Best Birthday Cake/Desert Options?

My daughter and I will be celebrating my milestone birthday along with our first ever Run Disney 5K in November. We will be staying at Riviera and will also be visiting the parks this trip. I am a huge foodie and love deserts! I am looking for suggestions on cakes and/or amazing deserts in place of a birthday cake. Hoping to get a list and possibly hop around on a birthday cake/snack adventure to replace all those calories we burn off in the 5K

That sounds amazing--happy early birthday! Some great places for cake are Gideon's (nearly all of their gigantic wedge-like slices are good), Gasparilla Island Grill at the Grand Floridian (they tend to have a lot of cute seasonal mini cakes), Homecomin' if you like hummingbird cake, 50s Prime Time Cafe for the chocolate peanut butter cake, and if you have access to it Top of the World Lounge at Bay Lake Tower for the Seven Lair Cake. The cakes at Amorette's are beautiful but tend to have more mousse than cake.

We are DVC but purchased resale. I have had no time to look into Disney lately and am trying to put this trip together as quickly as possible. Would we be able to purchase the cake at Top of the World Lounge?

Unfortunately, no in that case. But another good cake in that vicinity is the chocolate layer cake at Steakhouse 71!

Not a birthday cake, but DH found that a No Way Jose Sundae made a great celebratory dessert (after Dopey, for him).
