Best Character meals?

And are there any that are for lunch or dinner too?

My kids Love Minnie and Daisy best. But any character meal is fun.


Any suggestions?

We went there in May for lunch. Adult was $12.95, I believe children is $8.95. Adult includes appetizer and entree. Beverage is extra. There were 7 characters there-Ariel, Pluto, Goofy, Donald, Chip, Minnie & Mickey.
We also went to Goofy's kitchen, which you don't need park admission to get into.
There were 5 characters there: Mulan, Baloo, Jasmine, Goofy, Donald. Pluto was at the front taking pictures.
It cost quite a bit more, and the character interaction was minimal.
Avalon Cove is the better deal if you have park tickets, and is the cheapest character meal that I know if.
Also, there were not a lot of people there, so the characters interacted for quite some time.
They also had on special "sailing" outfits.

Just back from DL and first time to Goofy's Kitchen. I cannot say enough about the good time we had. It was 4 adults and my grandson who is 2. He immediately ran to Donald who was posing for pix out front. When we paid and went to our seats they were doing the macarana dance at the food bar with Goofy, Pluto and Mad Hatter. Later Snow White showed up.

While eating, Goofy came over and Pluto when he got to our table, he took SOOO much time with my grandson and got down on the floor with him and played and carried on. It was worth every penny for the memory of that breakfast!

The eats were bountiful too, including every conceivable breakfast food, including made to order omelets, and all the "brunch" foods also, salmon, meats, cut to order roast beef, pizza, p-nut butter pizza, chicken nuggets, cake, ice cream, you name it, it was available...fresh fruit, gummy worm dirt bug dessert...I couldn't believe all the food!

It was a highlight of our trip. It was very busy also. Of course we picked the time to visit when all the world series stuff was happening...but who knew that when we planned the trip 6 months ago! It was fun to be part of the festivities going on. They also have a character dinner at GK also.

Oops, I forgot...we did the Plaza Restaurant as an afterthought for breakfast one morning too, and the Pooh characters were there. Piglet loved my grandson and just kept coming back to him. Tigger carried on more with the adults at our table, but Pooh was great, and Eeyore seemed rushed....but overall it was a nice thing to do also and got some great photos! Food was not as plentiful as Goofy's but still ok and you could get the made to order omelets. They put the things you ask for on your plate as opposed to serving yourself at GK at the buffet.

Now my books said that the Avalon cove was not good for young kids so I didn't consider it. Is this true?

We went to have breakfast with Minnie & friends in March 2000 at Disneyland Pacific Hotel & the character meal looked awesome!!!

Avalon Cove is fine for young children! What book said it wasn't? It's made for young children! Oh, I bet you're books are from when Avalon Cove was a Wolfgang Puck restaurant. It changed to a Disney ran character restaurant about a year ago. Go eat there...you'll love it. Also, consider Storyteller's over at the Grand Californian. We love Rainforest but others disagree. Must be kind of hit and miss. DCA is void of any really good places to eat right now.

my books are dated 2002 but they also say there is early entry so they must not really updated them. The do say Avalon Cove is a Wolfgang Puck restaurant. Well that is good to know. What characters are there and what meals are character meals?

I have a 2.5 year old DS and we frequent DL.

Our favs are: Avalon Cove for dinner - it is very fun! The Plaza Inn for Breakfast is also wonderful.
We do either both or at least one of these whenever we can. I recommend either as being very good.

Avalon Cove just serves Lunch and Dinner. It was closed at 3:00 pm during the week when we were there last week, so it was just lunch M-Thurs, but Lunch and dinner Friday, Sat, and Sun (I think)

It is a order off the menu but one price for all meals type of thing. Lunch includes Appitizer and entree (Drink and dessert is extra) for around 13.00. Dinner is a 3 course meal includes drink for 17.00. Kids get meal and dessert for both meals and a take home sand pail for 10.00.

The menu's I found are a bit outdated, but it will give you an idea of food

Starters:
Cheesy Onion Soup, CHicken Noodle Soup, Boathouse salad

Entrees:
Fish and chips, Burger w/ cheese, Vegetable Lasagna, Surf n Salmon BLT (I've heard this is really good), Chicken and Biscuit Pot Pie (mixed reviews on this one), Ahi Sandwich, Meatloaf (good reviews), BBQ Chicken Sandwich, Lobster Cobbster (no longer offered, some shrimp salad I think has taken the place)

Desserts:
Haagen Dazs Midway Triple Madness, Chocolate Cake, Three for the rocky Road, Peach a tthe Beach Cobbler.

Kids menu:
Octa Dog with Mac and Cheese, Fish Sticks, Spaghetti, Michey nuggest, Minnie's Mini Corn Dogs, goofy's grilled cheese

Desserts for kids:
Ariel's Swirls of Pearls Sundae, Pluto's Dandy Sandy treat, Wigglin Jigglin Flounder

For a character breakfast my favorite is Goofy's Kitchen the worst was Chip & Dale at the Grand Californian (very boring). The character dinner at Avalon Cove was wonderful. I felt the price was the same as any restaurant when you add up; appetizer, entree, dessert and drink. There were plenty of characters and I really loved eating on the outside dock lower level overlooking Paradise Pier.

We love the buffet breakfast at PP with Minnie and friends. We have had Merlin the Wizard, Belle, Max and they sing and dance or put a mini show on while you eat then come take picture with every table. Expensive but worth it. Plaza Inn great also.

My family loves Goofy's Kitchen. We ate there for dinner on my son's birthday in July and again for my daughter's birthday this October. Keep in mind that if you can't get a reservation you can still go to the restaurant and get seated. They only book the restaurant to about 20% reservations, and the rest are walk ins. Do go early though, because it fills up very fast. I always get there about a half hour before they start serving dinner and we get seated as soon as they open. If you are having a birthday party just tell them when you check in and they will have the table done with birthday balloons. They also have goodie bags for the kids for only 5 dollars each filled with a few Disney things. The food there is fantastic. It cost alot, but is definetly worth it!!! Hope this helps!!!
