Can someone tell me about which Character Dining Experiences they would recommend and why? I am going in May 09. How far out do I need reservations?

We love 1900 Park fare. The stepmother and sisters are hilarious and really stay in character . We've enjoyed it both times we've gone & we are going back again this may.

I would make your ADR's as soon as you can. YYou are already less than 90 days out and some things could be booking uo by now. I'm not sure how busy Park Fare is but some of the other character dinners do fill up quickly.

We loved Crystal Palace, good food, All the Pooh Charcter, which are fun. Always try to call at the 90 day before make or sooner, some peak times and better places will fill up fast.. You might get stuck with something you dont want..

Last year with our 5 year olds (2 girls and a boy) we did Princess Norway breakfast, CRT, Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace, and Hollywood and Vine.
Princess Norway breakfast -- loved the food! Plenty of it, adults very happy with that. Great interaction with princeses, got a photo package with Belle included with our meal, princesses did not seem rushed, saw 4 princesses in addition to seeing Belle as we entered.
Cinderella's Royal Table (breakfast) -- great to see/interact with Cinderella downstairs and get autographs/pictures, castle setting was really neat, food was good, somewhat more rushed than the norway breakfast in that they move groups through a bit quicker. Magical ceremony with swords and magic wands for the kids was really cute. Saw pretty much same princesses as in Norway, probably won't do again next trip because it was 2 TS credits and would have been more expensive than Norway if we paid out of pocket, but may do again in 2 years.
Chef Mickey's (breakfast) -- great interaction with the classic Disney characters (Mickey, Pluto, Goofy, Donald, Minnie), food was awesome! Loud, bright environment, ate here for DH's birthday.
Crystal Palace (supper) -- Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, Piglet, loved the character interaction, plenty of time with them, food was good and wide selection, good place to take a break after a day in the MK! Kids got to parade around the restaurant with the characters.
Hollywood & Vine (lunch) -- Leo and June (Little Einsteins), JoJo and Goliath (JoJo's circus). Food was OK, decent selection but not my favorite of the ones we did. Kids liked seeing the LE characters but was only 2 of the 4 characters. Loud and kids get to dance around.

My nurse did 1900 PF and Donald's Safari Breakfast which she also liked.

I would recommend calling as soon as you can to check availability!

I agree with a PP - 1900PF is great! And as far as buffets go, I think it's one of the better ones. Good variety of food, and the characters are great! Also Garden Grill has great character interaction with "comfort food" served up family style. And Akershus also gets a :thumbsup2 from me for the character interaction, although the food is nothing to write home about....

If your looking for the best character experience AND the best buffet food we really enjoyed Crystal Palace.

We also like the characters at Chef Mickey's, however the food was pretty standard I thought. It was good though, just not much different than what you would expect to get.

We will go back to both places in the future though.

Chef Mickey (breakfast) and CP (breakfast, lunch or dinner) Are very good and the character interaction is great. I would make your ADRS now!

Another vote for 1900PF (dinner). We enjoyed all of our character meals, but that one stands out. Call now!

Have a great trip! :thumbsup2

I'm thinking the 1900 park fare but it looks like only Alice and Madhatter and Mary poppins at dinner? I think the stepmom and sisters sounds like fun...

anyone else show up at dinner? thanks.

Trish

We love CM, I know some are down on it, but ome of our best Disney memories were made at CM. CP is great for lunch or dinner, and we loved GG too.

I've never done 1900, but would like to soon

The characters you mentioned are for breakfast. Dinner at 1900 is Cinderella, Prince Charming, the step-sisters and the step-mother. :)

To the original poster, I will assume you are traveling with children. How old, boys/girls?

Crystal Palace is always our favorite for any meal.

We also enjoy Cape May for breakfast. It has the best breakfast around IMO. Scrumptious.:goodvibes

And we also do like 1900 Park Fare although the food at dinner has gone down hill now that the characters are so fun. It's a shame. The breakfast is the standard WDW breakfast buffet...but it's fun & good.

Truly:goodvibes
