Which do you consider the *BEST* resort at Christmas? We are going Nov 29-Dec 6 and have Wing Rooms at the CR. I am a HUGE, HUGE, HUGE Christmas and Disney freak. Just wondering if any of the resorts do a spectacular job at Christmas and if it would be worth switching our reservation? I know the GF does, but that's a little out of our price range. Would consider anything else, though.

I'm sorry that I can't help you because this year will be our first Christmas trip... We'll be there from 12/1 - 12/15.

I just wanted to tell you that I love that pic of your kiddos!

Haven't been myself, but have heard the Wilderness Lodge is just beautiful at Christmas.

Thank you for your sweet comment! I love it too!

I loved the BWI and WL. AKL does decorate fairly well but it just wasn't my style of decorations. BWI had a huge carousel made entirely of gingerbread and it worked too. Yumm!

I have been to the Wilderness Lodge at Christmas and would have to say it is the best. It just reminds you of winter with the fireplaces and log cabin feel. They put a huge christmas tree right in the middle of the lobby. I'd say it's close to 50 feet high. This resort is the best for going not only at christmas time, but all winter long. It just gives you a warm feeling, like you get on christmas morning.

I completely agree and could not have said it better. In fact I have a hard time enjoying WL in the heat of the summer for this reason.

This is my favorite deluxe resort and the holiday decorations are beautiful!!! There is a giant (and I mean GIANT) tree in the middle of the lobby and their wreaths have moose antlers in the middle of them! This is a great resort, less expensive than CR, and a wonderful place to stay. Check out my photos below for some great pictures of the resort and the room I had. :jumping1:

Wow! Those pictures are so beautiful! What type room did you have to get that unbelievable view? I would kill for the monorail and Cinderella's castle! That would satisfy both my boys and my DD. Please give me more specifics... I presume that was a Courtyard View. Was it Concierge or regular? North or South Wing?

Thanks again. I will be emailing my DU agent in the am to switch!

The monorail does not stop at the Wilderness Lodge.

The Contemporary was a marvelous location last Christmas, mostly because of the walking path to the Magic Kingdom. My friend and I left MK in the pouring rain (with no umbrellas) after the parade was cancelled on Christmas Day and ended up riding the ferry to TTC and the monorail back around to CR because it was raining too hard to walk down the path, and the monorail line stretched out so far that everyone at the end of the line was getting really wet. I've never been so glad to be staying on the monorail line.

Since you're not going on Christmas Day, go with the WL for the decorations if you don't mind not having the monorail available. WL has pretty handy boat transportation to MK.

I've heard wonderful things about GF and WL at Christmas. Having just been to Disney in Oct. and another trip elsewhere this April, I know that GF is not in our reality. I would love to stay at WL but since we are a family of 5 I think we would need a suite or deluxe room(?)......so, how are the decorations at POR? We've stayed there twice and enjoyed it...the theming and grounds are beautiful. Just curious how Christmas-y it is in December. I think we will make a trip to GF and WL to check out decorations, though. Also, are the decorations inside the Contemporary itself nice at Christmas? Many thanks!!

From the photo album, room 5032 (we had 6034 in Nov 2003!)

That is a woods view, North wing, not concierge.

We have stayed at both the YC and the BC in Dec and they have some nice decorations in the lobby. They pipe music outside and we heard Hark the Harold Angels every time we went outside,it got to be our trip joke :rotfl: I think some of the other deluxes have more decorations. You can always park hop and see them all.

If you can't go to the GF, then I agree with most who say WL. :wave2:

Absolutely beautiful during the Holiday Season!

Thanks to all who replied. I just emailed my DU agent to switch our reservation. Now I get to start all over trying to decide what level/type room! Let the Resort Adventure Games begin!!!

My top 5 Christmas resorts:

1. Wilderness Lodge
2. Grand Floridian
3. Beach Club
4. Animal Kingdom Lodge
5. Port Orleans Riverside

I have only stayed at AKL for Christmas and I absolutley loved it. It had a huge Christmas tree and garland hanging from the balcony's it was really beautiful. I'm going again this Christmas and want to stay at WL but I'm having trouble getting some of the people going with me to upgrade to there. But if you want a really cozy warm place for Christmas I would go with AKL or WL

Good Luck

We were at the world in Dec of 2003. over our 10 day stay, we hit every (even the value) resort in the World because I LOVE Christmas and decoration, so much so our anniv. is the 22nd of Dec.

I can honestly say All resorts have fab-o decor. At least by normal everyday standards. Disney has done an amazing job at picking up on the theme on the resort and translating it into christmas. The only one I personally did not care for was CR. I thought the decorations were sorta plain.
We stayed at CBR one night before transfering to BWV.

My top picks are:
BWV
GF
WL

Honerable mention gos to:
The carosal (sp) at BC/YC
The chocolate village at BWV
Gingerbread House at GF

If you can fit in the time, try to check out the other resorts, it's well worth it!!!

We will actually be at the world the same time as you this year. Nove 24 - Dec 4. Wooo Hoooo

-Kim
