Best DVC advice you ever have gotten?

4) DVC works best when you plan ahead.
5) Buying more points is better than laying out the extra cash to DCL when you have too few points to cruise.

Buy where you plan to stay. We bought at Boardwalk and I love the location. I also agree about not sweating the little things. Now when we go down if a ride or attraction is closed we don't get stressed because we know we'll be coming back.

1. Buy where you want to stay (seems to be the universal sentiment) and enough points for a week at that resort.

2. Buy when it's right for you and don't obsess over what you could have gotten if you bought earlier.

3. Buy resale at OKW if 11 month window at other resorts is not important.

4. Participate in DIS Boards, great community of people.

5. Take your time to get answers to all of your questions (our guide and resale broker were fabulous, and very professional).

Also, since financial conditions and health changes over 40 years, buy several small contracts (e.g. 1 - 150 and 2 - 100 point add ons). It's a lot easier to sell, give, or will a small contract than it is to handle a large one. Small contracts go very quickly on resale. You can give each child a small contract. The point costs and annual dues are the same.

1) Buying DVC will encourage you to take a vacation every year - it is always so easy to push vacation down the priority list.

2) Planning vacations is half the fun.... OK 1/4 the fun .....OK 1/8 the fun....... OK 1/16 the fun...... of the actual vacation, but you always know its coming.

3) Planning ahead can save alot of dollars elsewhere as well - airfare, rental car, other hotels, etc.

4) Knowing you'll be back eliminates the commando, walk till you drop, stand in line forever because you have to ride this ride before you go, wow we ran ourselves into the ground but don't feel we saw everything and was that really a vacation mentality. We've been doing Disney for four years now (and even live in Florida now) and still haven't seen it all, but that's OK because we know we are going back!

Best Advice:

1) Buy now, cause Disney will make you look like Einstein in a short period of time.
2) No matter what you read, someone will always complain about something on these boards.
3) Don't worry, be happy! Your worst day at WDW is still better than your best day working.
4) Make ressies for restaurants and character meals ASAP.
5) The walk is not that far, so get over it and have a Magical Day!


Also noticed you have tiplets in puberty. Not there yet. Have 6 yo triplets (2 DS & 1 DD) and a 4 yo DD. Just bought a new and improved conversion van with all the electronic extras for our ride from Cleveland to our home at BCV. It dosn't get any better than this!!!

That means you'd have to add on 50 pts each and every year if you want to keep up with the skyrocketing points for cruise chart.

Best advice we got was to use the rent/trade board to get a fair $$ value for your points. Use the cash for the cruise.

I stand by my post. If the choice is laying out $1000-2500 cash for an extra person on the cruise vs. putting that money towards more DVC points, buying the points is a far better deal. No other choice is on the table besides paying cash for the extra person or buying the points.
