Anyone here ever have a "fluoroscopic sniff test" done? I can't imagine what they do with this one! I have to have it done this morning, and I would love to know what to expect. They are trying to see how extensive the paralysis is to my diaphragm.

Good morning all :) I admit I gave up on the DIS early last night.

Gina & Spb, very cool you two could get together for dinner! Gina you are becoming the meet queen!!! :teeth:

Gail, your evening sounds like it was a great one :)

Sandi, I wish I could go see Bill Cosby speak. He is such an amazing guy and of course a great sense of humor.

LTM, good luck getting done all you need to get done. Soon you'll be one your way!!

Good morning John... of course you'd come in and pick on me. If I didn't love you so much...... ;) :p :teeth:

Diane, good luck with the rock stuff... sounds like a pain to deal with!

Good morning Lorraine! Have fun at Kennywood!!! I hope it doesn't rain for you :)

Good morning Carol... here's hoping for sunshine soon!

Lars, thank you for being nice to me and letting me know I am not insane about how slow the boards were yesterday.

Diane, good luck at the doctor's... I have no idea what it is that you are getting done. I hope it isn't too bad.

Well I am off to the doctor's today after work. Some of you might know I deal with neck/back pain quite regularly... well this is getting to be too much so I am having them check out a few things for me and hopefully x-ray the back to see what's up with it. Hopefully they won't find a need to draw blood for anything too since they just did that earlier this year... wish me luck :)

Good luck today, Elaine. Yesterday, the neurologist told me he thought I probably had Fibromyalgia. I have been told that before, so it must be so. I have had neck problems forever, so he thinks that is why. Do you go to PT for your neck and back too?

Diane and Elaine, I hope your tests go well today.

As far as the "sniff" test goes, it will probably be written up as a lab test, which means they get some Labrador Retriever to give you the once over with his nose to see if he finds anything out of the ordinary. ;)

School has started for everyone but my oldest daughter! The county north of us started Aug 4 (they do year round school). My county and the private schools in it started yesterday.

Lela is going to a private school in the county north of us and does not start until next Tuesday. She will be in Kindergarten this year. She has been in K-3 and K-4 programs somewhere else, but this is "full time"

Because of her birthday she is in K5, but will probably be one of the oldest in her class. It's the same way at church; our year starts in October and she will move into the 5 year old class and then turn 6 at the end of the month.

But you have to draw a cut off date somewhere...

Diane, I wouldn't be surprised if you had FM as well then. Apparently there is no good way to tell you 100% for sure if you have it or not  I don't go to PT for anything right now, but who knows what will change. I figured it was time to go back when Luis touched my back (gently) and that hurt :( I also have scoliosis and I haven't had it monitored in years. Really though I cannot tell where the pain originates so I think I need them to check out my spine again to make sure something bad hasn't happened since my last x-ray. I'm about ready to try anything as long as this gets fixed.

Wow Alan, school starts early down there!!! Around here school doesn't start until around the 20th or so and some just after Labor Day! And a friend of mine was like Lela... October birthday too! As time went on she really got to liking that she was really that much older than the rest. Good luck to them in school :)

Gina, be sure and share a pic of Matt's big day. How cool that he is in the wedding. Mine never did their own haircuts, at least not yet. ;)

Lorraine, have fun at Kennywood. I've never been there. Hope the weather is fabulous for you.

Lars, painting is in my future, too. Our walls need a paint job in the worst way. We decided to put off redoing the floors until after we paint. That way we won't have to worry as much about drips. I'm discovering that remodeling moves slow at our house.

Diane, fill us in on the "sniff test". I agree that it sounds like a dog is involved.

Carol, David is in AP U.S. History and AP 2nd year English this year. He did AP World History and 1st year English last year, so I guess he has a pretty good idea of what he's getting into. The only advanced class that Amy's school offers to 7th graders is Math. It's her least favorite class. I'm not sure why, she does well, but just hates it. So needless to say, she avoids that one like the plague.

I got David to band camp this morning. The weather is humid but pretty cool for Oklahoma in August. Just hope it doesn't rain on them every day. Cross your fingers that his car is ready this afternoon. That way he can drive himself the rest of the week and I can get my car fixed.

School begins for my brood on August 21st. I've never understood why they have them start so late in the week.

I took David to the orthodontist in June so they could confirm that he needed his wisdom teeth removed. (Our dentist felt certain that he'd need them out and suggested that summer would be the perfect time - if the orthodontist agreed.) The orthodontist didn't agree after doing X-rays. She said there was plenty of room and not to worry about it. I took her word for it. Yesterday, David went back to the dentist for his 6 month checkup and they looked at the X-rays from June. They say there is no way that there is enough room and that I need to get him into an oral surgeon as soon as possible. And of course, summer is over for him - no time to get them out before school starts. I'm mad! I want to get them out. I agree that the picture looks like there isn't room and I don't want to push his teeth out of line. I just can't believe that the orthodonist told me something completely different from our dentist. Now he'll either have to miss class or ruin one of his school vacations. Sigh. Thanks for letting me rant about it.

Melissa, Sarah's dentist also did her orthodontia. At her last appt in July, he recommended that she see an oral surgeon to have her wisdom teeth "evaluated." We have not even made an appt yet. She says they don't bother her. I guess we will have to go eventually.

Gina, I want to be on the list of people that have had meets with you soon.

Diane and Elaine, hope you guys both get straightened out soon.

Lars, my you are ambitious.

What is this doing on page 2?

Is everyone enjoying this hot, summer day?

Just back from seeing Pirates - cool movie

also I posted just a few Riddle Con pictures on the Dis Meet board:D

Hi All!!
Diane-I hope that everything went well with the sniff test.........and I can't wait to find out what a sniff test is!!

