Sorry I haven't been a good poster here. I'm spending too much time on the Dining page that I forget about this one. But I did go out to dinner the other night and thought I should share. My kids had a Water polo game at this place North of us. It is BRAND NEW community. We live in a very old community in comparison. Anyways... we've always wanted to try Guy's restaurant from Diner, Drive-in, etc.. on Food TV. So, here was our chance. It is called Johnny's Garlic (not sure why though?)
It is modern looking on the outside. Not really my style. It really didn't have any character to me. Here are some inside shots:
The menu:
Dh ordered a beer. He said it was HUGE not something he'd normally order on non-vacation time (although the waiter warned him)
We got Foccocia bread (spelling??) and olive and vinegar to dip. The bread was yummy. I haven't had some in a long time that tasted this good and fresh. I didn't dip because it usually upsets my tummy..
Dd7 ordered mini-burgers with cheese. The fries were very good for some reason.
Dd11 ordered the adult sized pizza (she just came back from water polo games and was STARVING)...
Dh ordered the Buffalo Steak Dish (the signature dish there)... It came with mashed potatoes and some sort of greens. The meat was fatty to him. He said that it was okay. He was expecting more a WOW factor since it was the signature dish.
I ordered Bacon Wrapped Prawns with Chipotle sauce over Mashed potatoes and veggies. The bacon was not cooked (in fact it was pretty raw to me) but I wasn't planning on eating too many as it is fattening. So, I just ate the prawns. The sauce was spicy almost too spicey. The mashed potatoes were excellent but too rich. Finally, the veggies were very good.
The girls wanted dessert so, they shared a Brownie Sundae. It was the best thing we had besides the bread basket. The brownie was warm too.
Overall... this was a THUMBS DOWN restaurant for us. We weren't impressed. I was really expecting a WOW factor so, I think I over thought the restaurant. Definitely won't go out of my way to try this place again. I do know if I ever get to S.C. I'm trying Paula Deen's Restaurant. I've eat at Emeril's in Vegas, Bobby Flay's in Vegas and NYC. I loved their restaurants so, we were a bit disappointed here.
