Our best counter service meals by far were at Wolfgang Puck Express in the Market area at Downtown Disney.

We ate ther three times during our 9 day trip. (On the dining plan)

We had basic stuff like pizza and chicken (loved it)

The desserts were not anything to write home about. sorry

All the rest, food, service, great.

I agree Wolfgang Puck is great. Some of the best pizza I have ever eaten was at the Wolfgang express in the Las Vegas airport.

But I think the best counter service at Disney, especially on the meal plan, is at the Sunshine seasons in the Land at Epcot. Awesome, we ate there in Feb. and I had the grill salmon with rice pilaf, and my wife I think had one of those huge pork chops. But the best part is the dessert. I think most people don't realize there is a seperate dessert counter with chef made desserts that is included with your meal. Each meal with entree, dessert and drink for lunch was about $13-$14 dollars. Who said the dining plan isn't a deal?:thumbsup2

We enjoy El Pirata Y El Perico and Pecos Bill's cafe in MK; Yakitori House in EPCOT (Japan); Backlot Express and Pizza Planet in DHS; Tusker House in AK. :thumbsup2 Our prerequisites are: good healthy food, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere and proximity to attractions. June 20th can't get here fast enough for this Disney family! :surfweb: popcorn:: :cool2: :hippie:

By far our favorite counter service for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. We love the breakfast pocket for breakfast and the beef and gorgonzola pocket for lunch/dinner. They also have amazing french fries.

I totally agree. We always eat dinner there at least twice per trip!!! Best CS on property, IMO.:goodvibes

WPE is one of our favs too! I was in the St Louis Aiport earlier this month and was thrilled to see one there...I had a caesar salad and a cup of butternut squash soup and I was instantly transported back to DTD!

Not sure if you're aware but Tusker House no longer is a Counter Service restaurant, they closed it a while ago and reopened as a buffet.

We went to WPE once on our trip (a week and a half ago) and I just had to try the Mac & Cheese, it was amazing. We ate there 2 days before we had to drive home and we didn't have the time to go back :( Next time we go (Late November/Early December) we'll definitely eat there multiple times. We were thinking of trying to stay at WLV or BCV but we may stay at SSR again so we'll be closeby :P

Shhhhhhh.. don't tell everyone! :rotfl2: ;)

We love it there too. We go on every trip at least twice. Staying at POR it is nice to take the boat over and enjoy it. I can't wait to see it this year since they renovated. :)

I guess it's not a secret any more.

One of the other posters mentioned one in japan, epcot.

Next time I'm going to try that one too.

We love WPE as well. We ate there twice last year, from pizza to chicken to salads...it was all superb and much higher quality than most of the other CS meals we had experienced. Although I must agree with another poster, Sunshine Seasons in Epcot is wonderful too. Our family was able to enjoy a wide variety...more adult fare for the grown-up's and they still had good kid choices (more selections than just Chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, and burgers). The dessert counter was incredible...excellent selection. Can't go wrong with either one...both are well worth it!

Wolfgang Puck Express was one of our favorites and a great value as a counter service. I can almost taste the butternut squash soup and I don't normally like squash and this was excellent. :cool1:

Pepper Market at Coronado Springs. You can easily spend $25 on a CS meal. The Mexican food is outstanding and they also offer Oriental, pasta, salad, sandwiches, brick oven pizza, steak... the list goes on :) Very tasty and all cooked in front of you. There's also a nice bakery for the dessert credit!

WPE's menu looks really good. Maybe we'll head there on our last day when we shop for souvenirs at DTD. We're staying at CSR so I think we will try to go to the Pepper Market. The menu there looks pretty good as well. We enjoyed eating at Cosmic Ray's at MK. They have many choices and interesting entertainment. The lines can be a bit confusing. They have separate lines for different items. This is not really a problem as long as you know this ahead of time.

How about some love for the Flame Tree Barbeque? Just the setting alone is worth it. We went away stuffed and had BBQ sauce smell lingering on our clothes for hours. YES!
