I have DisneyLand Food Porn! Is that allowed here? :flower3:

I went this past weekend with the Spouse and we ate at Cafe Orleans. The only way I can get him to Disneyland is to bribe him with a Monty Cristo and a churro. No churro this time, but even the heat wouldn't keep him from a deepfried turkey, ham, and cheese sandwich/donut.

mmm donut sandwich

Monte Cristo - Sliced turkey, ham and Swiss cheese in a light batter, fried and served with berry puree
I get this about once a year myself. I always think "Mmmm tasty meat donut" and it is good, but it's too much for me. This isn't the Spouse's favorite sandwich ever, but it's in his top five.

09-09-2621.jpg

Pommes Frites - Traditional French-fried potatoes tossed with Parmesan cheese, garlic and parsley, served with a Cajun spice remoulade
These fries smell amazing. They are so good and salty and garlicy and the sauce is just drool worthy. We share these, but the Spouse eats most of them.

Chicken Gumbo Crepe - Delicate crepe - made to order. Sauteed chicken, andouille sausage, tasso ham, and Creole gumbo sauce. Served with sauteed asparagus and new potatoes.
I always switch it up, but I got the crepe this time around. There is so much chicken and sausage in this, it's crazy.

Later in the day we also got a leaning tower of DoleWhip:

By we, I mean us. The Spouse wasn't really into it and was stuffed from his ham donut earlier.

I wasn't allowed to take too many photos of the restaurant because the Spouse doesn't like to draw attention to himself. He was equally amused and horrified when I showed him all the Mascot photos I did running around Disneyland with a backpack full of stuffed animals and action figures. He still thought over all that Wall*E was adorable and that I'm seven kinds of precious.:goodvibes

So, halfway through our meal he started laughing and I asked him what was up. He said there was another woman taking photos of her food a couple tables over. I told him to give in to the Dis-collective, resistance is futile. :lmao:

ohhhhh... where was all that when I was there last year???

Ok... I did sneak in a dole whip and a couple of Mickey Bars... and I LOVE the Mickey pretzels... and the tigger tails... :upsidedow

It's just a frozen loaf of sourdough French from Schwans ... we stock up on those and then when we have a bread / cheese crave just toss one in the oven after massaging it with some olive oil and garlic salt.

BTW ... I added your dates to the list - second post on the first page if you want to see what everyone else's travel dates look like. :goodvibes

All I have to say about the food pics is yum. Your family pic is so cute. Believe it or not we may finally have our dates for F&W:rolleyes1:yay:. Its about time.

Brenda, it looks like I won't be able to make it. :sad2: Right now things are up in the air for me and it wouldn't be right if I told you I was going to be there and then not show.

Oh Debbie, that's too bad. I hope things work out OK for you, whether you can make it to WDW next month or not.

:thumbsup2:goodvibes LOVE it!!! The ravs looks awesome..and the picture is adorable. Handsome Pete is TOO CUTE..or should I say, Handsome. How old is he?

Pete is nine years old ... he and our house are the same age; first we had the house built and then we decided we needed a kitty. He was the most alert and responsive of all the furbabies at Pet Smart and we fell in love right away. He has such a friendly, lovey, smart personality ... we loves him very much.

Hooray for having F&W dates ...

mmm DISNEYLAND food porn..YUM! We were supposed to go to Blue Bayou last Oct. when we visited the land..to have that very meal..we never made it after we gorged ourselves at breakfast..i hate it when that happens ;)..but it looks delicious!

Has anyone here ever had Lobster Pizza...it is SO good. I had a piece as an appetizer for my bach. party in Newport..HOLY MOLY! I do have pics of that and some other fun foods/things we did..MUST upload tonight after our dance lesson ( yah, that is right..DANCE LESSON!!!). Hubby to be requested we take some so he can feel more comfortable with our first dance and such..sounded fun to me!! :)

Laura, yummy food porn! That Monte Cristo looks much more manageable than the giant one at Blue Bayou, but oh, was it good! You hit it on the head describing a ham and cheese doughtnut. Next year I gotta try those fries!

Gina, post the bachelorette food porn! (making sure that "food" is definitely typed in there...) :rotfl2:

Brenda, I'm quite impressed with your ravioli! :thumbsup2 I love all of your little crimped edges, I know that took quite a while to do.

Shenanigoat, I really like that New Orleans style food porn! Yes we will fry anthing & everything here, so the fried Monte Christo is fitting.;)

I've been baking today. Blueberry bread & if my dough rises, I'm making naan/flatbread to go with shrimp curry I cooked last night!

p.s. I'm excited that will be wining, dining and caking (caking:confused::laughing:) with Bendy & a few friendies NEXT MONTH!!!

Thanks for the comments on the food porn everyone. You can get the Monty Cristo at Blue Bayou and at Cafe Orleans. The Spouse likes Cafe Orleans better because they have the garlic/parm fries.

MA pigletfan- I've had lobster pizza before- totally awesome. I've also had lobster nachos before:lovestruc I love those giant ocean bugs! I hope you post more pictures soon.:surfweb:

I could write a love poem to the Monte Cristo......:lovestruc

Is there anything that doesn't taste better deep fried?

I don't know....if it was deep fried and dusted with powdered sugar, I think I'd like it.

:lmao:

For some reason all weekend the phrase deep fried cigarette has been in my head ... I don't know why because I'm not a smoker ... but when you posted your rhetorical question I had to say it.

So thank you Winkers! :goodvibes

Booyah!

We scored a five-course Spanish wine / cuisine dinner for the last Saturday in September and this time we're going to have some friends with us ... people unlike the chromosome kids who don't mind our addiction to food porn and who probably love food more than Jay and me.

What a great way to gear up for October!

Someone who loves food more than you and Jay? So, I see you'll finally be meeting Homer Simpson.:upsidedow

I have a mental image of you two singing together:

I like pizza,
I like bagels,
I like hot dogs with mustard and beer!

I'll eat eggplant,
I could even eat a baby dear
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!

Sounds like lots of fun! Looking forward to hearing about it.

Food and wine is getting closer--can't wait. :yay:In the meantime, I'm working on details for a couple of Vegas trips. One with hubby-business, and the other with dear friends.

I've been watching for when Jersey Boys tickets go on sale for Dec, not quite yet, but we're getting there. I made the reservations for Rao's, hotel has been squared away, so the show tickets are the last thing I need to do ahead of time.
This regularly thinking about booking/planning...I think it's a disease I caught from Disney.:rotfl::rotfl:

I'm loving all the food porn.

And Gina, I had lobster BLT flatbread at the Uno's pizza chain, as a seasonal item a few weeks ago. I thought I posted the food porn of that.

Brenda, we all must train for the eating adventure that is Disney. ;) I evidently have trained too much this summer and the shorts were not very loose yesterday. Goodbye starches and sweets. :sad2:

We are getting closer to deciding some plans with our friends that are going. I was at their house last night and the 17 year old heard us talking about $30 pp for 'Ohana's (they are trying to figure out a food budget) and the poor kid said he and his friend would just go to McDonald's! :rotfl2: Meeting tonight with the spreadsheet to finalize some stuff--they already said I can just go ahead and make their adrs. :faint:

Nothing like having friends who enjoy food and drink as much as you!
