Best Candy in United Kingdom Shop?!

We were not allowed to have food sent back to our resort from gift shops. We were told they can send any package except food items. All edible items were excluded. That's been my experience multiple times, though maybe there are some CMs who will do it? If there are I haven't encountered them.

As for how to get them back to the room without melting, I'd purchase them right before leaving the park, no sooner.

Yummy, this thread is making me hungry!

I agree that Cadburys chocolate is the best although I can't really compare ours to the US cadbury as when I'm in the US I tend to try all the different things that we can't get here.

I used to love Cadburys Wispa bars but they stopped doing them years ago. My favourite's are Mini Eggs, Twirl, Whole nut, Malteasers, Crunchie, Mint Aero - I could go on.:rotfl:

We need to do a Choc Swap! :goodvibes

Apparently my DH tells me that Wispa's are making another come back in Oct?, don't know how true this is but here's keeping the fingers x'd!!.
I love Mint Aero's, and cadbury's buttons.... And galaxy, I always take a few bars in our suitcase :upsidedow

Oooohhhhh...thanks Karen I hope your hubby is right! That just made me smile! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Love mint areo and maltesers :)

BTW found maltesers and some other UK foods in the ethnic food aisle at Walmart :thumbsup2

Claire ;)

Oh, the memories :cloud9: ! We lived in London for a while about 12 years ago and I LOVED the chocolate. They put the Flake bars in the McDonalds ice cream, but that wasn't my fave. For me, it's the Crunchies or the Violet flavored one, yummmm

What kills me is how cheap they were in England when we lived there - literally just a few pence and to buy them here if you can find them - they're at least a couple of bucks :sad2:

Can't wait to buy some in Epcot - I know they'll be expensive, but probably cheaper than a trip to England :rolleyes1

Thanks so much for replying to my question..I can't believe someone from here on the DIS hasn't come up with a way around this problem yet! :goodvibes

I want to buy several varieties of chocolate bars from the UK, maybe more countries if they have chocolate..but I don't want them to melt!!

And I don't want to have to go back and buy it right before closing just so it won't melt. BUMMER....a shame they won't deliver to your resort.

Gotta get a Crunchie!

YUM! Same here! We live right across the river from Canada and there have been quite a few times that I've had to stop when coming home just so I can get some Crunchie bars--(ok, and really good ketcup potato chips, but that's another story...)--they are so good!

My favorite is the Cadbury bar with hazelnuts. I don't know if they sell that in Epcot however. Buttons are also really good -- they are so thin that they just melt in your mouth. I tried a bite of Turkish Delight once. I agree with the PP who said it's like biting into jelled perfume covered in chocolate. My stomach feels queasy just thinking about it.

A lot of the Cadbury chocolate sold in the US is made by Hershey. I learned the hard way to check the wrapper to see if it was made in the UK or made in the US by Hershey.

Here is a suggestion for the dilemma of getting the chocolate back without it melting. I picked up "Cool to Go" bags here in southern Ontario at a grocery store that claim to keep food hot or cold for up to 3 hours with no ice required. I've tried it with snacks and it worked for this long; they are also washable and reusable. It's a thermal bag that has two halves of a plastic handle that join together on the top so it is easy to carry and sturdy. The vented bottom of the bag allows for a fair capacity of volume. The bag is 12" x 13" and would likely hold 15-20 regular bars, possibly 4-6 of the larger 400-500 gram bars. I would think the only deterrent to packing it full of chocolate bars would be the weight! :teeth: There were two larger sized bags that would hold likely twice and thrice the amount of the smaller bag. Have a look for them in your local grocery store near the deli/prepared foods department or by frozen foods - I got them on clearance and stocked up and now will be bringing one with me on our trip. Good Luck! :upsidedow

That's a good solution, but if you can't find those bags I was thinking to use a big ziploc bag and put a frozen ice pack in it (wrapped in a washcloth to keep it from sweating).

To help with your question Fry's Turkish Delight is a chocolate bar made by Cadbury,it consists of a rose-flavoured Turkish delight surrounded by milk chocolate. Its very very yummy. I ve tasted the turkish delight you normally get from Turkey which is small hardish square pieces covered in powder which i ve never liked at all. Whereas the T.Delight thats inside the choc bar sold in uk is lovely & soft, almost melts in your mouth.

If you get the chance try one, obviously some people dont like them but it would NOT do for us all to like the same things :thumbsup2 !!!

earthelves:

You can still buy Boost bars but only the ones with Biscuit in them, the best ones were the ones that had coconut in them. They were heaven, wish they were still for sale:rolleyes:

OMG YES The Boost Bars With Coconut Were The Absolute BEST:thumbsup2 I Can Just About Taste One Now:lmao: :lmao: Thanks For The Reminder:rotfl: :rotfl:

Thank you so much, great suggestion. I believe I could find something similiar at my grocery store too! :thumbsup2

Wispas are indeed being brought back due to certain network sites having so many people start campaigns to get it back. Cadburys did bring a Wispa bar out a year or so a go & renamed it the Bubbly Bar. It was nt near as nice as a Wispa though & i dont think it sold well. So by the looks of it Cadburys have caved in to the demand & relaunched Wispa. Think Mc D's at the mo is still selling the Wispa Mc Flurry

Does anyone from Uk remember the Secret bar from quite a few years back???:confused3 , it was to die for:worship:

I am typing this with a mint aero in front of me which im about to indulge in:cutie:

Just to add a few more choc bars in to the Mix:

Revels, Minstrels, Poppets & Munchies are all super yummy

When ever there is a conversation about past sweets/chocolate, I always bring up Secret- it was the best.
