Has anyone ever made a Belle (or any princess) cake where the cake is the dress and you use the 1/2 doll as the top part of body and head? If so, it this easy and how exactly do you do it? My daughter loves Belle and her birthday is next week. I'm wondering if I should try to attempt this or just buy a cake. Thank you!

Thank you, thank you!!!!!! This is exactly what I was looking for. Have good day!

I did this many years ago when Little Mermaid came out using Arial. But I changed it up a little by decorating the "dress" as rock w/ shells and sand and water at the bottom and sitting Arial on top. So that's another alternative. Sit Belle on top of the "rock" and put a book in her hands like she's reading at the beach. Or a second idea... a tradional shaped tier cake with the Christmas Belle ornament that they are selling at the Disney Store on top with red roses around her. They are also selling a set of Beauty & the Beast characters or the plastic set of princesses to decorate the lower tier with.

The cake with Belle as you have planned is beautiful and I hope it turns out well. I just thought I'd offer some alternatives.

Wilton has a pan specifically for the doll cakes. I have done at least a dozen of these cakes and I use the entire doll. The Wilton pan has a rod for even baking that leaves a hole through the center of the cake and allows me to insert the dolls legs. You just have to be really careful when putting the doll's legs into the cake. Michael's and other craft stores carry the Wilton pans. I bet your princess will love her cake!

My dd noticed these on sale at our local Albertson's. We usually see the barbie on decorated with pink frosting. But this was definitely Belle. Yellow dress, brown hair. It was beautiful but I can't testify about the taste.

Also, I remember Martha Stewart did this on her show before. You may want to do a search on marthastewart.com

've made a few of the wilton doll cakes myself. It is fairly easy to do and they have serveral variations on the box (including a mermaid). If you want to use the pick instead of a whole doll Micheals usually carries the blonde, brunette and African American picks. I think the pan came with the brunette one (would be good for Belle)

Thank you for your responses. I bought the wilton doll pan and the brunette pick and my mother actually made the cake. She was so excited because she hasn't made a doll cake in years! It came out great. Belle held a small red rose in her hand and there were yellow sparkels on her dress. Now, after reading your responses, I'm thinking of ariel for next year. That cake sounds great. :)
