Bernies Angels, our new summer home

We've had power outtages from winter storms and hurricanes here and many people do have generators. Although we don't it certainly is a good idea.

So...why did Steph have only 3 hours of sleep....and had Marsha been to bed yet since if her body was on AZ time it would be 4:30 a.m.?????

I only had 4 hours sleep because the night before was e-ride night until 1:00 am, we didn't get back and settled until almost 2, and the alarm rang at 5:45am....we had to pack and check out....meet Marsha....and then get to restarauntasaurus (sp) for 8......

I'm still not caught up.....but heading to bed now!

Night Angels

Well, it's almost 9 pm and my sister is still in her office. She's going to walk over to Port Authority and try to get a bus or ferry to nowhere. We'll get her home from there.

Nice picture, Steph and Marsha!

Both of them!

Looks like power is slowly returning to Manhattan. Hope she gets home safely and soon Gina....and she takes tomorrow off!

Gina, I hope your sister makes it home safely. How awful to be stuck like that.

I know in Ohio, power is being restored as well. The county just 15-20 minutes north of me has power restored and the one above that is really close. Cleveland airport is open now too. Sorry about all I hear is Ohio, but the power outage was much closer to home than I realized!

I hope our returning Disney travelers get some sleep :)

Great pictures, Steph and Marsha.

Gina, I hope your sister gets home safely. I wonder how LTM is doing. She lives on Long Island and is getting ready to leave soon.

The picnic was a great success. About 25 kids and the band director and his new wife. Both recent college graduates. Just kids themselves, at least compared to DH and me. (They got married on Riddlecon.) We had plenty of food. (I always worry about that with pot luck.) Lots of music. Volleyball and basketball. I think they all had a good time. And it was good for the band morale and the new director to just socialize with the kids.

I think I will sleep well tonight.

Evening Angels!

Carol - sounds like your party was a success! How was the cleaning up though?!

Steph and Marsha - what great pics of you both! I'm glad to finally see what you look like. Hopefully Marsha, we will be connecting soon.

Gina - what a scary thing for your sister. I have been watching CNN about it. It seems like everyone was calm - I'm sure 9/11 was in the back of everyone's mind.

Valerie - hoping everything is fine for you too.

Gail - did your family take you out to dinner? make you a cake?

Update on Shawn from my and LK's work - we are fearing the worst happened today. He wasn't supposed to make it past Tuesday, but his body is showing amazing strength fighting until the end against the cancer. The family decided to take him off all the drugs so he could wake and spend some final moments w/ his family. He was talking to people from our office yesterday. Today though, it was reported that the fluid was building up in his throat. It doesn't look good.:( Prayers to you Shawn that everything is peaceful.

Hello Angels!
Today has been a busy day here!!! Crazy day too!! It began with freshman registration at the high school.......cha-ching! Getting the twins signed up was EXPENSIVE! Then we stopped for a quick lunch before having to go back to the high school to drop Matt off at marching band practice from 1-5. Band Camp starts on Monday so they are practicing again tomorrow from 10-4 so they'll be ready. It was so hot today that 2 kids passed out during practice....DS said they were marching alonmg and all of a sudden he heard 'thud' and a kid had just dropped to the ground. Then almost everyone I know lost power & still has none. The sub I live in, a few surrounding subs and the downtown area have power....all outlying areas are out. My friends all have no power which means no water too. They have been filling bottles & coolers here to at least be able to flush their toilets. They will have to come back tomorrow to bathe probably. Our freshman orientation and picnic was scheduled for tonight & it had to be cancelled. Thank goodness we have power & are able to function normally. They are saying it might be Monday before everyone is up.

Great pics of Steph & Marsha!!!
I'll catch up more tomorrow!!!

Good morning Angels! TGIF!

Great pictures of Steph & Marsha (I liked em both Steph:p )!

I hope everyone is back to normal soon from the pwer outage.

Carol did you give the newlyweds any pointers on washing clothes? :o :p ;)

Anyone want to ride with the yepod clan to the mini-meet in Chicago tomorrow?!

