Being short!

I'm 5'4"..sometimes I measure 5'4.5".

I have never considered myself short, half my friends are shorter than me, half taller, but all within 3-4 inches of me.
I always felt perfectly average.
My dad is 6'4", Mom was 5'0"
My brothers are 5'9 and 5'10".

My husband is 5'7", as is his father. He would like to be taller, but has never ever let it bother him, he's just not the type to worry about height. He's self confident and it's never anything he thinks about, even when I have heels on and am taller than him.

My 13 year old daughter is already taller than me at 5'5", I think she'll end up 5'6", doctor says 5'7". We'll see.
I really hope she isn't any taller than 5'7" max.
The doctor said my 11 year old son would be 5'10". I'm not putting any stock in it, but I am sooooo hoping that comes to pass.
Hoping my Daddy's genes show up in my sons height!

I'm 5' 2.5" and I'm the tallest woman in my family! :rotfl:
DD will probably surpass me & become the tallest girl in the family. She is 15 and my height.

DH is 5'10"

I like being small. ::yes::

I'm 5'1". DH is only 5'5". Perfect for each other. My oldest DD is 13 and still hasn't hit the 5' mark. Fingers crossed for her!

My mom will tell you she's 5'2", but I'm taller than her.

With petite clothing, I have had great luck with Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, and Ann Taylor Loft. And even though they don't have a petite department, I have also had really good luck with Express. They carry their pants in 00 shorts - not always in the store, but you can order online.

I've tried all of them. Unfortunately, they don't carry much in the way of size 16 and 18. However, I have lost 19 pounds and have FINALLY fit back in to a size 12p :cool1:! I haven't been that size since 1994! My favorite pair of dress pants are the pair I bought from Bannana Republic last month. However, I'm in that in-between stage. Meaning I can fit into a size 14P or a size 12P depending on the cut of the skirt or pants.

I'm also not too fond of the style they have of late. I've tried on a few dress tops from Bannana Republic and Anne Taylor Loft, and none of them look good on me (except for the one top I got from Loft last Spring). I've been in Ann Taylor, but 99% of the clothes they sell are all dry clean only. I'd rather have clothes that I can wash rather than spending money on a weekly dry cleaning bill.

I've also tried Express, but nothing fits correctly. Plus, their style is more for the women in their 20's and mid 30's. Most of the styles that have been out for a few years have that 80s look to it with an updated look, which I absolutely . I'm 41 and while that style looked good on me back when I was a teenager, it doesn't now :(

I'm only 5'0"! Shortest person in my whole family. Everyone is taller than me! I'm totally sick of it. I know I can't do anything about it but I hate having to look up at everyone. People always bring it up. I look awkward in heels and I don't like wearing them that often. Sick of it!

Thanks for letting me vent Disers. :goodvibes

I am 5' myself and actually grew a half inch after weight loss, but hear you about heels and having to look up to everyone. That or people leaning down to my height in pictures...lol

Well, I'm 4'3", does that mean I win? :rolleyes1

Being 4'11" would be like a dream come true to me.

Another shortie here, I'm 5'1". I live in heels. I have 3 sisters and 2 are my height, our parents are also short - Mom is 5 feet and Dad about 5'6". My youngest sister is 5'5" and our grandmother always referred to her as the "beanpole" haha! I was always so envious of her though, I would given anything for 4 more inches.

My DH is 5'10", youngest son got his family's height and is also 5'10". My oldest son took after my shorty family and is about 5'6", my daughter even smaller than me at 5 feet.

At 5'10" I sometimes get asked by another customer to get an item from the top shelf at the store. :thumbsup2

Hurray for all shapes and sizes!

Heeeey, I know you! :lmao:

Thank you for doing that. I've never run across a person unwilling to help when I ask. Some of 'em giggle, but they all help!

5' 2" & I live in heals!

I too always end up standing in stores looking at something way up high :confused3 just hoping somebody taller walks by before I have to start climbing up the shelves.

One thing that always confuses me is when stores stock clothes with the smallest sizes on the top shelves. :rotfl: um, :lmao: ok, so how am I supposed to look up there? Shoes are my favorite! Ok, so you stock the boxes of size 6 way up at the top. Okie dokie then :thumbsup2

And the pounds - oh my. Gain 5 lbs & it is a half of a size! So not fair :worried:

Tall-ish person (5'8") here but I never mind when someone asks (politely) for me to help them get something off a shelf. My grandmother was 5'1" & she loved to take me to the grocery store when I visited. When I help someone I'm reminded of my grandmother, which is nice.
My DS has sprouted & is over 6' but I think DD will be the shorty of the family (5'4"-5'6"). She seems to be OK with it, which is good because I have no concept of being a short person. I was 5'5" by 5th grade & only shot up from there.

I'm 4'10".

My biggest problem is shoes. I wear a 5-wide. I can get pants, skirts, dresses, etc. hemmed. I can't find shoes that fit.

Not only do I have a short body, I also have a short foot.

I am also a 5 wide and find shoes hard to find. I still have trouble getting clothes though because of my size.

Try 4'10"! I know what you mean. Everyone is taller than me and those outside my immediate family let me know how little I am. All the jokes and talk about being short........tired of it lol!

I am 5'4" and I have never felt short until now. My children have all grown taller than me. My ds16 is 6ft like my dh. We are not sure if he is going to grow anymore, but he would love to grow a few more inches and be taller than his dad. My dd13 is 5'5" - all legs and still growing I think. My baby, ds11, is also 5'5"!!! I am officially the shorty in the house.

I'm 5'6" and still ask for help getting things off the high shelf. I don't know why I put stuff up there in the first place :rotfl2:

My boyfriend is 6'7" so I feel short next to him. I like it though :goodvibes

Do people ask you rudely? I'm over the top thankful. Like, I want to give you a hug thankful. I'm so glad you were right there at the right time and saved me! I want to tell you how embarrassed I am, and I always apologize and say thank you. Probably too many times. Okay...well, you get what I mean... :worship:

I'm 5'4" ish.

DD#1 is shorter than me--she's only 4'11". :cool1:

DD#2 is taller--she's 5'7". :(

DS is just 10" shorter than me...and he's only 9! :headache:

DH calls me a midget. :lmao:

That's ok, I call him an ogre. He's a shade over 6'4". :rotfl2:

I do this at the grocery when my husband isn't around, and I'm always super, overly-grateful. :worship: And embarrassed - partly because I can't reach, but also because I go over-the-top with appreciation. Why do we do that? :confused3
