Why is this about you? I never mentioned you. I've never thought anything about you except that you are generally pretty nice in your posts, and sometimes funny.grimley1968 said:Not only is he beloved by "sporting-event people" (funny, I thought there was more to me than to be lumped into the group "sporting-event people"), but I would say he has a family that loves him, friends, teammates, etc.
But now you've decided to continue this, even though I already apologized for going OT. What do you want from me? Honestly, what can I do?
And I said "sporting-event" because I'm not sure if it is football or not.
Of course the guy has people who DO care about him. I'm just not one of them, that's all.
I've done a lot of dumb things (ask DH!) Mentioning that I don't care about Ben Whatshisname is one of them, I guess. Apparently not caring about this guy is very wrong to many people.grimley1968 said:I'm willing to bet that Ben Roethlisberger would be more charitable toward some person screen-named "Cool-Beans" who he has never heard of and who has doubtless done a few dumb things in his/her lifetime, than you are being toward him and one dumb thing he did, and all those who might be a bit upset about this.
But I haven't been ANYTHING toward him. Not charitable. Not uncharitable. All I said was I didn't care about him. I assure that he doesn't care about me. (He doesn't know me. I'm OK with it..)
And nobody will ever hear me say that people deserve what they got because it is their fault. You misread something there. There are a LOT of nurses who'd say, "Well, he wasn't wearing his helmet...tough beans." Just like they blame smokers for their lung cancer and fat people for their diabetes and heart problems.
I firmly believe that everyone is entitled to attentive, caring docotrs/nurses (esp. with the nurses). It doesn't matter how they ended up where they are, they are still suffering and at their most vulnerable and should be able to count on us for kindness.
Do you care about my patients? They are very sick. Would you like to hear their stories? Get updates? Want to come visit them and sit by their beds? NO! You don't! Doesn't make you a bad person.
The fact that I do care about them doesn't make me a better person than you.
I resent the implication that if I don't happen to care about the same people you do that I am somehow not as good or as charitable as you are.
But I'm still sorry that I brought up the motorcycle thing. I shouldn't have done it.
