OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH........

Was the fire dept. called? :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

I booked $60 worth of discounted seminars this morning .. .. we've never done that many seminar before because we never wanted to wait in line for a place.

We never got an email from DVC but thanks to Jeanne sharing the registration link I got through at work this morning with no trouble at all and got everything I wanted.

culinary demos:

Raglan Road (10/15)
The Wave (10/19)
Grand Floridian Pastry demo (10/20)

boozy seminars:

Moet & Chandon (10/17)
Remy Martin Cognac (10/20)
Chopin Voda (10/23)

Of course I offered to include Guest X & Y ... I bet you can guess what their response was.

I bathe daily ... I brush my teeth ... I'm not totally surly all the time ... I feel like they don't want to spend any time with us at all. And supposedly X likes to cook ... why wouldn't they want to see at least one demo? :confused3

Meh. I'm just going to have a drink and dream about October. :lmao:

Maybe it's better this way. Just enjoy the demo with your hubby! :goodvibes
Consider the possibility that X and Y might want to loudly chat occasionally while the demonstration is going on. :rolleyes1:scared1:

Good morning! Thanks so much for the wonderful comments..you guys are too sweet  ...Hope everyone has a good "HUMP" day...Wednesday are traditionally annoying around here..so we shall see ;)

OH by the way I never got a chance to tell you about some of the cool kitchen-y things I got at the shower..I did receive a bunch of generous and wonderful gifts, but some the foodie ones i am MOST excited about trying are:
The juicer (mmmm fresh juice!)
The meat grinder attachment for my kitchenaid!! Anyone have one of those already??..very curious about it!
I also got a few fun tools like a pitter, avacado slicer, corn grater...stuff i KNOW you don't need..but looks fun to use ;)

Ohhh I love kitchen gadgets... now if I could only cook more... ;)

You could tell them that the new McDonalds is open over by the All Stars and maybe they'd like to make a visit over there???

I'm very excited ... lots of new stuff in small doses! And I'm looking forward to that lapu lapu ... although I think I'll need two so that I can make a spiky madonna-type bra out of the pineapples once I'm done drinking. :lmao:

Pictures... I want pictures!!!

As long as it comes with a dance! :thumbsup2

If she gets sloshed enough... :lmao:

Ouch indeed. The lesson here is never broil your pastry ... no matter how good an idea it may seem at the time (and I was sober when that happened ... :lmao:).

Was Jay?

Then you could be either a Bradonna or a Bre-adonna. :lmao::rotfl::lmao:

Bradonna ... ... that's funny. Or maybe Bra-endy? :lmao:

Bendy you will have more AKA's than a felon... :rotfl2:

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH........

Was the fire dept. called? :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

I caught it just in time. But I feel very bad about wasting an entire round of brie. :sad2:

Maybe it's better this way. Just enjoy the demo with your hubby! :goodvibes

We will enjoy ourselves, but I just feel like I'm doing something wrong. :confused3

I want to steal Catherine's idea and don a pith helmet while poking my head through palmhenge to explore. :rotfl2:

Also ... we've decided that we're dumping X&Y on their arrival day lunch. We're supposed to go to Sci Fi with them but Jay and I think we're not going to have enough time to go, get back to the hotel, clean up nice and pretty, and then get over to V&A for a 5:15 reservation with some friendies. So we're going to give them the option of going alone or canceling. Our first meal of the trip with them will be the following morning at Kona.

I think they'll be happier that way and even if they aren't ... PFFFFFT!!! This is what will work best for us. It takes me more than an hour to get ready for dinner at V&A ... I actually have to try to look good and that requires serious effort and make-up. :lmao:

Your plan sounds great! You're not doing anything wrong. It's them. (Do you listen to country music by chance? Just a tip I learned from Billy Currington, God is great, beer is good, and people ARE crazy. :rotfl::rotfl:)
A wonderful part of being on vacation is not rushing, just relaxing, going at your own pace. I'm sure you'll be absolutely beautiful at V&A. What a fantastic night of visiting with friends and enjoying delicious food that will be! :thumbsup2

a wee bit of weekend food porn ...

The steak looks yummy and I'm totally intrigued by the booze. I'm gonna be looking for this on my next liquor store run.

OMG...did you need a jackhammer to get those burnt hockey pucks out of the pan or what? Those poor little tarts...they looked so promising until they met with the broiler of doom. :sad1:

I didn't book any demos. There weren't really any on my days that appealed to me that much, and my trip is so short and I only have a day and a half at Epcot. If I had a longer trip, or someone I really wanted to see was there, like Todd English, I would've booked one.

My plan right now is Epcot on my arrival day, with snacks at the F&W booths, then a TS dinner. On my full Epcot day, I plan to be there at rope drop, and do the booths for lunch, maybe a couple CS snacks as well. I don't want to eat too much though, since that's my PFTS day.

Chelle, the Mexican looks muy delicioso!

Brenda...those poor tarts. I'm guessing they were even beyond scraping out a little cheese to give to the cat.

I'm betting X&Y won't even blink about the Sci-Fi lunch, unfortunately. :sad2:

Be sure to save your lapu bra to wear to V & A! :rotfl2:

Allright, so I promised some home made food porn the other day :rolleyes1

Plate of Camorones Mexicanos (Shrimp Mexican style) with cheesey yellow rice, onions, green peppers & tomatoes from my garden and avocado slices (not from my garden). Glass of sangria & taco shells

Yes, you do need to do what is best for you!! It's so nice when you can take your time to get ready for a special event like V&A!! Pour a glass of wine and enjoy getting ready.

