Dh has a virus that in his lymph nodes. He's really not feeling well.
I was supposed to go to Dallas this weekend with girlfriends.

Blah.

It's 5:00 somewhere, right?

Have you had any flooding down there? Lots of people here woke up yesterday and today to find that their basements had become swimming pools!
Decided the responsible thing was to drink plain cocoa this morning, tonight may be a different story ;)

Some flooding, mainly roads and ponds going over their banks....Lot of trees have been coming down after all the rain and the wind. Thankfully no damage at our house :goodvibes Just blechy

We're fine here, Heather. :goodvibes The main slide is on I-40 on the NC side if you're going between Asheville and Knoxville. Totally blocked for 3 months but doesn't affect us, whew! I saw on tv yesterday the slide in Chattanooga, which is 4 hours away. I'll PM you where we live so you don't have to get out a slide rule and map! :rotfl: (no pun intended with the "slide" rule but :rotfl2:)

Glad you're ok. Guess you won't be visiting Biltmore anytime soon. Gotta love that the detour had a rock slide as well :rolleyes1

If anyone is interested, my mini-trip report for the HHI birthday bash is up on my blog along with all the pictures from the weekend.

Hope everyone stays warm and dry tonight :goodvibes

Just got home from our beer / food pairing ... it was a tasty boozy good time and we won a prize! Actually we won two but I didn't feel right taking two of five door prizes so I gave one to the people sitting at the table next to us.

Five food courses and seven beers and we witnessed a robbery suspect fleeing the premises on our way in. Actually I almost ran the dude down with my CRV (and that was before I had anything to drink!). :rotfl2:

Such an eventful evening! Excellent food and booze!!! :thumbsup2

Gosh Bendy - you don't need to seek out excitement as it seems to find you. Am trying to squeeze in readings of your TR between scrambling to get more last minute lectures done for this weekend because it always makes me laugh.

Sleeping in is relative I think, because my internal clock is happiest (at least while on the West Coast) when I sleep from 3:30 am to 11: 30 am - so a normal 8 hours. Just not what's normal for the rest of the time zone and that's where it becomes a problem. When I have to get up earlier - I sometimes just give in and take a sleeping pill because no matter how tired I am - I simply can't sleep until 3:30 am. I'm much better on the East Coast or Europe - very odd.

So, for anyone onterested, I managed to get the recipe for the Blood Orange Margarita

Blood Orange Margarita
La Cava de Tequila, De San Angel Inn

Serving: 1
1/8 Cup Triple Sec Arrow
3/4 Cup Puree Orange Blood
1/8 Cup Tequila El Mayor Blanco
1/2 Fresh lime
3/8 Cup Hibiscus Syrup
1 Small container of Hibiscus Salt

Combine the Blood Orange puree, Triple Sec Arrow, Tequila Blanco or Silver, Hibiscus Syrup, and lime. Add ice and shake or mix well.
Spread a small amount of the hibiscus salt on a small plate. Moisten the outer rim of the serving glass. Then dip the rim into the salt to lightly coat.

Well thank goodness I have all of that on hand.;)
I really wish I did. Really.

Oh that is just so.....wrong! :rotfl2:
So says this Jewish girl with the Disney character menorah. :rolleyes1
Yes, Goofy, being the tallest, is the shamash candle in the center. :rotfl2:

And boy, Briarmom and I are mistaken for each other now? LOL! Must be the "Briar" thing. ;)

I'm not packed yet, by the way. I better do that tonight. I printed out my boarding pass, though. Why did I buy the 6:20am flight?? :headache:
Wow, I would love a Disney menorah. Where exactly does one find one of these? I have never seen one so would love to know where you got yours :goodvibes

Happy Birthday and hope you are having a great time in Vegas!

