Best counter service at each park?

Agreed!

Flame tree in AK has grilled chicken leg as a choice for kids. My son got it last year and it was really good. I would have eaten myself!

Sunshine Seasons has a really good chicken leg/mashed potatoes combo, too, that I actually did eat myself!!

MK - Columbia Harbour House
Epcot - Tangerine Cafe
DHS - SKIP
AK - Flame Tree BBQ
DTD - Wolfgang Puck Express.

MK: Columbia Harbor House
EPCOT: Noodle Station in China pavilion
DHS: Backlot Express (although nothing at DHS is that great in our opinion)
AK: Flame Tree!

:thumbsup2 TX

Magic Kingdom-Cosmic Rays, Pecos Bills, Pinocchios

EPOCT-Sunshine Seasons

Animal Kingdom-Yak and Yeti counter service

DHS-No opinion never eaten there

DTD-Earl of Sandwich

I don't know what other people think, but I LOVED Tusker House when it was a counter service. Once it changed over to a TS, we've always gone to Flame Tree BBQ...

Other Parks:

MK- Caseys
DHS- Backlot Express
Epcot- Sunshine Seasons

I am excitedly planning our first trip for two months from today (woohoo!) We are on a pretty tight budget and don't think we can swing a single table service meal, so we're going to have to stick to counter service meals for everything. We plan to spend one day at each park and eat breakfast in our room each morning. I think we'll do Flame Tree Barbecue at AK (and go to Downtown Disney to hit Earl of Sandwich for dinner that day). I'm struggling with where to eat at Epcot, because DH is very picky (and DS9 has autism so we're safer if there's "normal" kids meals available!) And totally unsure about about Hollywood Studios. What are your favorite counter service places in each park? Thanks! :)

You're going in Sept? Didn't you get the free dining? Just curious

I'm surprised that more people don't reccommend Starring Rolls at DHS. It is only open for breakfast and lunch. Everyone in my family really liked their food from here. I think that this is the best CS that I have ever had at any of the parks. My turkey sandwich was fantastic and huge. And don't miss their dessert case. Three of us shared one of the Butterfinger Cupcakes. I think that I am craving another one.

Tables are open air and it is located on the back side of the Brown Derby restaurant.

No, because we didn't actually book a package. We had enough rewards points from our Disney Visa to buy tickets for the family (3 of us) and got them last year, not knowing for sure when we planned on going but figuring the prices weren't going to get any cheaper! At that point we weren't even sure we were staying onsite. We were able to get the 30% room-only deal though, so we're able to stay at POR instead of an value resort :thumbsup2 Free dining would have been nice, though I think I'm going to appreciate the opportunity to stay at the nicer resort even if we have to scrimp a bit on the meals! (Maybe we can score free dining on our *next* trip someday!)

MK Columbia Harbor House
AK Flame Tree BBQ
Epcot Seasons
DHS Dont bother--bring a PB&J sandwich (and I dont really like PB)

I'm planning on walking/or taking the boat to the Boardwalk or Yacht & Beach for a CS lunch instead of eating in DHS. Never had a good experience with the CS's in DHS... actually got very sick one time after eating at Backlot Express :confused3 (I'm pretty convinced it was the pre-packaged cheesecake... won't eat that again!)

I have to agree with everyone on Sunshine Seasons - we usually don't make it a plan to go to a particular CS inside a park on our trip, but Sunshine Seasons is one we make an exception for! DTD also has really good CS options.

Start looking before you're hungry... that's always our biggest problem. We end up settling for the usual chicken tenders/hamburger with fries because we wait too long and are starving by the time we decide to stop for food.

MAGIC KINGDOM

Columbia Harbour House - BLT salad
Pecos Bill - chicken wrap, with sauteed mushrooms and onions from the fixin's bar

ANIMAL KINGDOM

Pizzafari - Hot Italian deli sandwich

HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS

My least favorite place for counter service, but I'll occasionally get a salad at Backlot Express

EPCOT

Lotus Blossom Cafe - pot stickers
Boulangerie Patisserie - creme brulee, and ham and cheese croissant
Kringla Bakeri - school bread
Sunshine Seasons - tomato and mozzarella salad

DOWNTOWN DISNEY

Earl of Sandwich - great salads and sandwiches, and very reasonably priced (AAA discount)

The CS's in DHS are limited. We've been to the the ABC Commissary and it was decent for a cheeseburger and fries.. The portions were large enough that DW and I could split the meal, but then I've found that to be true with most of the CS and TS meals at WDW. It's always worth the boat ride to dine at most of the restaurants in the EPCOT resorts complex.

DTD- Earl of Sandwich
AK- Yak & Yeti
DHS- ABC Commissary
EPCOT- La Cantina De San Angel & Yakitori House
MK- Cosmic Rays
El Pirate Y el Pelico (When it's open)
Columbia Harbour House

EPCOT Resorts:
Boardwalk- Belle Vue lounge
Beach Club- Hurricane Hanna's

For us:

MK: Columbia Harbour House
Epcot: Morocco or Japan
AK: Yak & Yeti counter service
DHS: we don't do food in DHS. maybe things have improved, but they lost us years ago.

I just wanted to throw in a vote for Fairfax Fare in DHS. I enjoyed the BBQ there better than that at Cosmic Ray's. The menu is limited, but if it's what you like, the food is good, I've found, and the portions sizable.

MK- Pecos Bill's (love the fixins bar and taco salad) or Columbia Harbor House (tuna sandwich is great)

Epcot- Sunshine seasons (desserts are FAB and HUGE), or somewhere in the world showcase - we always like Tangiere Cafe

DHS- Studio Catering Company- no one's mentioned this yet I'm surprised. Every other CS I hate and this one is alright (nothing awesome)- caesar chicken wrap is good, have some other sandwich kind of stuff like a buffalo chicken sandwich

AK- Flame Tree BBQ but it will be closed when we visit in a few weeks :sad1: so we're trying Yak and Yeti counter service for the first time

MK - Cosmic Rays
Epcot - Sunshine Seasons
Epcot (Countries) - Norway or Morrocco
AK - Flame Tree BBQ
DTD - Wolfgang Puck Express.

DHS - STARRING ROLLS - Why does everyone for get this place - it is worth it for the cupcakes alone

MAGIC KINGDOM - Cosmic Ray's or Columbia Harbour

ANIMAL KINGDOM - Flame Tree BBQ (although I'm mad that they discontinued my favorite key lime pie!)

HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS - Starring Rolls (Huge ham or turkey sandwiches and amazing dessert selections)

EPCOT

Future World - Sunshine Seasons
World Showcase - Tangierine Cafe

Our favorites are:
Magic Kingdom: Cosmic Rays- great chicken!
Animal Kingdom- Flame Tree
Epcot: Sunshine Seasons
Hollywood Studios- Pizza Planet- So nice to take a break from burgers/chicken
