Best Boardwalk meal???

Our fav is the Flying Fish, although they have gotten real, real pricey. That doesn' seem to effect their business. Like Yogi Berra said "nobody goes there any more because it's too busy".

We just liked the atmosphere but you have to enjoy chatter and noise.
Just love that heavy cheesecake.

spoodles for us, the only must do that's still on the must do list for 5 trips running

We love the Boardwalk Bakery. Also breakfast at Spoodles or rooms service breakfast. ESPN is also a favorite. We have eaten at Flying Fish a couple of times and it was good but not a favorite.

We don't really care for any of the restaurants at the BWVs. I agree with an earlier post that a simple meal in the room is preferrable. Being from N.J. it is difficult to get a decent pizza in Florida. On our last visit we had slice of pizza, which was small, not very tasty, and overpriced.

There are too many other places to eat at Disney, which are much better. We like the buffet at Bomas. Enjoy!

Last week we ate at Spoodle, Flying Fish and the brewery place (can't think of the name now).

Hands down Flying Fish was the best. WOW!!! Awesome, awewome, awesome. My wife is real picky, fussy and usually dislikes anything I plan just on principle -- and she LOVED Flying Fish. She is still talking about it.

GO TO FLYING FISH. We spent $150 and it was well worth it for a meal that we won't forget.

We will be going back there for sure.

By the way the other two places were also GREAT.

We've eaten at ESPN before. It's pretty standard and nothing special as far as the food goes. We've also eaten at California Grill at Contemporary, which was fantastic but still not as good as FF.

I have to agree with the OP. The opinions on WDW restaurants in general vary tremendously. As an example, OneMoreTry has espoused the wonderful virtues of Flying Fish. We were underwhelmed with our experience at Flying Fish. Impecable service, but only good food (for the price, we expected far better). Our experience is that California Grill is far better than FF. This is sad to me, inasmuch as we own at the Boardwalk and CG is a bit of a hike.

The reality is, no matter what your opinion is on a WDW restaurant, you can find a whole heep of people with a contrary opinion.

As for the original question. On the BW, we love Spoodles. Everything we've eaten there (with the possible exception of the take out pizza) has been outstanding. Overall a good value for an excellent meal. The salmon was fabulous!

Isnt that the truth! We stay away from pizza at Disney!
I cant say we truly enjoy any of the restaurants on the Boardwalk. We had high hopes for Flying Fish but they fell flat after our last meal there.
For a quick bite, go to Beach Club for a burger at Beaches and Cream!

I have eaten at all the restaurants on the BW except the Flying Fish. Mainly because fish is not my favorite meal.

Spoodles is great for breakfast and dinner. ESPN is good for the type of food served, I find it a little loud to sit in there. You can get take out from them though. The Brewery food in my opinion was not good at all. The Bakery has very good pastries.

Try some of the restaurants. All have menus posted outside for each meal served so you have an idea of items and prices.

IMHO:
FF is good but overpriced;
Spoodles is great, especially tapas;
ESPN is also great if you're looking for sportsbar food;

On BCV side:
Cape May is mediocre buffet;
Beaches and Cream does burgers, ice cream, etc. especially well if you can deal with noise and crowds.

Enjoy!

I am not thrilled with any of the BW restaurants (although Spoodles is good) We usually stay at the BWV while visting WDW so we eat a few meals at the BW, but I would not go out of my way to eat there.

Flying Fish all the way. Especially for the potato wrapped snapper.

Personally, I do not find it to be over-priced at all. I consider it to be one of the better dining options on property (right up there with the California Grill).

I totally agree - especially if you have kids, it is a quick and easy place to go.

Unless the price is an objection, I don't know how anyone could not like Flying Fish.
Pretty simple... I cannot stand fish at all... not even the smell of :p

I've eaten at the ESPN club and save the noise level there, I found that to be very good food! Across the way though, I think Beaches and Cream or honestly the pizza at Tubby's (Dolphin) to be the best!!!

The one place I was looknig forward to eating at but was totally disappointed with the food, was Spoodles. I doubt I'll ever go back there again.

flying fish is our favorite WDW dining spot :sunny: No matter which resort we are staying at, we always plan at least one dinner at the flying fish. We feel like family there..we are welcomed back each time and the waitstaff knows what we enjoy and always brings us a few free samples..like a cup of soup or sorbet between courses. the potato wrapped snapper is a personal favorite and DH loves the ahi tuna when it's on the menu. Agree that FF is expensive, but it's worth every $$. It's just the two of us, guess I would think twice about bringing kids here, not much on the regular menu that would appeal to them, but the do have the standard disney kids menu and we've seen lots of happy toddlers and kids enjoying their dinner. the waitstaff is excellent and really goes out of their way to assist with menu and wine selections. There is a NY strip on the menu that is also fantastic..much better than what's served (IMHO) at the yachtsman steakhouse.

No matter who you ask about dining options, you're going to get a variety of opinions..

we do not like the clambake at the beachclub. living in New England, we just can't bring ourselves to eat there...when what we can get at home is so much better.

we also like spoodles. we've tried espn and the brewry..both are "OK" .

For a true value, I recommend the Boardwalk Bakery. For $14 we got two 6" subs, one turkey and one ham, two pieces of fruit and two bags of chips. The cup of ice water was complimentary. Not only was it affordable and a healthy option to the other junk at WDW, the sandwiches tasted good and we were able to make a meal for two days.

It sounds like everyone has a different opinion so here is our take.

EPSN is our favorite. Great food, great price, neat place to eat.

Spoodles - only had take-out pizza once and that was once too many. Never eaten inside.

FF- never eaten there, too pricey and not fish lovers.

Brewery - Eaten there once and DH and friend loved it. I had eaten earlier with kids so I just had a drink. Great service.

Yachtsman's - From Midwest and not impressed. Won't go back.

Gulliver's Grille at the Swan - Best meal we have ever had a WDW. Best Fillet Mignon, great wine, beautifully decorated and good choices for the kids. I think it was a little pricey but we had a $50 GC so it wasn't bad

Every top of the line restaurant in WDW serves fish of some kind. Just because the name is "Flying Fish" doesn't mean it smells like a fish market. Of course if even the mention of fish bothers you, then I see your point. Don't agree, but see it.

(ESPN) especially if you have kids, it is a quick and easy place to go.

I agree. Get one of the tables in the bar area so the kids can get the video game controls and use them right at the table. The time between ordering and eating will fly by.

On BCV side: Cape May is mediocre buffet

I agree again, especially once you get past the clams and mussels. Of course if you like clams and mussels and fill up only on them, then it is great.
