Chocolate & Bailey's

This sounds like heaven
I have to admit that I was a bad food porn girl last night

DH & I went out for a date and had drinks & dinner at The Palm and I didn't even take my camera

I can say that it was fabulous

We started in the bar where DH had Grey Goose with a splash of cranberry and I had an old favorite, Long Island Iced Tea. I haven't had that in years, but it sounded really good and it was

After an hour or so in the bar (and a couple of drinks

) we were seated for dinner. Apparently 2009 is the year of the lobster at The Palm. DH & I shared a salad and since we asked for the yucky anchoivies on the side (I think they're yucky, DH likes them) our waitress brought out the salad on 2 plates for us (very nice!). We then both had the surf & turf. 9oz filet and half of a 3lb lobster. It was a splurge, but so worth it! The lobster was so sweet, that it almost didn't need butter. Of course I had the butter anyways

and both filets were cooked perfectly

We also got an order of their onion strings, which were very good, but a little to heavy to go with the rich lobster. They had just smelled so good when a table near us earlier had had them. We ended up bringing them home and will have them this afternoon for lunch/snack

Now the thing that I regret not having a picture of was the dessert tray that they brought out. Wow!!! There was a chocolate brownie layer cake, and a spiced carrot cake that were both huge! Probably 6 inches tall and about a 1/4-1/3 of a standard nine inch round cake

There was also a creme brulee, and a fresh berry dessert that they promised wouldn't be healthy with the whipped cream they serve on it

and a few other choices that I don't remember. We were too full to eat anything then, but we did order that chocolate cake to bring home

I can't wait to have that later today

We finished up with a cup of coffee before heading home.
It was a wonderful meal, excellent food & service! Now here's where I'm going to get on my soapbox for a minute for everyone that complains about the prices at Disney and how long the meals take --fully knowing that those of you reading this understand and aren't the ones that usually complain about these things.
1. Our bar tab for 4 drinks (2 apiece) was $54 (I wish I hadn't seen that receipt) Drinks were about $13 each, so the prices on the slushies in France aren't looking too bad now.
2. We were seated for dinner around 8:30 and left around 10:30, 2 hours for signature dining is normal for the World & the world.
3. Our dinner came to just over $200 for the 2 of us (YIKES!) Part of the reason we splurged was because we had a gift certificate that DH's boss had given him for his bday. I still really missed having my DDE/TiW card though

We've spent $150 at HBD (including 2 drinks) for the 4 of us, and $200 at Yachtsman & Jiko for 4 of us (all totals after DDE). Looking at that, I'm thinking it's cheaper to have fine dining at Disney
OK, rant over. I just had to get that off my chest
