Someone mentioned getting Swan/Dolphin for $125. My daughter (cancer survivor) really
wants to stay there instead of Pop but I don't know how to get a rate low enough. I called and went on line and was quoted $244 + fees as lowest rate. Teacher discount. If you know a way to get it around $150 or lower, please share.

It depends on the time of year. For example, for the past two years there have been terrific $99/night rates (plus taxes and fees) at the Dolphin for travel dates in August and September.

When are you planning to go?

I have not seen 99 a night for Aug/Sept this year. But you can book the teacher rate online for 129-149(plus taxes and fees) a night for Sept.

When do they release these discounts...this might be an alternative for us I might consider since it is so close to DHS. Do you know if guest of Swan and Dolphin get to use Magical Express?

You cannot use magical express for Swan and Dolphin unfortunately.

I just booked a room for the end of August through Travelocity with an extra 20% off. For 7 nights, including tax and resort fee it came to $900. I am also getting a $100 food/beverage credit. It was a better rate than POR for the same time. It would be nice if there was a last minute $99 rate for August.

No, you can not use the Magical Express. Either taxi, approx $60 or Mears shuttle. I think Mears is about $20/pp one way.

I just checked back through my posts...last year, the $99 Starpicks rate ($121 with fees and taxes) for travel August 17-September 27 came out on August 15th. In 2009, it came out around July 24th.

The Starpicks rate for the Swan was around $109 ($132 with fees and taxes).

Even factoring in the fees, taxes and transportation, it's still an awesome deal for a deluxe property in a prime Epcot location.

I'm hoping similar great deals come out for October, but I'm not holding my breath.

What rates have you seen in the spring, beginning of May?

Check on Expedia, they are running a HECK of a discount right now for fall rooms, so much so that I am switching from The Boardwalk!!!

I know this year, in late March/early April, folks on the S/D thread were posting about a $129 rate at the Dolphin. It was available on the Sheraton and Starwood sites, and also on Travelocity.

This far out, it's hard to say what the May 2012 rates will be. You'll save some $$ with the AAA rate, but the key is checking the various websites (Kayak, Starwood, Swan/Dolphin, Sheraton, Travelocity , Expedia) often, as the S/D come out with new promotions all the time.

I saw the $125 on Travelocity for Sept, I think. But it goes up to $199 for the dates we're going - Oct 20 -24. That's still a good price though. I'm waiting for a 40% discount on one of the Boardwalk resorts in the next couple weeks. If it doesn't come through or there's no availability at BW or Beach, we'll probably go here. We're going for F&W so we want to be close.

Is the AAA discount a better rate than the teacher discount?
It can be...depends on the time of year. Last Labor Day, I had a AAA rate of $116 for the Swan, which was slightly better than the Teacher Rate of $129 offered for the same period.

Ultimately, the S/D came out with a Starpicks rate of $109, which was better than both of them.

Best advice I can give is to book the best refundable rate you can now, and check back - often - for lower rates.
