Chocolate & Bailey's :hyper: :faint: This sounds like heaven :worship:

I have to admit that I was a bad food porn girl last night :guilty: DH & I went out for a date and had drinks & dinner at The Palm and I didn't even take my camera :sad2: I can say that it was fabulous ::yes:: We started in the bar where DH had Grey Goose with a splash of cranberry and I had an old favorite, Long Island Iced Tea. I haven't had that in years, but it sounded really good and it was :thumbsup2 After an hour or so in the bar (and a couple of drinks  ) we were seated for dinner. Apparently 2009 is the year of the lobster at The Palm. DH & I shared a salad and since we asked for the yucky anchoivies on the side (I think they're yucky, DH likes them) our waitress brought out the salad on 2 plates for us (very nice!). We then both had the surf & turf. 9oz filet and half of a 3lb lobster. It was a splurge, but so worth it! The lobster was so sweet, that it almost didn't need butter. Of course I had the butter anyways ;) and both filets were cooked perfectly :thumbsup2 We also got an order of their onion strings, which were very good, but a little to heavy to go with the rich lobster. They had just smelled so good when a table near us earlier had had them. We ended up bringing them home and will have them this afternoon for lunch/snack :thumbsup2 Now the thing that I regret not having a picture of was the dessert tray that they brought out. Wow!!! There was a chocolate brownie layer cake, and a spiced carrot cake that were both huge! Probably 6 inches tall and about a 1/4-1/3 of a standard nine inch round cake :faint: There was also a creme brulee, and a fresh berry dessert that they promised wouldn't be healthy with the whipped cream they serve on it  and a few other choices that I don't remember. We were too full to eat anything then, but we did order that chocolate cake to bring home :cool1: I can't wait to have that later today :hyper: We finished up with a cup of coffee before heading home.

It was a wonderful meal, excellent food & service! Now here's where I'm going to get on my soapbox for a minute for everyone that complains about the prices at Disney and how long the meals take --fully knowing that those of you reading this understand and aren't the ones that usually complain about these things.
1. Our bar tab for 4 drinks (2 apiece) was $54 (I wish I hadn't seen that receipt) Drinks were about $13 each, so the prices on the slushies in France aren't looking too bad now.
2. We were seated for dinner around 8:30 and left around 10:30, 2 hours for signature dining is normal for the World & the world.
3. Our dinner came to just over $200 for the 2 of us (YIKES!) Part of the reason we splurged was because we had a gift certificate that DH's boss had given him for his bday. I still really missed having my DDE/TiW card though ;) We've spent $150 at HBD (including 2 drinks) for the 4 of us, and $200 at Yachtsman & Jiko for 4 of us (all totals after DDE). Looking at that, I'm thinking it's cheaper to have fine dining at Disney :scratchin
OK, rant over. I just had to get that off my chest :goodvibes

I finally updated all of the links ... I think! :upsidedow

If I missed something let me know.

Kabuki ... that cake sounds like something that I could eat all by myself and maybe even in one sitting. I'm not proud but there it is. :lmao:

Michelle ... I really enjoyed reading about your dinner at the Palm. Thanks for sharing it with us! :goodvibes

Oh, and before I forget ...

I did post a brief update on the blog about non-Disney reviews we have in the works for this year. It's nothing too exciting but will give you a glimpse into what you can expect once the weather warms up and we lose some weight. I know they say you shouldn't use food as a reward but in our case it makes perfect sense!! :rotfl2:

PS ... the link is in my signature along with everything else. ;-)

Michelle! DOn't worry about the pics .. thanks for giving the review! It sound like you had a wonderful night!

Brenda! Yes, this cake sounds great. I haven't done it yet because I have been in Bacon land but this is something I NEED to make. It's perfect .. it starts with a box and adds booze!:rotfl:

Plan to catch up on your blog and other Dis Board stuff as soon as my PowerPoint lecture/recital is over on Wednesday. It's weighing heavily on me and taking up a lot of preparation time.

Just wanted to know about this 40% off code. Is it valid for Canadians and/or for non Vacation Club folks?

Good luck with the presentation ... I should be working on a loan request for work and instead I'm watching Jay play with the wii-fit and I'm cleaning bathrooms and doing laundry and tyring to find you a key lime pie martini recipe.

I swear ... I've gone through one bartender's guide and two ultimate martini guides and there is no recipe listed for a key lime pie martini. Whoda thunk? :confused3

So I offer this as a miserable replacement because I think it sounds pretty damn fine!

Irish Martini

1 shot Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey
1 shot Bailey's Irish Cream

Shake over ice in your fancy-schmancy martini shaker and then pour into a martini glass that has been rimmed with a mix of cinnamon and sugar.

I imagine that substitutions are entirely permissable and encouraged. :thumbsup2

BTW ... I don't know anything about the code that people are buzzing about but I'm pretty sure it's not something that can be combined with DVC - most offers aren't applicable to us DVCers.

I'll make the cake you make the martini's and lets meet in the middle?!:thumbsup2

Tonight we are enjoying coffee with booze ...

half a cup of fresh brewed coffee, 1/4 cup warm milk, and a splash of kahlua mocha (add two sugar cubes if you're like me and like a little more sweetness to your coffee).

Delicious!!! :thumbsup2

BTW ... curious about what we've named this drink?

Coffee flavored coffee!!! ;-)

Can we add some whipped cream to that??? I just love to have whipped cream on my coffee... :goodvibes

My house is in the middle!!! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

So's MINE!!!! (Really... I win!!! :thumbsup2 )

Yesterday we (me & the adult girls in the family) went to a local pbs fundraiser. Chocolate Sunday! Every kind of chocolate imaginable with lots of chocolate themed adult beverages. It was delicious & fun! But I can't even believe I'm saying this but there is a thing as too much chocolate & alcohol!!! :faint:

It was rich chocolate, after rich chocolate of every kind. Truffles, cupcakes, bread puddings, cakes, you name it. I think the ones I enjoyed the most was Zapp's New Voodoo Gumbo Chips dipped in dark chocolate & a Raspberry gelato with a chocolate zinfadel sauce! But I just kept looking for the Rosa to go with that! The event was from 3pm-5pm. By 3:45 we all (5 of us) had serious sugar overload & quite an alcohol (or sugar) buzz! We didn't fail all of womankind totally though. We took a break, had tea, water & coffee, then went back for more! I'm sorry I don't have pics, it was a cruising type event (like PFTS) with few tables. I think we took 2 pics. :sad2: I was somewhat disappointed in the liquor choices. Only one champagne vendor, one wine vendor, the rest was chocolate infused beverages mostly varities of martinis. Don't get me wrong I love chocolatini's but how much vodka can one consume in a 2 hour period? I was much disappointed in myself. I don't think I did Brenda proud! :guilty:

Now what kind of friend would I be if I didn't offer to tag along next year to observe and remedy this situation.;)