Elaine-I'm sorry to hear that you've been having more trouble with your back/neck lately. Back pain can be so debilitating. I hope that the x-rays show something that will be helpful for you.

The bedroom now has 2 coats of 'raffia cream' paint on the walls. I'm taking a quick break before finishing up & tidying up. When DH called earlier I told him that he was taking me out to dinner....I am not cooking tonight!LOL!

DH had a lot of problems when his wisdom teeth were removed but his were impacted. My wisdom teeth are in still....I had 4 teeth pulled when I was 12 because my teeth were too big & my mouth was too small yeah I know, hard to believe anyone ever called my mouth small:p So I had room for mine to come ion. I had to have one of them taken out a few years ago & it really wasn't a big deal at all. I hope that it'll be easy for both David and Sarah when the time comes.

Boy, I've got LOTS of reading to do on this thread! (I'll catch up later....:D !) Just poppin' in to say "HELLO!"

Hiya All,

Gosh the last time I posted was yesterday afternoon (morning to you) and haven't you all just been a chatty lot since?!

Valerie - I bet you are getting really excited now!! Will you be meeting many Angels?

Alan - WELCOME BACK!!! Missed you!! The 'emporium' closed down without the 'brains' of the operation... aka I failed to get many pants or even 'woohoos' (the new, clipart free alternative to pants) on the riddles recently!

There will be a special mention of you in one of my upcoming trip reports so keep an eye out for that Mr Alabama!!

LK and SB - Sorry to hear about the ppl losing their jobs, I know this can make for low morale/bad working atmosphere. I am very thankful that we were given *lots* of notice before our redundancy and plenty of retraining help etc to give us a headstart in looking for new work.

Diane - I had to really LOL @ your rock story! I can't believe they just up and buried them!!! This reminds me of my cousin who sold DBF and I this house... he is not known amongst the family for being particularly bright... last summer when DBF, my mum, dad and me made a start on our back garden we found not only the washing poles but also a large, broken and rusty metal trailer *buried* in the garden!!!! He had just stuck them under there instead of getting rid of them! We left the poles but DBF and a friend spent 3 hours digging the trailer out and it has sat to the side of our drive ever since! It is finally going this weekend as we have hired a skip!! Good luck sorting your new rocks out and good luck with all your doctors tests.

Gina - You are having so many meets! Sounds like a lot of fun! I'll come meet you too.... but can you sub me the air fare? ;)

Elaine - Good Luck for the Doctors also, hope they can work a better solution out for you.

Melissa (my nametwin :)) - You've reminded me about going to see my dentist re wisdom teeth - I want them out! Long story short I'm in agony every couple months with them... they almost ruined our WDW trip for me!

Today I am feeling almost myself again which is nice. I sorted out my 'Auntie' package for Brandon... then promptly did not send it as found out it was going to cost about $45 to post - yikes!! I can't really afford that, but if I take a few things out or split it between two the cost will come down dramatically as it will come under a 'small package' discount. Considering the things in there only came to like $10/12 I don't really want to pay four times that to send it - hope this is okay! I will get the things to him one way or the other!!!!

Sadly Jon has caught at least 'part' of the bug I had so he went the doctors this morning and we are hopeful we can kill it off quicker but he may end up in bed for a week as I did :(

I went round a house with my parents tonight since Jon was too ill to come. Sadly it was, IMHO, overpriced for the size of it and the amount of work it would need doing... the hunt goes on!

Also looking into holidays for next year... all kinds of things on the table currently from just staying in the UK to going to Canada or even Italy! I'll have to narrow it down a bit :)

I also looked in to flying to PA for a weekend, so we could join in RiddleCon 2 if that is where it was! Basically when you are planning it, no matter where you go, could it be vaguely near an airport and perhaps... maybe, perhaps, in either April or September rather than a peak time like August? I need to be able to do it cheaply to convince Jon!!!

Finally, all you cat owners, wanted to ask if you notice your cats 'singing' more in the summer. Mips is constantly chirping away instead of miaowing. Often she sits and 'sings' at the top of the stairs for no particular reason!! LOL she is a funny little Mip!

Hurrah! The End!

Cya,
Gaspode

Okay, guys.....I'll give you the chuckle of the day.

We had our contractor over today. We're doing major work outdoors. This guy is a doll. Nice, cleancut, well mannered....but I make fun of him.

So what else is new?? :smooth:

He shows up in a t-shirt (clean/company logo on it), shorts, white socks and construction boots. I put my construction boots on with my shorts right before he gets here and ask for my own construction t-shirt when he gets here. The man almost fell off the chair laughing.

Then we go to measure windows. DH is hanging out at the computer. He's letting me prattle away.....we go upstairs for a few minutes and I start yelling that I got a new man in the bedroom.

No comment downstairs.

Contractor is in hysterics. I think he likes it.....sort of.

Poor guy. Nice spot to put him in, doncha think??? :teeth:

Come downstairs. Sit down to discuss options. I'm sweet, demure and quiet. NOT!!! I continue to bust him. :p

He scratches his head, thinks for a second and then takes $850 off the price of the windows. :teeth:

DH laughs and tells him to take me upstairs anytime he wants..... :smooth:

Think I can get the roof for free????? ;)

LOL, Alan!! R-e-a-d-i-n-g y-o-u-r- mind!:p

That is a hoot, Gina! Kind of like when things aren't getting done at the new place, DH has ME call the contractor, because it is more likely to get done after that!

LOL! I'm inviting you over next time I need work done around my house. :teeth:

Gina - Lew said he thought he saw another side to you...then he started muttering something about legal briefs.......
