Best Cinnamon Rolls on Property

That doesn't look too bad. Have not had a chance to sample Gaston's yet, but will put it to a test when we make it back.
My comment was meant in jest comparing the size and icing. I will agree the taste wasn't the greatest ever, but the ones we had were good, though purchased first thing in the morning, so it could have made a difference.
Oh well, there is always a turkey leg for breakfast...

I'm kinda sad I never made it to WDW prior to the advent of starbucks. MSB was closed when we were there last year, because starbucks was on it's way in. I did find solace in a Gaston's Tavern Cinnamon bun, however I'm not much of a fan of maple. Sacrilegious to my Canadian heritage, I know.

Not ALL cinnamon rolls are created equal. Case in point:

The old original MSB cinnamon roll, for which I have never had a chance to try:

I did try the original MSB cinnamon roll, and it was the BEST! :thumbsup2 Please bring the original MSB cinnamon roll back to WDW. ::yes::

Aren't all of the buns cooked at a central bakery and brought to the sales locations? You get the same thing no matter where they are sold.

I've also heard that this is true. Almost everything that can be found at multiple locations is made centrally.

This is no where true! Just look at the pictures of the pp's and see the difference. The MSB roll was the best on property and we ate a whole bunch of them over the years. The Gaston roll is very similar, but to me the icing has a different (maple) flavoring whereas the MSB roll was just plain white icing.

Sure hope by popular demand they will return them to the former bakery instead of the sorry excuse of a starbuck's cinnamon bun.

Well, it actually is true. Since there is no longer a super Cinn. Roll, the one you get at Gastons is the Disney Cinn. Roll. Popular demand has already been tried with no success. Good luck!

A Starbucks cinnamon roll:

They may both be called the same thing, but the evidence shows they are far from the same thing. ::yes::

Well that is just a bummer for me :(. I can't stand Starbucks so I am very disappointed that they switched to their type of cinnamon roll. Guess I'll be making a visit to Gaston's to give theirs a try when we make our trip next time! Bummer for you that you never had the chance to try those... they truly were the best!

It is 'not' true!

The warm cinnamon roll at Gastons is 'not' the same as the dry round ones at other places called cinnamon buns (starbucks and Writers Stop and some other places) because we just got one!

I was never a fan of the main street bakery cinnamon rolls. I thought they tasted gross and not at all like a cinnamon roll. Also the ones I had were stale. I went right at park closing so I don't know if that played any kind of role in why i never liked them but I never wanted to get another one. I had two bites and threw it out which was really sad for me. I'm not normally one that would throw out disney food so you know i didn't like it.

As for what is the best cinnamon roll on property I would recommend Gaston's tavern. They do have a bit of a maple-y taste with some cinnamon thrown in. It does has more of a cinnamon roll taste than the main street bakery one does though which was good! It was also freshly made when I went which was a huge plus! I thought they cinnamon roll was only ok though but it was in my opinon the best cinnamon roll on property. I personally am not a fan of disney cinnamon rolls in general though so if it were me I would chose to get a chocolate croissant. Those are really good anywhere on property.

Gaston's are just kept in a warmer - not always made fresh, but always served warm. And they are "as big as your head" :rotfl: Hard to compare an end of the day stale roll to a just made one. I'm guessing a MSB one at the beginning of the day would have tasted great too.

That is not what I said at all...I said that the big gooey ones that everyone craves are not to be found at Gastons. They are better then the ones at Starbucks but are not the original ones that used to be found at MS Bakery! They are not as big and have a different frosting on them.

The only disclaimer that I will put in is that it is possible that they switched back to the old type, but, I have not seen any indication of that.

I think what they'd be more likely to do is start serving at Gaston's with vanilla icing, rather than bring the rolls back to MSB.

I had a cinnamon roll at MSB a few years back ... It was huge, but, it was mid- afternoon and it was stale. Never had another and always wondered what the fuss was about. This summer I went into Gastons for a drink and once I saw a few others walk away with the rolls, I had to try one. Though it was a little light and airy (I love Cinnabon style rolls), it was HUGE. If I had heard about the so called "maple" frosting, I would have passed-- I hate maple! I'm pretty sure it was NOT maple ... Not cream cheese either, just vanilla-y sweet. It was yummy and I can't wait to have another!

I am a cinnamon roll connoisseur...this is one place where Universal has it over Disney (with the Cinnabon right in the park). I wish Disney would just pirate the recipe and serve something like it. I may not be representative of the majority though.

Those pics are depressing. How could that pathetic, perfectly round, with barely a hint of icing thing replace that giant and people think it's a good idea?

those MSB ones were awful. dry, overly sweet, and not appealing at all. good that they've been replaced.

You didn't experience them at the beginning of the day then. Ours were always warm, moist and super yummy! My dh & I always looked forward to starting our MK day with a 'sweet' breakfast to give us a high! ;)