Glad everything is okay there :)

We are having some crazy weather here too -- a nor'easter is going to hit tonight/tomorrow so looks like rain for tomorrow and Sat. Good times:rolleyes1

My friends and I were supposed to go for a girls shopping/eating/drinking weekend to Lancaster, PA this weekend but our friend from Ohio who was going to meet us there has the flu. So we're going to postpone our trip till spring and my other friends and I are still going to have our shopping/eating/drinking weekend here in NJ -- with the nor'easter. Hey at least it's an excuse to stay in and drink:thumbsup2

Thanks for posting this! I might just have to try and make it this weekend!

Nope, we take I-26 to get to Asheville, so we're in a good spot! When we were at Dollywood over the weekend we met some people in line from Hendersonville (just south of Asheville), who said it took them 3 1/2 hours to get from their home to Gatlinburg :headache:. All the I-40 W traffic is being re-routed north on I-26 through here.

I can't wait to read about the birthday party when I have a chance later today!

Briarmom, I hope your husband gets to feeling better!

Is anyone else planning to see the movie 2012 now that it's been released?

I love cheesy disaster movies, especially the ones that don't realize they're cheesy. This one looks like it fits the bill perfectly! :rotfl2:

Chelle, I read the trip report.....it sounds like you guys had a wonderful time!

The trailer for it just sucks you in, doesn't it?!? And I dearly love John Cusack....but since I used up all my babysitting chips for the next 5 years on the cruise, I think I will have to wait for it to come to DVD.

Jamie, did you get my response to your PM? The darn boards went down on me when I tried to send it, so I couldn't tell if it went through or not.

Attention Bendy!!!

What foods have you ordered from Williams Sonoma and what do you recommend? I want to get some stuff this holiday season.

Thanks!!

Nope, I don't do disaster movies, I'm too much of a worrier. I'm just waiting to see Good Hair to see what I'm doing to my head with that relaxer twice a year. :rolleyes1 The trailer shows how relaxer can disintegrate a Coke can. :scared1:

Heather, I didn't get a reply, so I guess it didn't go through!

OOOh good question!!! We are hosting thanksgiving this year..and some W&S foodstuffs would be a great DELICIOUS help!

Well, since my girls trip was cancelled, I'll be watching 'Up; with the kiddos tonight and then we're going to play Disney Scene It. It's a party up in here.;)

Add in some laundry, and substitute either Jenga or Zingo for Scene It, and it sounds much like the party that will be going on at my house tonight!:lmao:

Well, I actually ordered more from Dean & Deluca but I do recall that the mini croissants from Sonoma were really tasty and so were their arancini. We also ordered an Italian cheese sampler from them that was very good ... included some robiola which is one of those runny, mild cheeses that can be smeared on bread. :worship:

Dean and Deluca info would be appreciated as well.;)

We just finished 'Up'. Started watching out here in the living room since dh is so sick and was in the theater (there are reclining seats). 30 min in, the DVD stopped working! We kicked dh out of the theater (he is fine with it) and watched the rest on Blu Ray in there.

WOW. It may be my favorite Pixar film.

Wow. Lots of :sad1: and:rotfl:

Dean and Deluca is our favorite! :cloud9:

We ordered their turkey roulade last year for Thanksgiving and it was fabulous. We've also ordered their crab eggs benedict, babkas (yummy breakfast breads), malvarosa cheese, chocolate cigars, and specialty coffees.

On an unrelated note ... I posted a review of our breakfast at Kouzzina if you're interested!

I will look at their site tout de suite. :thumbsup2

Off to read your review!

Watching Kill Bill in the theater. Kids and dh are abed. Nice.:cloud9:

We're going to have sushi for lunch at a place out here (yes, in outer Stinktown) and then we're going to see 2012! Raw fishies and cheesy disaster movies! Life is good! :lmao:

We are nearing the end of the line on this thread ... do you guys want me to start a third one? Seems like the traffic has slowed since everyone has returned from their Fall trips, but I'd still like to keep in touch with the friendies here if they so choose.

Let me know what you want to do. :goodvibes
