Universal early due to some private parties...grrrr but thats digressing to another story sorry

Was told it would be 10mins wait..but only waited 5 at most

We felt the food was underwhelming on this occasion. We were so looking forward to eating here, having enjoyed Bubba Gump Hong Kong last Sept. We thought it was brilliant then, even bought the Tshirt and had the souvenir glasses. And we loved the food.

This was not so good unfortunately
We shared Onion rings to start....huge portion, quite tasty...but greasy and all batter. We got quite tired of chewing through all that crispy batter.
Cocktails....way too much ice. Could hardly taste the drink.
I had salmon/veg skillet...over powered with capers and again greasy (btw we like any food, spicy or non spicy, foreign or home cook so we are very unfussy eaters). A side of skewer of shrimp was actually luke warm..and yes..again greasy/oily and the shrimp rubbery.
DH had the fish and chips. Fries were dry and stale. Fish so so. More hard crispy batter to chew through..
We shared a Mud pie desert...HUGE! Ice creams on a choc cookie/biscuit base. Would have been enough for 3/4! Pretty good to look at, and pretty good ice cream....but a quarter of the way through you realise thats all it is. Ice cream piled high with cream on top.

Great server. Great atmosphere. Servers do well to keep the atmosphere with trivia questions etc. And very helpful and efficient. Very impressed with how they handled a birthday, a girl was stood on her chair whilst a server got the whole restaurant to sing and clap...very nicely done for her I thought.

So....still 9/10 for theming, service and atmosphere...very generous portions, with imaginative serving. The childrens meals in cardboard boats and led light up tumblers looked great fun in particular. But watch what you order unless fried everything mass produced food is your thing. Good value though...our total bill for one starter, 2 mains, one side shrimp, one desert, one alcohol cocktail and one non-alcohol cocktail was just over $70.50