Good morning!

Hope folks affected by the power outage are well and service has been restored.

How did your sister make out Gina?

John, we'd be happy to ride with you to Chicago....just swing by RI on your way!

Good Morning, All!

Well, Lisa finally made it across the river around 10:30pm and was waiting at the Meadowlands (how she got there, I don't know) for a friend to pick her up.

In the interim, another friend called here offering to pick her up and use of his apartment in West New York....again, if she could get across the river. My BIL and SIL live in Manhattan.....they were stranded at another BIL's home. But at least they had power and someplace to sleep.

I haven't spoken to her this morning, yet. I am sure she's still asleep. I haven't even checked....are we still in a state of emergency??? Anybody know???

I'm tired.

I remember the blackout in the sixties....vividly. I remember describing it to someone....and them commenting on my understanding of the situation.....people trapped in elevators, etc. etc. I never thought we'd see a series of big cities go down again......

We had a major blackout at the shore this year.....around Seaside for over 48 hours during the 4th of July weekend. And we've been flickering on and off for days now....very uncommon.

Another strange year......

Good morning all :) Another busy one here and with my dad coming over for dinner and a small trip to KY tomorrow I am not sure I'll be around much.

Glad to hear the picnic went well Carol!

Lorraine, thanks for the update on Shawn... how very sad :( My prayer are with him and all who love him.

What a day for you Lars!!!! Glad to hear that you have power! I was thinking about you last night when I was looking at the maps of who was w/o power. I hope everyone gets them soon!

John, normally I'd join you for a trip to Chicago, but I already had plans for KY.

Good morning Gail :)

Gina, glad to hear that your sister made it out. Good luck to all you w/o the power.

Off to work.

Glad some of you are getting power back.

I can identify with the loss of water, Lars. WE have the same situation here if the power is out, and with all these dogs, I usually have to find a place to fill old fashioned milk cans with water for them. All the more reason to have a back-up generator installed in the new place.

Gina, I can NOT imagine what it would be like to be stranded in NYC in an outage!

I suspect OK is or was without power too. They did mention Syracuse on our news.

I felt a bit better yesterday, but today is a real big back slide!:( I think that is common for Fibromyalgia though. I am NOT sleeping at all! Very frustrating.

Morning Angels and John!

John - hmmmmmmmmmm....Chicago or WDW? What should I do?;)

Lars - glad to hear you have power. I was just watching all the morning shows, and it is unbelievable that it affected so many.

Gina - good news about your sister. thank goodness it didn't happen in winter.

Hi E and Gail!

Lots of packing and running around for me today. Hope I can get it all done.

Happy packing, Lorraine. I am trying to finish the laundry so I can do that too.

I went back to read everything.....finally....

Glad to see your picnic went so well, Carol. It certainly was nice of you to do something like this. I'm sure the kids appreciated it....and the band teacher and his wife also! What a nice welcome!

Lars....glad to know you were okay. To me, it is so inconceivable that this was so widespread. It truly is a small world in so many ways, isn't it?

Hope power is restored quickly to those without and hope everyone has a good and if possible, wonderful day!

Morning all! I hope the power is restored soon for everyone.

Lots of running around here, too, today. The kids need haircuts before school starts. When we get back from WDW, they will only have three "free" days before school starts. I finally told them last night about the trip. Even with all of the slip ups of people telling them they are going to WDW, they didn't really believe it. They are excited to be going back! Logan, however, is not thrilled about the long car trip. I bought some new DVD's for them to watch on the way down.

Great picture of Marsha and Stephanie! I am hoping we can squeeze in a quick visit with Marsha and Valerie while we are there.

Off to check the weather. Oh, Lew dear.... need an update!!!

Forgot to add:

Carol, that was a wonderful idea to have a get together for the band members at your house. I'm glad it turned out so well! Thanks for the pictures from Riddlecon, too!

Just found out that our co-worker Shawn passed away last night. Thanks to all of you for your kind words and prayers. He was a great guy. Always very kind and always with a smile on his face. Heaven is getting a good one!
