What would you suggest as best 1 TS restaurant if you are not planning to be in a park? This could be a resort or DTD restaurant.

I really like Spoodles at the Boardwalk. The food is great and the location is nice. It is cool to woalk the boardwalk either before or after dinner.

Dinner at Ohana's!!

It's been 9 months and my boys and I are STILL talking about the food! YUM!

I have been to Chef Mickey's, O'hana, Kona Cafe, Spoodles, Boma, and the Whispering Canyon Cafe.

Of these, I would probably say that the Kona Cafe had the best food. I would go with O'hana or Whispering Canyon for the best atmosphere. I loved the skillet at WCC but I admit, it can get quite loud in that place. O'hana is changing their menu and I dont know if it is for the better right now.

I'll throw in my 2 cents for Boma or Spoodles. Boma is extremely different, but very popular and can be hard to get ressies. As the pp said, Spoodles is great food and walking the Boardwalk after dinner is now a favorite for my family. We also (as we will this trip in June) have a b-day cake ordered from the Boardwalk Bakery & sent to our dinner at Spoodles. We all agree it was the best cake we ever had!

I was going to say Boma too - food is a little different, but still with a lot of "regular" options for anyone on the pickier side. And the resort is beautiful, so it'll be fun to visit there before/after you eat.

I'm gonna go with Boma or if into characters, Chef Mickey or 1900 Park Fare. Ohana is alot of fun but the menu has changed and it is loud the same goes for WCC. I would read over the menus and pick what you and the family would most enjoy a quiet dinner or atmosphere.

My favorite non park 1TS, in no order:
Boma-AKL
Spoodles-BW
Turf Club-SSR
Shutters-CB*
Captains Grille-YC
Raglan Road

*Not only did I think the food was very good, but I was really impressed with the chef when I dined at Shutters last September. I had an allergy listed in my ADR;s and the waitress was aware of my allergy. At the time they had an appetizer - something fried is all I remember. The chef refused to serve it to me, because he could NOT ensure it was a safe food for me, as the fryer was also used for coconut shrimp. My allergy is to coconut. The chef personally came out to the table to explain and go over the menu with me.

Another vote for Boma. Great buffet AND you get to go to the AKL.

Kona was fantastic for the adults, but the kids meal was lacking. DS had a soup appetizer, so that meant his meal was a hamburger - with nothing else. Just a hamburger on a plate. :scared: His brother opted to skip the soup/salad and get fries instead, so he shared a few with his brother. But, the adult meal was amazing!

We like Kona Cafe alot. For something more 'fun' and alot louder Whispering Canyon is also good- we usually go for lunch and it is alot quieter plus we can explore WL.

We have not really tried any other non park resturants, except ESPN and while fine for bar food it would not rank very high for us.

Boma would be my first choice! Then either Kona or Wolfgang Puck
