Planning to book an April 2015 4 day trip on the Dream as soon as I find out which week is our spring break (should be Monday). I'm planning to book a category 5 veranda (not sure if I want to spend extra for Family Veranda). Any suggestions on deck/forward or aft? Looks like Deck 8 will put me right in the center between the pools and the dining areas. Maybe forward between the forward and mid elevators? Really have no idea. Any comments would be appreciated...

We prefer mid-ship so we usually go for a 5B.
We got a great FL resident rate on The Magic for last weekend.
It was for a 5C aft. The room was fine no issues. The only thing we noticed was that the balcony was a tiny bit smaller than the 5B.

Thanks. The 5B's are on Deck 8, so I assume you liked it? It seems that the Family Verandas are "mid ship", but I assume the ones between the forward and mid elevaors would also be "mid ship"?

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE cabin 9174 on the Dream (Cat 5E) - It is deck 9 staring right out the back of the ship - HUGE veranda. On our first cruise, my DD slept on the veranda one night and says it was the highlight of our cruise!

This April, we'll be in room 6690 on the Fantasy - same general location - extreme aft looking out the back of the ship, but on deck 6. We are hoping we ill like it as well.

We have 9174 booked for our April 2015 cruise on the Dream as well! :woohoo:

Hi! How was the motion in your location? and engine room noise/vibration?

Thanks!

How is the exhaust off the back of the ship? We had a wine and cheese DIS meet on the secret deck 7 aft verandah on the Magic and the exhaust was horrible.

We had room 8028 (5B) and while the room itself was great, we probably would not choose to be that far forward again.

We've had a 5C on deck 7 of the Fantasy and will have a 5B on deck on our upcoming cruise. We try to get one of the aft rooms closest to midship on the starboard side. We had 7652 last year and will be in 8648 this time. I love decks 7 and 8 for the reason you mentioned -- it's easy to get anywhere you want to go using the stairs. We also like being near the aft elevators/stairs, but not too close. It's quick and easy to get up to Cabanas and the pool deck. Personally, I wouldn't pay more to be on deck 9 or 10, but not obviously no everyone feels that way!

Thanks for all the replies. Deck 8 looks good to me.

I may consider a 4B to get the mid-ship location and extra room on deck 8. Only a few hundred more. I had been previously looking at an Alaska 7 night cruise and the Family verandas were a significant premium. Not as much on the Dream. Something to think about.

OH! You will be in my "happy place"!! We were on the Fantasy in room 6690 last week..... LOVED IT!! :thumbsup2

We stayed in 8188, which I think is right below the cabin the other poster mentioned (dead center aft with a huge balcony). We didn't notice any exhaust problems. Our room host sprayed off the deck one day when there was some soot.

Motion and vibration on the other hand - yeah, we felt both. Our first night the weather was a little rough and we were seating pretty well. And pulling into port - I thought the ship was under attack when the thrusters were going.

Even with that, we're booked in 8188 again in s couple months. Can't beat that huge verandah.

Well, I did it! Booked a 4b on the Dream, cabin 8598.

Going to be a long year...

:cool1: Awesome.

You do know by viewing the linked thread/images above you have that skin panel on the forward side of your veranda? Do you know all about that lame subject? Most feel it's moot, but I feel it's prudent to let pax know in advance asap, and let them make their own conclusions. It's all good. In fact due to the location, even at deck 8, you will be able to see between the lifeboats down. :thumbsup2

Skinage/outer panel thread; See pics, then read in reverse. ;)

I'm only sharing everything I know to assist you in making the best cabin selection. This is for information purposes only. Only you can decide cabin locale given all the info. ;)

Thanks! I was wondering what that "skin" thing was all about. I changed it to 8594. No skin!

I changed it to 8594....

Nice. No veranda 10 inch skin obstruction. :upsidedow

But what about the unknown grey area across from 8594? If I'm not mistaken you have the food grinders across the hall. It usually is only an issue between 3:45- 6:00 am from what I've read. Most feel it's still worth it though, being so close to something nearby. It is usually only disturbubing during those early hours. So during the day all is good.
Have you seen this thread related to those spooky noisy grey areas?
www.gotcha.con, haha. Just kidding. lol. :lmao:

I was joking. :rotfl2: No grinders. lol.

Sorry, bad habit. :sad2:

Enjoy and Happy Sailing in a great cabin.

On a more serious note;
Have your read your cabin reports, and for that matter, the ones nearby?
