Being induced tonight

Congratulations!

What a wonderful time in your life!! Congratulations! Try and savor each moment.

That being said....I say go for the epidural. :thumbsup2 But ...hold out as long as you can since it does tend to slow things down.

Best of luck to you and I hope things go quick and smooth and you are holding that sweet little bundle in your arms before you know it.

Best of luck to you and baby Carter. Hopefully by this time tomorrow you will have a little baby in your arms. :lovestruc

I was induced 10 years ago and although I wasn't able to get an epidural, everyone was fine and it is more of a blur now. ;)

One of my clients told me "You're going to wish you had a zipper so you could put it back sometimes after it's born." I was like "Yeah, thanks" when she told me that but later I realized it was so true! :rotfl2: So enjoy your day today and get lots of rest.

Well, at 8 pm I am suppose to go the hospital to start induction to deliver my baby. It seems crazy, and I don't really expect to deliver until tommorow, and think this will be the longest night of my life. I am trying to not be anxious but of course all the "what ifs" are running through my mind. In one way I am glad it is scheduled, since my husband is coming home early and we have plenty of time to make sure we have everything ready. On the other hand if it had happened on its own I don't think I would've been so nervous.

Just wondered if anyone had any advice. Were you scheduled for induction or C-section and how did you keep yourself from going crazy. Thanks.

YEAH! Congrats! And you baby will probably have the same birthday as my DS - he turns 2 tomorrow! I was scheduled for a c-section; however, it was for 2/5/08 so DS decided to come a day early! Everything will be fine, just take deep breaths and enjoy your last moments of quiet with your baby in you - things really change once he/she is out! :thumbsup2

Best Wishes to you!!!

I was induced with my first, who is now almost 15! I was five days past my due-date. Induction was NOT a good thing in my case. In retrospect, I wish I had waited. The induced me in the evening, and I delivered via c-section 27 hours later, after three hours of pushing.

With my second baby, who is now almost 11, I was ten days past my due date, and went in for a "fluid check". My fluid was low, so they admitted me into triage, gave me the "gel", and I delivered him within about four hours. I went from 3 cent. to complete in a very very short time...not enough time for an epidural. So, he came VBAC, and naturally.

I was terrified of delivery with my second, after the experience I had with my first.

Hopefully, you're induction will go much more smoothly!!!

You're definitely increasing your risks, statistically speaking.

Why do this if you don't want to? There's always time to call and tell them that your car won't start.

And that's exactly what my cousin had to do with both of her kids, to keep her OB off her back. I honestly have no idea how she stayed so strong; I had her mother with me during labor with DS, and my aunt helped to cause a big bad thing to happen to me. My cousin must have a will made of steel and I'm in awe of her every time I think about it.

Especially doing it at night, you're setting yourself up for exhaustion. And exhaustion isn't really that great for labor. Especially before you and the baby are ready for labor (you'll know you and the baby are ready for labor when labor starts).

I say, cancel the induction.

Congratulations! Hope it goes quickly! I was induced with DS my water had broken but wasn't having any contractions. When I got to the hospital I was dilated to 5. They put the iv in at 5 pm DS was born at 6:02 pm.

I've never had the overnight inductions. The only 2 I had were done in the morning. I think the night ones are to get your cervix ready, but they don't anticpate you to deliver in the overnight hours. They might actually expect you to sleep.

I have to say, I prefer to pass teh time watching tv until I nod off. But all my inductions were in the morning and were designed to get things going from 0-10 as quickly as possible. So I passed the time laboring.

Best of luck!!!

I no longer volunteer for inductions. I did not enjoy the 2 that I had and natural labor on the 3rd was more preferred for me since my body got to make all the decisions.

Congratulations!

Prayers and good thoughts that everything goes quickly and smoothly and in a few hours you will be holding your sweet baby Carter in your arms.

Both my kids were 16 days late. With Colin I went into labor the night before I supposed to be induced. I went to Red Lobster ate 1 everything on the menu:lmao: My water broke at midnight had him at 7pm. With Kylie I was 14 days late went to be induced it didn't work they sent me home & I went back 2 days later & it worked. It was a harder labor but she weighed 10#. they put the cervdil in & I went to sleep, woke up & they did pitocin. Yep I used drugs. I was lucky because my doctor lets you eat if you want he doesnt recommend a big Mac but he lets you eat.

Good Luck dont worry you will be fine.

Congrats to you! I was induced the same way with my dd who was born in August. My biggest advice is that if they offer you a sleeping pill TAKE IT!!

That is my biggest regret about the whole situation. I got zero sleep that night once the pain from the contractions really kicked in and I think my labor would have gone much smoother if I could have gotten at least a little sleep. They offered me a sleeping pill but I turned it down because I thought it wasn't going to be a big deal. Seriously, take the pill :D

Other little things I would have done differently is to have called the nurses once I was in a lot of pain. They could have given me for the pain something much earlier on and that would have made a lot of difference, but I was worried about bothering the nurses.

I'm excited for you though! Don't be scared, everything is going to go fantastic! :)

Baby's coming soon!:woohoo:

I was induced for both of my boys as I went 2 weeks over due with both of them.

The first one I went to the hospital in the evening, around 5pm or 6pm, and they did the gel. I woke up about midnight with cramping and it wasn't long before they put me on Pitocin. I had him at 3:37PM that afternoon. The entire thing from the first cramp to birth was 15 1/2 hours. Had an epidural and had no pain except in one area (I guess that can happen sometimes) which helped me to know when to push.

My second son I went to the hospital around 10AM and they gave me half of this little blue pill (up there if you know what I mean) and by 11:20AM I had started labor. DS was born at 5:15PM. Total time from first cramp to birth was almost 6hrs. Had a spinal block with that one. I was not expecting to feel him come out but WOWZA! I guess a spinal block does not "block" down there.

Thanks for the advice so far. They are planning the Cervidil tonight and Pitocin in the morning. I haven't been "checked" in 5 or 6 days, and was just a fingertip dilated, but soft, so we will see. I am one day past my due date.

I ahve 2 DDs and a DS due any day now (fingers crossed). DD #2 was induced at 37 weeks due to minor complications. I was administered to the hospital at around 5:30 in the evening, by around 8 I had received the Cervidil. The next morning I was given Pitocin. By ~1:30pm I received my epidural (I am not a "natural" kind of person). At somepoint between 2 and 3 pm I went from 3cm to 10 cm. I had no clue as I was napping! By 4pm I had had a baby! When I was administered I was still only about 1cm dialated and the baby pretty high up.

Induction was easy IMO.

Congratulations!

I was induced with all three of my boys at 36, 34, and 36 weeks. My first started at 8PM Sunday and ended at 7:30PM Tuesday. It was a wonderful experience, I just didn't go into labor as fast as they wanted.

Advice, use the bathroom because they didn't let me walk once they started the drip and trust your instincts. Try to stay relaxed. Prayers for a healthy baby coming your way..

Congratulations!!!

I was induced at 39 weeks to have Lucas. I watched hours and hours of bad TV that day! :rotfl:
