We plan on going to DW at the end of August. We know it's very hot then, and trying to decide which resort to stay at. I'm wondering if anyone has any preference of DVC resort during the summer months? :confused3

VWL's Pacific Northwest vibe "feels cool" even when it isn't, and the setting on the lake is just right for summer.

BCV has the best pool on property (though personally, I don't think it's all that and a bag of chips). AKV-Kidani's pool area isn't half bad either, but the Savannah is going to reinforce that "boy it's hot" feeling.

I agree with Brian. VWL is beautiful with some nice shady areas but you can certainly find the sun if you wanted to. Love it.:thumbsup2

If you do not have a car and plan on using Disney transportation, then I would focus on the resorts with Air Conditioned interior hallways. It makes the walk back to the room alot more comfortable. Some of the buildings at SSR and OKW can be a hike in the hot sun, or during a thunderstorm.

If you do have a car, then it is the exact opposite, as you can park steps from your room at those two resorts.

AKL Kidani is the best of both worlds as there is shaded parking under the building and interior halls.

Either way, summer can be hell.

We have gone the last three years in July or August and will be there in July this year. We stayed at SSR last year and chose to stay there again this year. The pool was always busy but did not seem too crowded because it is quite large. We liked being a short bus ride from Epcot and blizzard beach. The parks are pretty busy in the summer and SSR was really quiet. It was a nice break from the hustle and bustle and we really liked that.

BCV and BWV might be nice...you can take the boat to and from Epcot and HS...might add a cool breeze. And as another poster mentioned...the resorts with interior airconditioned hallways may be better than hiking around outside to get to your building. And being close to 2 parks...you won't have to sit in the heat for 20 minutes waiting on the bus.

We've stayed at both VWL and BLT in early August when it was quite warm. Both were great. If I had to choose between the two, I'd pick BLT. Both are on Bay Lake, but BLT pool is better in my opinion.

Don't even think of going to the boardwalk villas
Too many seniors reading Kindles at the quiet pool .
Too many kids at the main pool
please go elsewhere :rolleyes1