AND, you look wonderful. I can't believe it take serious effort for you to look as good as you do pretty lady. :)

Chelle - your meal looks wonderful! Also looks like you enjoyed the sangria. ;)

Brenda - The steaks look good, but your poor little tartlets. And the brie! so sad! Interesting bottle for your new booze.

It only works if you say "verrrrrry interrrrresting" when you poke your head through.

Time for the Final Accounting of the Festival Demos:

Sept 25 Barcelona Tapas & Wine
Sept 25 Caymus Vineyards
Oct 3 Suvir Saran
Oct 16 Todd English
Oct 17 Greg Richie
Oct 19 La Crema Winery
Oct 30 Andrew Zimmern

November 1 is going to be World Showcase Domination day since I don't have anything else scheduled. I plan to start with the Axis powers and then move to the Allies and save the neutrals for last.

It was brought to my attention yesterday that there's only a month left before some of us can start running through the streets of WS and shouting "FESTIVAL" like that Star Trek episode.

oh, and you do know you can get the Lapu Lapu without the pineapple for a much-reduced price (it's about $14 with the pineapple and $8 without)

My precious raspberry-brie tarts before they met their death ...

DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS AT HOME!!!! :rotfl2:

P8230008.jpg

Those poor raspberries :sad2: Everything else looked great! The drink sounds interesting. I'm one that doesn't love ginger so that sample bottle is a good idea :thumbsup2

Chelle- that Shrimp looks absolutely delicious. Do you have a recipe for it, you'd be willing to share? :goodvibes

Sort of a recipe, but mostly on my own.

Yellow saffron rice, follow directions. Before serving I threw a couple handfuls of mexican style shredded cheese on it and stirred it in to melt.

For the shrimp, I peeled them even though the restaurant I get this dish at leaves the shell on. I don't like peeling my food while I'm eating it. Just me

1lb shrimp, thawed (peeled if you're like me)
1 onion chopped roughly
2-3 cloves garlic, chopped
1 green pepper, large chop
1 avocado, sliced
1 large or 2 small tomatoes, sliced
1/2 can of enchilada sauce
olive for pan
salt & pepper to taste

Saute onion, garlic & green pepper in oil until cooked. Add shrimp, cook for about 5 minutes. Add tomatoes, enchilada sauce, cook till heated through. Add avocado slices before serving.

Serve over cheesy rice.

As I said, not really a recipe. Make sure your shrimp is cooked, but not over cooked. The rice takes about 25-30 minutes, the rest is about 10 minutes.

I caught it just in time. But I feel very bad about wasting an entire round of brie. :sad2:

1. I don't think you're doing anything wrong, and I'd be thrilled to step in as a new niece :goodvibes
2. I'd love to see you do that at "palmhenge" :lmao:
3. Bummer to miss the boozy milkshakes, but I don't blame you for wanting more time to relax and get ready for dinner.
4. I do not believe that you need that much time or work! But, the relaxation before such a nice meal out is a good thing :thumbsup2

Chelle, the Mexican looks muy delicioso!
Thanks! :flower3:

Looks delicious! :)
Thank you :)

Chelle - your meal looks wonderful! Also looks like you enjoyed the sangria. ;)
The sangria was very good :thumbsup2 thank you :goodvibes

I had no idea! I've learned my something new for the day :woohoo:

Nice line up. Marcel and I will be at the Caymus on 9/25 also. I would love to go to the Barcelona T&W but we are leaving work at noon that day and are not sure if we will make it in time so I didn't want to prepay. If we get there in time and there are still openings we will try for it. Sounds yummy.

Gina wonderful shower pictures :thumbsup2 I've heard the Chateau is a beautiful place.
it is a very nice place..reasonable and yummy!
Now, THAT's a shower party! :thumbsup2 Everything looks wonderful! :lovestruc Congratulations, Gina! May you have a long, happy life together! :cloud9:

Cheers!
Michelle
thanks Michelle...it was a very nice day!

Hi all! Well, DD started kindergarten today.....I was not expecting to feel very emotional about it because she's been going to day care since she was 9 months, but I have to admit that I got a little teary eyed this morning. She of course, could not wait to see the back of me and DH!:lmao:

Gina, amazing looking shower, and congrats on the cool gifts!
Thank you !
And good luck to your little kindergartener..i just LOVE that age..that is what i taught for 3 years before the mortgage biz :)

The pics are wonderful and it all sounds delicious, especially the lemon curd/lemon buttercream. I'll be glad to help you eat those :goodvibes
heehee!! :) i wish someone would..i do have a dress to get into soon! ;)

Gina, the bridal shower (and those cupcakes!) looked fabulous! :cloud9:

I couldn't get on early enough to book the discounted rate of the demos I wanted other than the Bunratty Mead demo on 10/14. But I was able to book full price for Todd English on 10/16 and Greg Richie from Tchoup Chop on 10/17.
Thank you! Todd English huh..i just saw him last night on Top Chef..what a good looking guy!! ;)

These look awesome! So pretty! Sounds like the shower was a huge success. Thanks for sharing the food porn with us. :thumbsup2
:goodvibes My pleasure ..i love sharing food love!

There wasn't any sangria left over (duh!) and very little food leftovers, so I guess it turned out OK :goodvibes
:thumbsup2 looks awesome!!!

sounds about right Brenda..as long as you and Jason live it up in Foodie heaven..all will be well in the world!

SIDENOTE about tarts...poor little things..they had no chance ;) hahahah! Question, what kind of pastry did you use? i have a tube of croissant, 3/4 a wheel of brie and raspberry preserves, and i think cups like that would be a nice change from the usual big log o' baked brie i usually make...
