Belly Up to the Bar With Bendy and Her Friendies!!! Button Pics & New Thread Started!

A final post ...

here's the quilt Jay's mom made us spread across our bed with Handsome Pete doing his best to turn it orange with kitty hair.

Pretty!

Ok.. judging by the stuff on the nightstands... I think Pete's on YOUR side of the bed... ;)

Caught up with the posts a few minutes too late to wish you all the best for your procedure tomorrow Bendy. I don't suppose we'll be getting a review of the hospital food or anything?

I've been MIA on this thread because after the orchestra got back from its grueling tour, we had to do 18 shows in 21 days and I'm so exhausted that I often feel physically ill. Normally I'm like an old workhorse that just goes on and on ... but it's all been a bit much. The free time I did have for the boards was spent on the American Idol thread where we had a very lively debate raging about Adam versus Kris. :rolleyes1 Thank heavens that obsession is over the the year.

Anyway, I've had no interesting food experiences to report. I didn't have time to go out to dinner while on tour and the poutines I had in Montréal were no better than what I could get it home. I haven't really had time to cook, so it's been take-out , fast food and pre-marinated stuff. Of course, my weight loss has taken a beating as a result and I'm up 4 pounds. I'm back to counting points today because I have to take that off and some more - fast. I'm booked as a speaker on 3 European cruises this summer (virtually back to back), and after all the contracts were signed, the agent for Celebrity Cruise lines informed me the ship now insists on having a 45 minute DVD (talking in front of a live audience, no less) for anyone sailing after July 1 -which would be me.

That's just terrific because I never filmed any of my talks. Now I've got to throw something together in two weeks - which means finding a camera, someone to film and edit, and a space where I can project the PowerPoint. Not to mention cutting the lecture down to 45". I'm not gonna bother with the audience, so it will end up looking like some stilted infomercial.

The cheese and pie pictures look so delicious, I just about have to tie myself to this chair to stop from running to the store and pigging out on soft cheese and pie.

I think I posted awhile back about my grandmother's health problems, though I can't remember for sure if I mentioned it in this thread or not, but she passed away this morning.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Do you still have other grand parents or was this last one?

We're back from Switzerland!
I tell ya, there is something about that country I love.:cloud9:

We had a view of the Matterhorn right outside on our balcony. It was scrumptious. :cloud9:

We had some Absinthe. It was not scrumptious.:scared:

Welcome back, Briarmom. What I find so special in Europe are all the adorable little towns nestled in between those gorgeous mountains. Unfortunately the rural towns in North America, whether it be by mountains or beaches, are usually anything but cute. It's like the same tacky strip mall plunked down in every location.

Day 1) Breakfast - Crystal Palace, before park opening

Dinner - 'Ohana (new for us),
--probably early so we can go back to the park for closing, OR watch the fireworks from the beach.

Day 2) Biergarten for lunch,
--before hopping to DHS (SIL is waterparking that day)

Day 3) Dinner - Tutto Italia (new for us)

Day 4) DHS counter services (not thrilled with the restaurants here.)

Day 5) This is my ???? day.
Lunch in or near MK - looking at the Plaza or LTT (both new for us).

Dinner - Park Fare (new)- late seating after MK closes for MNSSHP.
[And thus the problem of not eating too much for lunch. Hmmmm...]

Day 6) AK - Tusker House (new), lunch.
This will be the first Sat. of F & W. DH and I plan on having a date night cruising the booths for dinner. (suggestions needed.)

Day 7) Rose and Crown - Dinner

Day 8) Le Cellier - Lunch before hopping to MK for our last night.

So, there it is. Any and all suggestions, hints, or whatever accepted.

I thought the Sci-fi diner wasn't too bad at all. I'll be including that in my ADRs, primarily because the milkshake is included as your drink - at least that's what other posters have said. Sounds like we're there at approximately the same time but I was planning to skip the Food and Wine Festival the first weekend (due to crowds), and go on Monday and Tuesday instead. I've decided for Chefs de France over Tutto Italia because we have a lot of good Italian places locally. For the counter service, I'm thinking Sunshine Seasons and Rose and Crown.
The other difference is that I want to include more resort restaurants than theme park restaurants - including breakfast at Boma. I find the food at the resorts is generally better.
Bendy, between Narcoosee's and Citrico's - which one would you recommend? And what do you think of lunch or dinner at Crystal Palace?

Disneyfav, I am so sorry about your Grandmother.:guilty:

Hold up. THREE BACK TO BACK EUROPEAN CRUISES??????????????? I am jealous.

What do you play in the Orchestra? I must have missed that.
I agree about the freakin' cute towns in Europe. They're so adorable! Right now, I am just plain petrified we'll be moving back to the US. I don't wanna. Not yet.

Bendy, good luck today.

The kids and I went to The Cheese Lady this morning. There's a cute little farm that sells cheeses about half an hour from here.
We bought wedges of young, middle aged, and old.:rotfl: The old is 16 months. This is the limit of my knowledge, except for the fact that it's GOOOOOD. I also got a soft spread that I love that has some sort of fresh herbs in it. Man, I will miss the cheese lady.:cloud9:

I'll be running over to the boulangerie for a couple of fresh baguettes, and voila! Dinner.:thumbsup2

I am off to do my mom duty by volunteering for 6th grade field day.

I will catch up here after field day, but wanted to stop in and wish you luck today Bendy

Take good care, Bendy! I'll be thinking of you today.

Today is a great day! DD starts her new job. She was laid off in Dec., and
finally landed a great job with benefits! :cool1:

She called yesterday--and mentioned that she and BF are talking engagement. Lots of happy stuff happening for her.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Do you still have other grand parents or was this last one?
This was actually the first one I lost. Well, second, but her husband died before I was born, so I never knew him. Both my other grandmother and grandfather are alive.

I don't have much time to comment on the tasty food/booze postings, but I wanted to let Bendy know I'm thinking of her today

Hope everything goes well, and you can enjoy the rest of your Stinktown vacay! :goodvibes

Brenda - thanks for all the suggestions! :goodvibes

Praying you have a succesful and helpful day today, and that whatever they do actually IMPROVES your health in some way.

Best wishes on your infomercial! :thumbsup2

We very much enjoyed both lunch and dinner at CP. Interesting choices. That said, we're pretty plain food people, so it might not be exotic in your book. Good solid food choices, good desserts.

Brenda .. just sending good thoughst your way!:)

ditto on the good thoughts heading your way, Brenda!!
and a good amount of drool accompanying the cheese pics i just saw.... ;)

I have been thinking of you all morning, Brenda. I hope all went well.

Hiya friendies! :goodvibes

First off, thank you so much for the good thoughts and virtual hugs ... I really appreciate them. :grouphug:

Secondly, now that most of the drugs have worn off and I'm just "tired" as opposed to stutteringly incoherent I have excellent news - while the parasitic twin is still with me and still angry, it is not malignant. :thumbsup2 We were told today that these type of tumor rarely become malignant but do run the risk of growing larger and interferring with the digestive process or placing pressure on surrounding organs if they grow the "wrong" way. They want me to come back in 2-3 years to monitor it but otherwise I've been given a clean bill of health (for me - ha ha!).

Here's hoping everything else stays under control and I can finally make it through a year without any flare ups or new angry conditions. ;) That would be the first time in five years ... :scared::eek:

Tatania ... glad to hear from you again, I was beginning to worry. Good luck with everything - I'm sure you're going to do fantastic!

As for Citricos v. Narcoossees, I would opt for Citricos.

Narcoossees is a lovely setting and the view across the Seven Seas Lagoon is gorgeous, but Jay and I felt that for a restaurant that specializes in seafood they didn't hold a candle to Flying Fish or Bluezoo. The food was good but it didn't WOW us and the service was a little inattentive.

Citricos on the other hand was a marvel - relaxed, elegant setting with professional, knowledgable servers and amazing food. And the manager there went above and beyond the call of duty when our special order from the bakery was misplaced. We can't wait to have dinner there again this fall. :thumbsup2

Brenda, I'm so glad to hear that you're okay!:cheer2: I enjoyed your pictures of dinner last night; it's nice to know that someone's husband can take a steak off the grill early enough . Maybe I'll show dh the picture for reference next time.

Tatania, it sounds like you had an exhausting few weeks! Good luck on your dvd presentation.

Briarmom, I'm jealous that you have a cheese lady, if only for a while longer! Do you know where you're moving state-side, or did I miss that post?

Disneyfav4ever, I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother. That's a really hard loss. :flower3:

Glad to hear you are on the mend and that your digestive tract has been approved for yet another culinary tour... Did you tell the Dr. that you couldn't have anything wrong because we count on you too much to eat much more food than we do?

Rest, my friend... and get back on your feet soon...

Headache is starting to go away and Jay made me a kahlua colada since my throat was kind of sore from the scope.

I'm working on our Scottish Arms review, which I'm posting on the blog. I hope to have that one finished tomorrow before heading out for our wine dinner!

:cool1:

Feeling better already! :thumbsup2

Brenda, I totally apologize that I didn't know you had anything going on, until just now. Thank goodness the news was good! I'm sending good thoughts that you'll feel better (well as good as your "normal") asap!:flower3:
