To those who are Single DVC owners or Solo Travelers:

My sister has recently bought into DVC. She has offered to stay with Mom (90), so I can use her points. That way we can alternate, she goes one year and I go the other. I will more than likely be going solo and was wondering which DVC would be the best. I have thought about BCV since it is close to Epcot & DHS, but read that it can get pretty noisy. I like children, but also like my quiet time. I will more than likely go the first week of December, but not this year. Also reading in the Passporter Book, it looked like BLT was more popular among singles than BCV.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
:thanks::wave2:

Beach Club is fine, but I really prefer BWV for a nice adult vacation. Its such a nice location. Just my personal choice. Enjoy. Edited to say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE AKV (Jambo House side). Its just so perfectly layed back for a resort. So much to do there. If you prefer to relax some time at the resort, just stay there, if you prefer to have quiet in the middle of all the action, its BWV.

Gotta agree on the AKL-Jambo. That's where I'm posting from and I can't say enough good about it. And the value studios here are perfect for solo DVCers-I've spent many nights in them, including tonight. And this one happens to have a savannah view that's even better than the view I've had from savannah studios. However, I've stayed solo at every WDW DVC resort except OKW (although that's where DH and I stay together). I personally wouldn't stay at OKW solo. Maybe I'm a worrywart, but there's so much vegetation, I'd feel uneasy walking back to my room solo at night. However, other solos stay there and are very happy. But for a solo, I don't think you can beat the value studios here at AKV-Jambo. Shhhh! DVC's best secret!

I've been a single dvc owner since 1997 - never have I heard that any resort was more or less "good" for solos....that just makes no sense to me. Each resort has it's own theme, location and pros/cons. I'd pick the one you like best and stay there - you'll never avoid kids at WDW and being solo or part of a group has no bearing on whether you'll enjoy your resort.

What makes more sense to is determine what you plan to do & hope to get out of your trip, and pick the best resort for that. Example, if Food & Wine Festival is your main priority, by all means try for BWV or BCV. If you want to sit and enjoy the animals from your balcony, then Kidani or Jambo House would be your best bet. If you're spending most of your time at Downtown Disney (can't imagine why now that Pleasure Island is closed), then prehaps Saratoga Springs. I pick different resorts for different trips based on what I plan to do on that trip. I'll pick my dining choices and make other plans based on my resort - but, since I live in FL I'm fortunate to be able to get there often.

I have only stayed at BWV (last 2 trips I rented points as well as upcoming trip). I was solo for four days back in December 2008 and loved being able to walk to my 2 fav parks - Epcot and HS. Only suggestion I would make is ask to be close to elevator. The CM first put me in room #2001 which was very close to stairs (right outside my door) and was right next to Jellyrolls but it was noisy still at 2 a.m. and I felt uncomfortable coming in the stairway at 11 p.m. so I asked to be moved and got room #3041 which was perfect (both were boardwalk views). If I ever travel solo again, I would probably do a split stay to try some place new. I would like to try Yacht and/or Beach Club but since I rent points, the BCV don't have the great views that BWV offer. Sure wish the Poly would open up to DVC.....

Yeah, I agree it is all a matter of personal preference.

Just when I think I prefer one resort over the other... either 1) a new resort comes along with all the OOOOOOHH and AHHHH factors to draw my attention or 2) My taste changes and I decide on a different theme.

Either way, pick whichever location you want.

if you like being close to EPCOT and DHS, the BWVs are perfect (yes, the BCVs are very noisy, and there are many, many little ones).
aside from the close walk to 2 parks (or you can take the ferry), there are restaurants, 2 quiet pools and a themed pool, street performers, restaurants, community hall, etc

if you prefer a quieter experience, AKV is beautiful, with lots of animals and interesting CMs.
the other DVCs all have something special going for them, but i think the BWVs are most suited if you are looking for lots to do outside of the parks, as well as easy access to 2 parks :)

:thanks:

The last 3 times I have been to WDW, we have stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, OKW & the Polynesian.
I wanted to stay on the Boardwalk and was having a hard time deciding between the BCV or the BWV. Since it will be first my solo trip looks like I will opt for BWV.:)

I appreciate your input. I am usually the spontaneous one, but have turned into a planner. ;) My trip won't be for at least a couple of years.

Well, I would love to stay at the Animal Kingdom Villas, and am going to save my pennies to do that for early December 2011

I just left there a week ago today from a solo trip. There are so many great activities! Check out the jewelry making and the ceramics painting.

If you are thinking about going when the christmas decorations are up I would pick the Wilderness Lodge Villas personally. I have stayed at BWV,Beachclu,SSR and Wilderness and the one I keep going back to is the Wilderness. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing time then it would be my choice ( can you tell a am a little biased :lmao: )
