I didn't know it was a balloon! Hell, I would have tried to pop it for sure if I'd known that!
Our Wisconsin neices and nephew are really good, sweet kids ... it's just that I'm one of those people who likes family in small doses and I really need quiet time at the end of the day to wind down. Jay's family thinks I'm nuts because they are a huge, loud crowd ... he's got something like 30 first cousins and it just gets bigger and louder from there.
Being around them for too long shatters my delicate nerves.
You know what, hon? I totally get you. I have one son, and he's four. He's a great kid. He has his moments, like they all do. I come from a big Italian and Irish family, and my husband is from a big Italian family. So when we have family get togethers, I live in the world of loud.
But when I come home...with my one child, and my lovely husband, and everyone's sleeping and it's quiet, I am a very, very happy TK.
Thanks Brenda! Sounds like you've got your own brand of fun to deal with. Perhaps a flask is in order? You could tell the kids it's your "medicine"....
I just got this mental image of her sweeping around like some villian with her flask, cackling to herself.
Don't know why. Bendy, you know I love you, right?
I'm not sure if I should be happy or sad that I missed the giant pepto cupcake castle.
Happy. You're very, very happy.
Happy to be an enabler!
And obviously, I'm quite pleased to be enabled.
If you dare...

And it WAS painted... the attachments were inflatable...
They did it right before the Castle was due for a major overhaul...
I stand corrected.
And I'm appalled. They painted MY CASTLE??? Okay, it's not mine, but you know what I mean.
Woohoo! Another Fforde Ffan!
I know that I've recommended the Thursday Next series to Brenda before. I enjoy the geek factor and "inside" jokes that anyone who likes to read should easily understand. I thought the first book of the Nursery Crimes series was good, but I didn't like the second one as much. I don't even know if he had a third, but it's been a while since I checked.
Oh, YAY!!!! I love Jasper Fforde. I've read all the Thursday Next series, and I love them. Isn't he working on another as well? I thought I might ahve read that somewhere. I have to reread them, because I don't get everything the first time, it's great. I did read the first in the Nursery Crime series, and I've started the second, but it's not really pulling me in. I like revisiting familiar characters, but with Thursday, I always dive right in.
These are all the way back on page 162!
Vodka Slush
6 oz. can of frozen OJ (thawed and undiluted)
12 oz. can of frozen lemonade (thawed and undiluted)
12 oz. can of frozen limeade (thawed and undiluted)
1 cup sugar
3 1/2 cups water
2 cups vodka
2 liter bottle of lemon-lime soda
Combine first 6 ingredients, mixing well. Freeze for 48 hours, stirring occasionally. For each serving spoon 3/4 cup frozen mixture into a tall glass; fill with soda. Serve at once!
Sounds nummy!
I'm looking forward to Sci-Fi, too. Seems like a great place to relax, get out of the crowds and heat and cool off.
I'm hoping that my four year old son (who loves cars, trains, trucks, etc) will love the theming. And love eating in a car (if we can get one hopefully) in front of a giant movie screen.
Seriously, what's better than that?
Never mind the boozy beverages for me.
Thank you so much for the heads up. It's been weird trying to plan ADRs (my booking window opened today) without having some idea of park hours.
I love the Thursday Next books! They read so fast but in a good way, there is a lot going on. I was reading The Big Over Easy on my last WDW trip. I used to manage a bookstore and would recommend them to everyone as a beachy/travel read.
You used to manage a book store?
Okay, I shouldn't say it like that, technically, I managed a book store in the sense that the museum shop I ran carried books, but we had other things too. I just think that's so neat.
