Being short!

4'11" (and a half) :rotfl:

I totally hear you. I'm sooo tired of the lame jokes and comments. DD's well on her way to being taller than me and I'm so thankful for her sake.

I'm with you Ephany, 4'11.5"' gotta have the half in there, every bit counts, LOL! My DH is 6'3" and thankfully both kids have some height to them

The grass is always greener, as they say. In my young single days I hated being tall. I'm only 5'8, but once you slap on a pair of heels good luck finding a guy. I think I read somewhere that the average woman is 5'5-5'6 and the average man is 6'0. All I know is that it never seemed like that were many guys taller than I was when I was in my heels! And yes, I do discriminate, lol, I prefer a man taller than I am. At any rate, looks like my dd is going to end up between 5'3 and 5'5, and that's fine by me!

Ok. I admit, when strangers ask, I lie. I say 5'0", otherwise they invariably go on and on about how I'm not even 5'0". The one that gets me the most is 'Do you know how short you are!?'. Yeah, like I've never noticed. Thanks! :rotfl2:

5ft even. Every pound shows. My 5ft 11in DH just can't grasp why its so hard to reach that darn top shelf! My DD is now taller than me. Sigggggghhhhhhh

Shorties unite!

You guys are all tall. I am only 4' 8" tall. I have stools all over the place in my house. In my kitchen the bottom shelfs are for the day to day things and the others have to put their things (like their glasses, cups, medicines ect.) on the other shelves. I ended up putting in a bakers rack in my kitchen so that I could have the kitchen items that I need at my level.
We just got a new bed. They are all so tall but you can get the lower box springs. Even with the lower one's I couldn't get into bed so my husband built me a special step stool. I hate going shopping and because I am pooh sized as well I can not stand going clothes shopping at all.
I can't and never could wear heels so I have never been taller.
When I go away I either have to bring a stool with me so that I can get into beds or take a running jump at the bed. I am amazed at how many people do not know what a stool is when asked for one. Hotels are really not set up for short people. I have a slight disability so just climbing onto beds is not something I am able to do. On my last cruise I just packed a stool in my suitcase and was glad I did.

4'11".

I hate the grocery store. I'm forever scaling shelves. :rotfl:

At 5'10" I sometimes get asked by another customer to get an item from the top shelf at the store. :thumbsup2

Hurray for all shapes and sizes!

I always thought I was short at 5'4".
But DD is 5'1" and done. Let me tell ya, that three inches is a big deal. DH is only two inches taller than me, and we can use the same car and only adjust the rear view mirror.
Now that DD is driving, every time I get in the car I have to readjust the seat, stearing wheel, side mirrors and rear view. Drives me CRAZY! I'm gonna have to get the kid her own car! :drive:

She just has fun with it. She has a t-shirt that says "I'm not short, I'm fun-size." And, like me, she enjoys wearing heels; so, she can always size herself up on occasion! :thumbsup2

I'm usually "just" tall enough to reach top shelves, but DD and I did have a problem at the grocery store a couple weeks ago and were discussing whether we should work together to reach the item or bother going to get a stocker. A lovely (and tall) woman saw our problem and helped us out. :thumbsup2

Oh, reread your heel comment. Sorry.
:p
Wedges are comfy for me, and I kind of look 5'3... have you tried wedges?

I am 5'1 3/4. :lmao: I do say I am 5'2, but just cause it is easier. Until a friend who is 5'2 comes over and realizes they are taller than me. My old roommate is 4'9. I felt very tall around her. :goodvibes

This :thumbsup2 is my life. I'm 5'2" and some change, but both parents are 5'5". My mom hates when I drive her car, because I do have to move the seat up. My DBf is 6'1", so I hate when he drives MY car because after I can't reach the pedals. Last time he was a smart aleck about it and moved the seat all the way up when he got out. I had to move it back just to get in.

I'm also the shortest (sort of) in my entire family. My Nana is 5'2"...for my cousins and I, it was always a sign of being grown up when you got taller than Nana. Guess who never passed her. I'm just the same size now. :sad1:

My mom sent me a picture of a shirt the other day that read "God only lets things grow until they're perfect. Some didn't take as long as others." I've decided to adopt this as my motto :rotfl2:

5'2" here! DH is 6'.

And, yes, I have a step stool in the kitchen pantry that I cart around all over the house.

Grocery stores are a pain! Shopping for clothes is a pain!

If I'm ever in a car wreck while I'm driving, the air bag is going to kill me since I have to have my seat so close to the steering wheel.

I never feel like I have any kind of "presence" or that anyone takes me seriously because I don't have any height.

And I hate that you can't "hide" any extra weight on a petite frame! I don't wear extra weight well at all!

Ugh, I think that's the hardest part about being petite! My tall friends can put on 10 pounds, and you can hardly notice. Not fair!!

I'm 5' tall, and while there are some occassions that I wish I was taller, I am happy with my height. There are many good things that come with being short.

You never have to worry about being taller than any guy (and if you are, then it's his problem - not yours).
You can always hem a dress or pants - you can't add length (though it does suck to have to get most of your clothing tailored).
Lots of guys like petite girls - even the tall ones! I think it makes them feel larger and more masculine.

I've had to accept the fact that I'm not going to get any taller, so I'm always trying to look at the bright side. I do wear heels, though they are a pain to find because my shoe size is a child's 2 or a women's 3.5/4 (thank goodness for Nordstrom Rack). But I'm happy being me.

gcoolie...that would be me :thumbsup2 I always have to ask people in my grocery store for help and I love that everyone I ask is always so friendly and nice!!!! Thank you for doing that!

This is what I got from a cousin at a family reunion when I commented how pretty and how tall her daughter has grown: "Well EVERYONE is taller than you!" HA. HA. LMAO, not. Like I've never heard that one before cuz.

My sister is shorter than I and I LMAO when this same cousin hugged her and my sister said "get your b (ryhmes with toob) out of my face!" :lmao:

I'm 5'2.5 and my daughter is 5'3. My mom and sister are 5'4, 5'6. I wear some sort of heel most of the time, but wedge types that are more comfortable. The thing I hate most about being petite is, if you gain any weight it shows right up. Most of my friends are short as well, under 5'4. I like my size and with heels it's fine it just the weight thing that bothers me most.

This thread makes me laugh. Although I guess I am average height: 5'6" I feel really short up against my 6'5" ft younger son.

I just read an article that said the average male is 5'8". 6'0" would be awfully tall for average. Not that that helps you any!

I'm 5'1". The only time it ever bummed me out was when I checked into being a flight attendant. They have a minimum height and I was too short.

Otherwise, I just work it. I do wear heels occasionally but I wear flats too. The grocery store is tricky but I can usually find someone to help me (thanks tall people!).

My daughter is right around my height now so she will be taller than me in the next year. She thinks that is great. I told her know matter how tall she gets, I am still in charge!

I just saw that on Facebook about a week ago. DD loved that one too! :lmao:
